Surah Al Isra – Ayah 36

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 36_*

*_”And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, The Hearing, the Sight, and the Feelings in the heart – all those will be questioned”(36)._*

_The meanings of “Do not follow that of which you have no knowledge” are very comprehensive. It demands that both in individual and collective life, one should not follow mere guess work and presumption instead of “knowledge”.‼️ This instruction covers all aspects of Islamic life, *moral, legal, political, administrative and applies to science, arts and education.*_
_It has thus saved the society from numerous evils which are produced in human life by following guesswork instead of knowledge._

_*Above all, it cuts at the very root of superstitions, for this instruction teaches the Believers to accept only that which is based on the knowledge imparted by Allah Azzawajal and His Messenger Sallallahu Alahi wa Sallam.*_

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To understand that Certain knowledge must be the only basis for judgement or conviction. *Whatever is not certain must never constitute such a basis*‼ *Idle curiosity may lead us to nose into evil, through our ignorance that is evil. We must guard from every such danger.* It’s a common saying that goes by: *”See no evil; speak no evil, and hear no evil”.* Let’s not forget that we shall be called to account for the exercise of every faculty that has been given to us._
. In an authentic ĥadīth, the Prophet SWS is quoted as saying: *“Refrain from assumption, for assumption is the basis of the worst lies.”* Another ĥadīth related by Abū Dāwūd quotes the Prophet SWS as saying: *“It is indeed a bad practice for a man to always begin his statements with, ‘it is claimed.”* In another ĥadīth the Prophet said: *“The worst falsehood is that a man makes his eyes see what they have not seen.”*

_The Islamic moral code demands: *Guard against suspicion and do not accuse any individual or group without proper Knowledge/Investigation.*_

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and grant us the ability to refrain from the sin of wrongful assumptions and accusations. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
