Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 51

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayah 51_*

*وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ عَنۡ ضَيۡفِ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمَ‌ۘ.(51)*

*_Tell them about the guests of Ibraheem,(51)_*

اور ان کو ابراہیم کے مہمانوں کا احوال سنادو.(51)

Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la asks HIS Prophet SAWS to tell the amazing story to the stubborn disbelieving people who were demanding that angels be send to prove the truthfulness of his prophethood.‼️ *In response they are described about the story of Prophet Ibrahim AS who had the honour of receiving Angels as his guests.* They came with the news of glad tidings of Prophet Ibrahim AS having a second son Prophet Ishaq AS and as well as they came to punish the wicked people of Prophet Lut(AS).

__Now these two events are cited as two concrete forms of truth with which the angels came, as if to ask the disbelievers: Now decide for yourselves which of these two forms of truth would you want angels to bring to you. It is obvious that you do not deserve that truth which was sent to Prophet Ibrahim(AS). Do you then desire that truth which the angels brought to the people of Prophet Lut(AS)?_

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the story highlights two important attributes of Allah Azzawajal one is *Mercy and the other is of HIS punishments*.‼️ The *aspect of mercy* is shown as giving the good news to Prophet Ibrahim alaihis salam about the birth of his son Ishaq alaihis salam. He had reached old age when the angels brought him this good news. So this good news is a great mercy! And the *matter of punishment* is that punishment was sent down on the people of Prophet Lut alaihis salam through these angels who came. [The incident is narrated in detail in Surah Hud (11:69-83)]

–Try to understand this delicate balance between hope and fear and how Allah Azzawajal’s mercy and wrath manifest at the same time, thus the Qur’an gives a historical example of this in this Ayah.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect and get benefitted from the Quranic lessons. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

JazaK Allâhu khair!
