*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Ibrahim Ayat 32 & 33_*
*_It is Allah Who has created the heavens and the earth, and sent down water from the sky; and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. HE has made the ships to be of service to you so that they may sail on the sea by HIS command, and HE has also made the rivers to be of service to you.(32)_*
*_And HE has made the sun and moon to be of service to you, both constant in their courses, and HE has made the night and day to be of service to you.(33)_*
The Ayat describe the reason as to why each and every person should worship Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la Alone.‼️ *The Ayat describes the universe where every word speaks of Allah Azzawajal’s countless blessings.* _These extend beyond the furthest point our senses can reach. The universe is transformed into an exhibition of Allah’s signs where the magnificence of HIS hand excels so as to leave its distinct mark in every image, feature and shadow._ The great scene of Allah’s blessings that is presented here is painted with fascinating skill, drawing its lines in the same directions the different blessings take in relation to man. This is noticeable in the line of the heavens and the earth, followed by that of water pouring down from the skies and plants and fruits shooting up from the earth. We then have a line depicting the oceans with ships sailing on their surface and rivers flowing with much bounty. A new line takes us back to the skies to show us the sun and the moon, coupled with the line of the night and day, which is closely connected to the sun and moon but remains firm on earth.
*_Act of the Day is:_* to realise the great bounties and blessings which Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has bestowed upon the mankind so as to sustain their life and needs on this planet by showing gratitude in the form of obedience to HIS commands and staying away from Shirk.‼️ The words *Sakh-khara-lakum سَخَّرَ لَـكُمُ* of the text have misled those people who have translated these into *“subjected to you”*. So much so that some of them interpret these Ayat to mean that the main aim of the life of man is to bring the earth and heavens under his subjection, whereas their real meaning is *_“the earth and heavens are subjected to certain laws and they serve you under these laws.”_* As a matter of fact Allah Azzawajal has subjected all these things to such laws as are beneficial for man. Had not a ship been subjected to certain physical laws, there could have been no navigation at all. Had not a river been subjected to certain laws, it could not have been possible to take out canals from them. *Therefore, those who feel proud of having invented, manufac- tured or produced things like that should better think twice and feel shy of ascribing all credit of such innovations to themselves.* Likewise if the heavenly bodies (the sun and the moon, etc.) and the earth and day and night had not been subjected to certain fixed laws, life could not have been possible, not to speak of civilized life.
*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect upon HIS blessings and strengthen our Imaan and make us remain humble and grateful. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
JazaK Allâhu khair!
