Surah Al-Ankabut Ayat 14 & 15 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (21 June 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[29].Surah Al-Ankabut [The Spider]

Ayat 14. And indeed We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people, and he stayed among them a thousand years less fifty years [inviting them to believe in the Oneness of Allah (Monotheism), and discard the false gods and other deities], and the Deluge overtook them while they were Zalimun (wrong-doers, polytheists, disbelievers, etc.).

Ayat 15. Then Allah saved him and those with him in the ship, and made it (the ship) as an Ayah (a lesson, a warning, etc.) for the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). Tafseer of Surah Al-Ankabut (The Spider) Ayat 14 & 15. Allah (once) sent Noah to his people, and he tarried among them a thousand years less fifty: but the Deluge overwhelmed them while they (persisted in) sin. The story of Noah and his Flood is not told here. It is told in other places: e.g., see 11:25 -48 or 26:105-122- He is only referred to here to point out that Noah’s period lasted a long time, 950 years. (Cf. Gen. 9:28-29, where his whole age is declared to have been 950 years, of which 350 years were after the Flood). In spite of this long period, his contemporaries failed to listen, and they were destroyed but the story of the Ark remains an everlasting Sign and Warning to mankind-a Sign of deliverance to the righteous and of destruction to the wicked. 15. But Allah saved him and the companions of the Ark, and Allah made the (Ark) a Sign for all peoples!

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, ”Whoever performs Hajj (pilgrimage) and does not have sexual relations (with his wife), nor commits sin, nor disputes unjustly (during Hajj), then he returns from Hajj as pure and free from sins as on the day on which his mother gave birth to him.”

[Al-Bukhari Volume 02, Book 26, Hadith # 596].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Hadith the true meanings of “Rafath” intercourse but it also signifies obscene and frivolous talk and the expression of desire to one’s wife. Since coition with one’s wife is forbidden during Hajj, so conversation with her on this subject or talking for amusement is also disliked. “Fisq” means disobedience of Allah and quarrelling with people. One must avoid both of them during Hajj. The Hajj which is performed with all these restrictions has the merit that one is totally purged of sins. But this purification is from sins which come in the category of minor sins and which relate to the Rights of Allah. Major sins relating to the Rights of Allah and lapses in respect of the rights of people are not pardoned without sincere repentance and compensation to the aggrieved.
