Surah Luqman Ayat 21 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (01 Oct 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[31].Surah Luqman [Luqman]

Ayat 21. And when it is said to them: “Follow that which Allah has sent down”, they say: “Nay, we shall follow that which we found our fathers (following).” (Would they do so) even if Shaitan (Satan) invites them to the torment of the Fire.

Tafseer of Surah Luqman Ayat 21. When they are told to follow the (Revelation) that Allah has sent down, they say: “Nay, we shall follow the ways that we found our fathers (following).” What! Even if it is Satan beckoning them to the Penalty of the (Blazing) Fire? They do not realize that in the spiritual world, as in the physical world, there is constant progress for the live ones: they are spiritually dead, as they are content to stand on ancestral ways, many of them evil and leading to perdition

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Sahl bin Saad (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said to `Hazrat Ali bin Talib (May Allah be pleased with him), “By Allah, if a single person is guided by Allah through you, it will be better for you than a whole lot of red camels.”

[Al-Bukhari Book 04, Chapter 52, Hadith # 192]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Luqman Ayat 21. “Follow that which Allah has sent down”, they say: “Nay, we shall follow that which we found our fathers” “Better for you than red camels” is an allegory for everything that is better than anything else. Red camels used to be precious in Arabia, and their reference here is to highlight the value of guidance. Thus, this Hadith brings into prominence the importance of calling people towards Allah. But before calling others to the path of Allah, one must himself know it, and for this purpose, the knowledge of the Qur’an and Hadith is essential because one cannot provide any guidance in this respect without this knowledge.
