*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 35_*
*_”And when Ibrahim (A.S.) said,” My Lord! Make this city (Makkah) safe, and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols”.(35)_*
یاد کرو وہ وقت جب ابراہیم ( علیہ السلام ) نے دعا کی تھی کہ پروردگار ، اس شہر کو امن کا شہر بنا اور مجھے اور میری اولاد کو بت پرستی سے بچا.(35)
_Allah SWT had bestowed His special bounties on the Quraish in particular. They have been asked to remember that, Prophet Abraham A.S., had settled their forefathers near the Ka’abah and made their city, *Makkah, a “City of Peace”* and AIlah showered His blessings on the Quraish in answer to the prayer of Prophet Abraham. They have been admonished to remember those “bounties” and mend their ways._ They had turned away from pure faith. The prayer was _’My Lord, make this a city of peace.’_ In the prayer which he made when Makkah was already a populated city, he made a definite reference to the city of Makkah saying: ‘My Lord, make this city peaceful.’ *Security and safety is so important for man*, for it is intertwined with his survival. The sūrah mentions this here so as to remind of it to the people of Makkah who enjoy it as if it was theirs by right, and who do not give thanks for it.
(2) The second prayer made by him was: *_’and keep me and my children away from worshiping idols.’_* Though, prophets on whom be peace are protected by Allah Azzawajal, so Shirk, idol-worship, or a sin cannot issue forth from them. But, in this prayer, Ibrahim AS has included himself as well. The reason for this is either that prophets too live under a constant fear of being in danger, or that his main purpose was to pray for the safety of his children against the danger of disbelief and idol-worship. *It was to impress his children with the gravity of the matter that he included himself too within the prayer*.
*_Act for the Day is:_* to pay attention to the way Prophet Ibrahim (AS) addresses Allah (SWT). He calls Him *Rabb*‼. *As this word has many meanings. But the foremost of these is Lord and Master*. This was the perception that Ibrahim (AS) had of the Divine. *This was the mindset that Ibrahim (AS) had was that of a slave.* _A slave in love with his Master. A slave desiring nothing but the Pleasure of his Master. The Nearness of his Master. At every moment of his life all that he desired was that nearness._ So he was always striving and trying to do something at each moment that would please Allah (SWT). Because he realized that he was not merely a worshipper of the Divine, or a servant of the Divine. Rather he was a slave. *And the job of a slave is truly a full time one. There is not a moment when he is free. At every moment he has to serve his Master. He has to please HIM.*

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to understand our responsibilities as HIS true Slave and earn HIS pleasure and blessings. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
