English Translation of Al-Quran

[12].Surah Yusuf [Joseph]

Ayat 24. And indeed she did desire him and he would have inclined to her desire, had he not seen the evidence of his Lord (Allah). Thus it was, that We might turn away from him evil and illegal relationship. Surely, he was one of Our chosen, guided slaves.

Tafseer of Surah Yusuf (PBUH) Ayat 24. And (with passion) did she desire him, and he would have desired her, but that he saw the evidence of his Lord: thus (did We order) that We might turn away from him (all) evil and shameful deeds: for he was one of Our servants, sincere and purified. She was blinded with passion, and his plea had no effect on her. He was human after all, and her passionate love and her beauty placed a great temptation in his path. But he had a sure refuge-his faith in Allah. His spiritual eyes saw something that her eyes, blinded by passion, did not see. She thought no one saw when the doors were closed. He knew that Allah was there and everywhere. That made him strong, and proof against temptation. The credit of our being saved from sin is due, not to our weak earthly nature, but to Allah. We can only try like Joseph, to be true and sincere: Allah will purify us and save us from all that is wrong. Tempted but true, we rise above ourselves.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Whoever performs Hajj (pilgrimage) and does not have sexual relations (with his wife), nor commits sin, nor disputes unjustly (during Hajj), then he returns from Hajj as pure and free from sins as on the day on which his mother gave birth to him.”

[Al-Bukhari Volume 02, Book 26, Hadith # 596].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Yusuf Ayat 24“Surely, he was one of Our chosen, guided slaves.” The true meanings of “Rafath” sexual intercourse but it also signifies obscene and frivolous talk and the expression of sexual desire to one’s wife. Since coition with one’s wife is forbidden during Hajj, so conversation with her on this subject or talking for amusement is also disliked. “Fisq” means disobedience of Allah and quarrelling with people. One must avoid both of them during Hajj. The Hajj which is performed with all these restrictions, has the merit that one is totally purged of sins. But this purification is from sins which come in the category of minor sins and which relate to the Rights of Allah. Major sins relating to the Rights of Allah and lapses in respect of the rights of people are not pardoned without sincere repentance and compensation to the aggrieved.
