Surah Al-Zumar Ayat 24 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (29 July 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[39].Surah Al-Zumar [The Groups]

Ayat 24. Is he then, who will confront with his face the awful torment on the Day of Resurrection (as he who enters peacefully in Paradise)? And it will be said to the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.): “Taste what you used to earn!”

Tafseer of Surah Al Zumar Ayat 24. Is, then, one who has to fear the brunt of the Penalty on the Day of Judgment (and receive it) on his face, (like one guarded therefrom)? It will be said to the wrong- doers: “Taste ye (the fruits of) what ye earned!” The unrepentant Sinners will receive the full Penalty on the Day of Judgment. They will receive it full in the face, i.e., their whole being will be affected by it. Their hands (figuratively) will be tied, and they cannot therefore use their hands to ward off the Penalty of the Fire: in any case their hands will not have the power to ward it off. Are such helpless people to be compared for a moment with people who have received Grace and are therefore guarded from all harm and danger? Certainly not. To the evil the fruit of their deed, and to the good the grace of their Lord! That is, of all their misdeeds, all the evil which they did in the world.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: A young Jewish boy who was in the service of the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) fell ill. The Prophet ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH) went to visit him. He sat down by his head and said to him, “Embrace Islam.” The little boy looked at his father who was sitting beside him. He said: “Obey Abul-Qasim (i.e., the Messenger of Allah   ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH)).” So he embraced Islam and the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) stepped out saying, “Praise be to Allah Who has saved him from Hell-fire.”

[Muslim, Book 07, Chapter 70, Hadith # 561]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Zumar Ayat 24. Is he then, who will confront with his face the awful torment on the Day of Resurrection” Herein, the example of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ (PBUH) inspires us to visit even a sick disbeliever and invite him to accept Islam. Besides, the Hadith tells that the company of the virtuous does bear fruit and that we should continue to hope that the heart of a disbeliever will turn to Allah at any moment. Furthermore, we come to believe that parents, though not clinging to the right way, may tell their offspring to pursue the truth.
