*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 7_*
*_If you do good, you do good for your own selves. If you do evil, you do it to your own detriment. So when the second of the two came to pass, [We sent your enemies against you] to humiliate and suppress you, and to enter the mosque [the temple in Jerusalem] as they did the first time, and to utterly destroy all that fell into their power.(7)_*
The Ayah emphasises upon personal responsibility accountability and the consequences of sin.‼️ *The Bani Israil once again started spreading corruption after they regained power.* _This corruption was more severe than the first one, as religion was followed merely for appearance’s sake. And the punishment for this great corruption was meted out to them in this way that in the year 70 A. D. King Titus of Rome attacked Baitul Maqdis and razed it to the ground. The holy mosque (Temple of Solomon) was destroyed and countless people were done to death. This tragic event scattered Bani Israil so badly that they took shelter in various foreign countries around the world._ *Thus, they felt double suffering.* They experienced material suffering in the form of losing power, property, and women who were taken prisoner by the enemy. They also experienced moral suffering because the holy places and symbols of the sanctity of their religion were violated and destroyed.
*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the *never changing rule* with effects that transcend this life into the next.‼️ *It makes everything a human being does, with all its results and consequences, totally his own. Thus, reward is the natural fruit of action.* _Hence it is determined by the nature of the action done. This is to say that a human being is responsible for himself. It is he who chooses to do good or evil, and he alone who will receive the reward or bear the consequences of what he does. He has only himself to blame when the result of his action leads him to suffer punishment._
The Ayah reminds us:
1. To take responsibility for our actions.
2. To avoid evil deeds.
3. To seek forgiveness for our sins.
4. To appreciate Allah Azzawajal’s mercy.
*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to always do the good and gain HIS pleasure and Mercy. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
JazaK Allâhu khair!
