Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 88 & 89

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 88 & 89_*

*_”Do not extend your eyes towards what We have bestowed to (certain) categories of them, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers”.(88)_*

*_”And say, Indeed, I am a clear Warner.”(89)_*

The Ayat describes the immense blessings of Surah Fatiha bestowed upon the believers which is the guidance to the right path and it cannot be compared and valued with any amount of worldly wealth.‼️ *Therefore, Allah SWT warns believers not to feel discouraged and sad about the worldly pleasures that HE SWT has given to the unbelievers.* It is not fitting for a person to divert his attention from something noble and of high value to something of lesser value, especially if the worldly pleasures are obtained in a way that is not permitted by Allah Azzawajal.

All these are temporary pleasures, then they will be put into the blazing fire of hell. As Allah Azzawajal says in Surah Taha

*_Do not let your eyes crave what We have allowed some of the disbelievers to enjoy; the ˹fleeting˺ splendour of this worldly life, which We test them with. But your Lord’s provision ˹in the Hereafter˺ is far better and more lasting.(20:131)_*

Allah SWT forbade Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him not to grieve over the infidels who did not heed his call. This prohibition of Allah Azzawajal is because the Prophet SAWS hoped that all people would believe and hoped that the unbelievers would not suffer the punishment of Allah Azzawajal in the afterlife.

Allah Azzawajal’s prohibition also reminded the Prophet SAWS that his task was only to convey HIS religion and warn the people of consequences and not to force people to believe.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the Great Value of the Qur’an which has been bestowed by Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la.‼️ Let us understand the importance of this spiritual blessings as compared to the worldly pleasures. Let’s try to give the Qur’an it’s due it deserves and get benefitted by the guidance it provides and get healing from our imperfections.

–The famous hadith of the Prophet SAWS which appears in Sahih works including a part of it in Bukhari as chapter-heading:

In this Hadīth, the Prophet SAWS urged us to recite the Qur’an with a melodious voice. The Arabic word *”yataghanna”*, as mentioned in the Hadith, has two possible meanings:
1). The one who does not make his *voice melodious* when reciting the Qur’an is not someone following our path and guidance.
2.) *The one who does not suffice with the Qur’an, seeking guidance elsewhere, is not one of us*. _Without a doubt, whoever seeks guidance in anything other than the Qur’an, Allah will lead him astray; We seek refuge with Allah Azzawajal. *Hence, the Hadīth shows that a Muslim should recite the Qur’an with a melodious voice and find sufficiency in it from anything else.*

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to remain focused upon the Deen and save us from all form of worldly distractions. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

JazaK Allâhu khair!
