English Translation of Al-Quran
.Surah Yusuf [Joseph]
Ayat 56. Thus did We give full authority to Yusuf (Joseph) (PBUH) in the land, to take possession therein, as when or where he likes. We bestow of Our Mercy on whom We please, and We make not to be lost the reward of Al-Muhsinun (the good doers).
Ayat 57. And verily, the reward of the Hereafter is better for those who believe and used to fear Allah and keep their duty to Him (by abstaining from all kinds of sins and evil deeds and by performing all kinds of righteous good deeds).
Tafseer of Surah Yusuf (PBUH) Ayat 56 & 57. Thus did We give established power to Joseph in the land, to take possession therein as, when, or where he pleased. We bestow of our Mercy on whom We please, and We suffer not, to be lost, the reward of those who do good. What a wonderful example of the working of divine Providence ! The boy whom his jealous brothers got rid of by throwing him down into a well, and late was sold into slavery for a miserable price becomes the most trusted dignitary in a foreign land, chief minister in one of the greatest empires of the world of that day. And this not for himself only, but for his family, for the world at large, and for that noble example of righteousness and strenuous service, which he was to set for all time. According to tradition, Joseph’s age was barely 30 at that time! As, when, or where he pleased: hay thu refers to manner, time, or place. He had almost absolute powers, but as his fidelity was fully proved (12:53) these powers were for service rather than for self. 57. But verily the reward of the Hereafter is the best, for those who believe, and are constant in righteousness. To die righteous, whatever rewards (if any) (hat come in this world are welcome for the opportunities of service which they open out. But the true and best reward is in the Hereafter.
English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Abu Said Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Allah, the Rubb of honour and glory, will say to the inhabitants of Jannah: `O inhabitants of Jannah!’ They will respond: `Here we are! At Your service, O our Rubb. All good is in Your Hand!’ He will ask them: `Are you pleased?’ They will reply: `Why should we not be pleased, O Rubb, when You have given us what You have not given to any of Your creatures?’ Allah will say: `Shall I not give you something better than that?’ They will ask: `O Rubb! What can be better than that?’ Allah will say: `I shall bestow My Pleasure upon you and I shall never be displeased with you.”’
[Al-Bukhari Volume 8, Book 76, Number 557].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Yusuf Ayat 57. “And verily, the reward of the Hereafter is better for those who believe and used to fear Allah and keep their duty to Him” The declaration about Allah being pleased with the dwellers of Jannah will certainly be the greatest of the boons and rewards of Jannah.
