*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 76 & 77_*
*_And it [the city] is on a road that is still travelled.(76)_*
*_Surely in that there is a sign for the believers.(77)_*
The habitations of the time of Prophet Lut (AS) which were over turned are located, as said by the Qur’an, on the Arabia-Syria route.‼️ This route was extensively used by the Quraish tribe for the purpose of doing trade. As Allah Azzawajal says in Surah Saffat
*_You ˹Meccans˺ certainly pass by their ruins day and night. Will you not then understand?(37:137 -138)_*
This site is still present in the proximity of Jordan in the form of a wilderness below the sea level. On a major portion, flows a particular kind of water like a river. Sea life cannot survive here. Therefore, it is called the *Dead Sea or the Sea of Lut(AS).*
*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the preservation of the monuments and relics of the past provide instructive lessons for the future generations .‼️ They contain good lessons for those who wish to learn from the end that befell earlier communities which defied and rejected Allah Azzawajal’s messengers. But such lessons are of benefit only to those who are prepared to learn from them. This is the reason why the Prophet SAWS, whenever he has passed by these sites, went through a particular emotional state under which he would be overwhelmed by the awe of Almighty Allah and which caused his blessed head to lower down and he would then try to make his mount hasten through these sites.
*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect upon the reminders and strengthen our Imaan to stay away from HIS prohibitions and going astray. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
JazaK Allâhu khair!
