Surah Luqman Ayat 04 to 05 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (17 Sep 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[31].Surah Luqman [Luqman]

Ayat 4. Those who perform AsSalat (Iqamat as- Salat) and give Zakat and they have faith in the Hereafter with certainty.

Ayat 5. Such are on guidance from their Lord, and such are the successful.

Tafseer of Surah Luqman Ayat 4 and 5. Those who establish regular Prayer, and give regular Charity, and have (in their hearts) the assurance of the Hereafter. The righteous are distinguished here by three marks, which are summed up in the phrase “doers of good”, viz.: (1) they yearn towards Allah in duty, love and prayer, (2) they love and serve their fellow-men in charity, (3) they win peace and rest for themselves in the assured hope of the Future. Ayat 5. These are on (true) guidance from their Lord: and these are the ones who will prosper. They get the blessings because they submit their will to Allah’s Will and receive His guidance. They will do well in this life (from the highest standpoint) and will reach their true Goal in the Future.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Shaddad bin Aus (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “A wise man is the one who calls himself to account (and refrains from doing evil deeds) and does noble deeds to benefit him after death; and the foolish person is the one who subdues himself to his temptations and desires and seeks from Allah the fulfillment of his vain desires”.

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2459]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al- Ankabut Ayat 64. “This life of the world is only amusement and play” This Hadith highlights the importance of the accountability of one’s self. Mere desires which are not coupled with practical efforts are of no avail because Allah grants reward on good deeds and not on yearnings and desires which are not supported by noble actions.
