Surah An Nahl – Ayah 86

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 86_*

*_When those who ascribed partners to Allah see their [so-called] ‘partners’, they will say: Our Lord, these are our [so-called] ‘partners’ whom we used to call upon besides You. But they will respond: You are surely lying.(86)_*

The Ayah describes the scene on the Day of judgement and shows the shame and regret of the idolators.‼️ *These polytheists who ascribed partners to Allah Azzawajal see their [so-called] ‘partners’ on the Day of Resurrection, and they realise that they were false and will not be able to deny which they used to allege to have a share in Allah Azzawajal’s divinity, and to worship them instead of Allah Azzawajal or alongside Him.* _Their silence is broken and they point to them, crying out: *“Our Lord*, these are our partners whom we used to invoke instead of You.” Their statement begins with an acknowledgement of Allah Azzawajal’s position. They address HIM as “Our Lord!” What is more is that they no longer describe the false deities they used to worship as Allah Azzawajal’s partners. They refer to them as *‘our partners’.* Those very partners are frightened by such a description for it constitutes a serious accusation. Hence, they refute it, asserting most emphatically that those who worshipped them are *liars*._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the plight of polytheists and the futility of worshipping false gods.‼️ *The gods of the polytheists will only disown them at the time when they need them most.* _These false gods apart from idols could be those personalities who were treated by the polytheists in the manner reserved only for Allah Azzawajal, for example presuming to be omnipresent and calling them for help to believe that they enjoy such authority that they can get whatever they want for their followers from Allah Azzawajal, that they fix the destiny and remove difficulties, and that they help on granting wealth and children from the Unseen, etc If the false gods were stones, trees, etc., then, obviously, they never knew how they were being treated by the humankind. *But, if it were prophets and righteous men who were worshiped after them, then, they would surely disown their worshipers.* As for the devils, although they will lie and accuse their worshipers of lies, they too would not want to own up that they were worshiped. Thus, the worshipers of false gods will be left totally devastated by disappointments and left in despair._

–This Ayah reminds us:

1. To worship Allah Azzawajal Alone.
2. To reject polytheism.
3. To recognize idol’s powerlessness.
4. To prepare for Judgment Day.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and save from us from falling into the trap of shirk and Bidah. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

JazaK Allâhu khair!
