Surah Al-Ankabut Ayat 08 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (15 June 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[29].Surah Al-Ankabut [The Spider]

Ayat 8. And Allah has enjoined on man to be good and dutiful to his parents, but if they strive to make you join with Me (in worship) anything (as a partner) of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not. Unto Me is your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Ankabut (The Spider) Ayat 8. We have enjoined on man kindness to parents: but if they (either of them) strive (to force) thee to join with Me (in worship) anything of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not. Ye have (all) to return to me, and I will tell you (the truth) of all that ye did. That is, no certainty, in virtue of the spiritual light. In matters of faith and worship, even parents have no right to force their children. They cannot and must not hold up before them any worship but that of the One True God. Children and parents must all remember that they all have to go before Allah’s tribunal, and answer, each for his own deeds. In cases where one set of people have lawful authority over another set of people (as in the case of parents and children), and the two differ in important matters like that of Faith, the latter are justified in rejecting authority: the apparent conflict will be solved when the whole truth is revealed to all eyes in the Final Judgment.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported A person came to : The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) and asked, “Who among people is most deserving of my fine treatment?” He  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Your mother”. He again asked, “Who next?” “Your mother”, the Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH) replied again. He asked, “Who next?” He (the Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH)) said again, “Your mother.” He again asked, “Then who?” Thereupon he  [SAWW](PBUH) said,” Then your father.”

In another narration: “O Messenger of Allah! Who is most deserving of my fine treatment?” He  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father, then your nearest, then nearest”.

[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 73, Hadith # 02]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al- Ankabut Ayat 08. “Allah have enjoined on man to be good and dutiful to his parents” This Hadith tells us that the rights of the mother are three times more important than that of the father for the reasons that:

1 She is weaker than her father.

  1. The following three troubles are borne exclusively by the mother while the father does not share them with her:
  2. a) She carries the baby in her womb for nine months,
  3. b) The labor pain which she suffers.
  4. c) Two years’ period of suckling which disturbs her sleep at night and affects her health, She has also to be very cautious in her food for the welfare of the baby.
