Daily Qur’an & Hadith 23 Feb 2021 (10 Rajab 1442)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[12].Surah Yusuf [Joseph]

Ayat 106. And most of them believe not in Allah except that they attribute partners unto Him [i.e. they are Mushrikun -polytheists].

Ayat 107. Do they then feel secure from the coming against them of the covering veil of the Torment of Allah, or of the coming against them of the (Final) Hour, all of a sudden while they perceive not?

Tafseer of Surah Yusuf Ayat 106 & 107 . And most of them believe not in Allah without associating (other as partners) with Him! Even if people profess a nominal faith in Allah, they corrupt it by believing in other things as if they were Allah’s partners, or had some share in the shaping of the world’s destinies! In some circles, it is idolatry, the worship of stocks and stones. In others, it is Christolatry and Mariolatry, or the deification of heroes and men of renown. In others it is the powers of Nature or of Life, or of the human intellect personified in Science or Art or invention, and this is the more common form of modern idolatry. Others again worship mystery, or imaginary powers of good or even evil: greed and fear are mixed up with these forms of worship. Islam calls us to worship Allah, the One True God, and Him only.  107. Do they then feel secure from the coming against them of the covering veil of the wrath of Allah,- or of the coming against them of the (final) Hour all of a sudden while they perceive not? Ghashiyah = covering veil, pall; used for the Judgement to come, which will be so dark and appalling as to hide up all other and petty things, and be the one great reality for the souls that were slaves to evil. 1791 The metaphor is changed, from intensity of darkness to suddenness of time. It will come before they are aware of it. Let them not feel any sense of safety in sin (Cf. 43:66).

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ubadah bin As-Samit (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, “He who bears witness that there is no true god except Allah, alone having no partner with Him, that Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH) is His slave and His Messenger, that `Isa (Jesus)(PBUH) is His slave and Messenger and he (Jesus) is His Word which He communicated to Maryam (Mary) [SAWW](PBUH) and His spirit which He sent to her, that Jannah is true and Hell is true; Allah will make him enter Jannah accepting whatever deeds he accomplished”. [Muslim Book 01, Chapter 11, Hadith # 043].

Another narration in Muslim is: the Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Whosoever testifies that there is no true god except Allah and that Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH) is the Messenger of Allah, Allah (SWT) saves him from the Fire (of Hell)”.

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Yusuf Ayat 106. “And most of them believe not in Allah except that they attribute partners unto Him” This Hadith confirms that all Prophets of Allah were men and thus refutes those who attribute divinity to them and exclude them from the category of men or regard them a part of Allah, as Christians believes Prophet Isa (PBUH) (Jesus to be Christ) by regarding him Allah or His son, or the Jews do Prophet `Uzair (PBUH) by venerating him as son of Allah.
