*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayah 80 & 81_*
*_The people of al-Hijr also rejected the Messengers.(80)_*
*_We sent them Our signs, but they persisted in turning away from them.(81)_*
Here Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la tells us about the people of Al-Hijr, they were the people of Prophet Salih(AS) who lived in Al-Hijr, the homeland of Thamud the well-known rocky tract and that land lies in between Hijaz and Syria. Its ruins are still seen today, because they used to build their dwellings in the mountains, cutting space for themselves there.‼️ *The name of this surah comes from this Ayah.* Prophet Salih(AS) brought them signs to prove that what he was telling them was true, such as the she-camel which Allah Azzawajal created for them out of a solid rock in response to the supplication of Salih(AS). This she-camel was grazing on their lands, and the people and the camel took water on alternate days that were well-known and was decided upon, but these people rebelled and killed it, then Prophet Salih(AS) said to them
*_Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days. This is a promise which will not be belied.” (11:65)_*
*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the word *الْمُرْسَلِیْنَۙ Al-Murasaleen* has been used which means *Messengers* and it is in the plural even though they only denied one messenger i.e Prophet Saleh(AS), *because denying one messenger is the same as to deny all of Allah’s messengers.* All the messengers sent by Allah Azzawajal brought the religion of monotheism and the same religious principles.
The word *مُعْرِضِیْنَۙ ‘turning away’* in this Ayah indicates that they were not even ready to listen to the Ayat of Allah Azzawajal or to look at them. Even though they had received a clear sign, they still rejected the invitation to monotheism because they were a stubborn people. Perhaps the main reason they turned away from the warning of their Prophet was because of their luxurious life and high intelligence that they look lightly at the call of the Messenger of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la.
*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to reflect and ponder and keep our hearts firm upon the Deen. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
JazaK Allâhu khair!
