Surah Al-Zumar Ayat 25 & 26 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (30 July 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[39].Surah Al-Zumar [The Groups]

Ayat 25. Those before them (Pagans of Makkah) belied (the prophets), and so the torment came on them from directions they perceived not.

Ayat 26. So, Allah made them taste the disgrace in the present life, but greater is the torment of the Hereafter if they only knew!

Tafseer of Surah Al Zumar Ayat 25. Those before them (also) rejected (revelation), and so the Punishment came to them from directions they did not perceive. Cf. 16:26. They will be punished from quarters or in ways they do not perceive. From their Unbelief and Rebellion, they think they derive great advantages, but they suddenly find out, when too late, that that which they exulted in was the cause of their undoing. Ayat 26. So Allah gave them a taste of humiliation in the present life, but greater is the punishment of the Hereafter, if they only knew! Cf. 2:114. Sin often brings disgrace and humiliation in this life, but the greater and truer punishment is in the Hereafter. But men often do not know the inwardness of this matter. If they flourish here for a time, they think they will escape the real consequences in the Hereafter. Or if they suffer little harm here, they think that will make up the Penalty, and they will escape the Hereafter. Both ideas are wrong.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,  “Verily, Allah gives respite to the oppressor. But when He seizes him, He does not let him escape.” Then he ﷺ (PBUH)) recited, “Such is the Seizure of your Rubb when He seizes the (population of) towns while they are doing wrong. Verily, His Seizure is painful (and) severe”. (11:102).

[Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 60, Hadith # 208]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Zumar Ayat 25. Those before them (Pagans of Makkah) belied (the prophets), and so the torment came on them from directions they perceived not. ” One should not take the respite for exemption because no one knows when respite granted by Him will come to an end and punishment will follow.
