English Translation of Al-Quran

[36].Surah Yaseen [Yaseen]

Ayat 15. They (people of the town) said: “You are only human beings like ourselves, and the Most Beneficent (Allah) has revealed nothing, you are only telling lies.”

Ayat 16. The Messengers said: “Our Lord knows that we have been sent as Messengers to you,

Ayat 17. “And our duty is only to convey plainly (the Message).”

Tafseer of Surah Yaseen, Ayat 15 to 17. The (people) said: “Ye are only men like ourselves; and (Allah) Most Gracious sends no sort of revelation: ye do nothing but lie. We also are men with like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities…” They not only reject the mission of the particular messengers, but they deny the possibility of Allah’s sending such a mission. Note how they convict themselves of inconsistency by using Allah’s name “Most Gracious”, even though they may mean it ironically! Ayat 16. The Prophets said: “Our Lord doth know that we have been sent on a mission to you: Just as a Messenger whose credentials are doubted can refer to the authority granted by his Principal, as the highest proof of his mission, so these messengers of Allah invoke the authority of Allah in proof of their mission. In effect they say: “The knowledge of Allah is perfect, and He knows that our mission is from Him; if you do not, it is your own misfortune.” Ayat 17. “And our duty is only to proclaim the clear Message.” Then they proceed to explain what their mission is. It is not to force them but to convince them. It is to proclaim openly and clearly Allah’s Law, which they were breaking-to denounce their sins and to show them the better path. If they were obstinate, it was their own loss. If they were rebellious against Allah, the punishment rested with Allah.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, used to strive more in worship during Ramadan than he strove in any other time of the year; and he would devote himself more (in the worship of Allah) in the last ten nights of Ramadan than he strove in earlier part of the month.

[Muslim].

Lesson: We learn from this Hadith that:

1. One should concentrate more on prayers and worship on the last ten nights of Ramadan than the first twenty nights, in the same way as one should do more worship in Ramadan than in the other months.

2. One should keep oneself awake for prayer, worship and glorification of Allah in the last ten nights of Ramadan so that one can attain the blessings of Lailat-ul-Qadr.

3. One should also persuade his family members to keep themselves awake for prayer and worship in the last ten odd nights of Ramadan so that they can also make efforts to please Allah.

4. I`tikaf (seclusion in the mosque for prayers) in the last ten days of Ramadan is also a meritorious act for its being a practice of the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) (PBUH).
