English Translation of Al-Quran
.Surah Yusuf [Joseph]
Ayat 63. So, when they returned to their father, they said: “O our father! No more measure of grain shall we get (unless we take our brother). So send our brother with us, and we shall get our measure and truly we will guard him.”
Ayat 64. He said: “Can I entrust him to you except as I entrusted his brother [Yusuf (Joseph)[PBUH] to you aforetime? But Allah is the Best to guard, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.”
Tafseer of Surah Yusuf (PBUH) Ayat 63 & 64. Now when they returned to their father, they said: “O our father! No more measure of grain shall we get (unless we take our brother): So send our brother with us, that we may get our measure; and we will indeed take every care of him.” On their return they no doubt told Jacob all that had transpired. But to beg Benjamin of him was no easy matter, as Jacob did not trust them and had no cause to trust them after their treatment of Joseph. So they use the argument of urgent necessity for all it is worth. 64. He said: “Shall I trust you with him with any result other than when I trusted you with his brother aforetime? But Allah is the best to take care (of him), and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!” I construe Jacob’s answer to be a flat refusal to let Benjamin go with them. It would be like the former occasion when he trusted Joseph with them and they lost him. Did they talk of taking care of him? The only protection that he trusted was that of Allah. He at least showed mercy to old and young alike. Did man show mercy? Witness his sad old age and his lost little Joseph! Would they bring down “his grey hairs with sorrow to the grave?”
English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: One day, I was riding behind the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) when he said, “O boy! I will instruct you in some matters. Be watchful of Allah (Commandments of Allah), He will preserve you. Safeguard His Rights, He will be ever with you. If you beg, beg of Him Alone; and if you need assistance, supplicate to Allah Alone for help. And remember that if all the people gather to benefit you, they will not be able to benefit you except that which Allah had foreordained (for you); and if all of them gather to do harm to you, they will not be able to afflict you with anything other than that which Allah had pre-destined against you. The pens had been lifted and the ink had dried up”. [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2516].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Yusuf Ayat 64. “Allah is the Best to guard, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.” No one has the power to change the Decision of Allah. Whatever trouble one has to suffer in this world, it does not last forever. Every trouble is followed by prosperity, pleasure and happiness.
One should never ask other than Allah anyone’s help in supernatural way because it amounts to ascribing partnership with Allah. If a person is mindful of the Rights of Allah, then Allah, in return takes care of his needs and helps him.
