Surah Yaseen Ayat 55 to 58 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (19 April 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[36].Surah Yaseen [Yaseen]

Ayat 55. Verily, the dwellers of the Paradise, that Day, will be busy in joyful things.

Ayat 56. They and their wives will be in pleasant shade, reclining on thrones.

Ayat 57. They will have therein fruits (of all kinds) and all that they ask for.

Ayat 58. (It will be said to them): Salomon (peace be on you), a Word from the Lord (Allah), and Most Merciful.

Tafseer of Surah Yaseen, Ayat 55 to 58, Verily the Companions of the Garden shall that Day have joy in all that they do; We now have the symbolism for the indescribable Bliss of the Hereafter, in the four verses, 55-58. Notice the subtle gradation in the description. First, in this verse, we have the nature of the mise en scene and the nature of the joy therein. It will be a Garden i.e., everything agreeable to see and hear and feel and taste and smell; our bodily senses will have been transformed, but we can imagine something corresponding to them in our spiritual being: delightfully green lawns and meadows, trees and shrubs: the murmur of streams and the songs of birds: the delicate texture of flowers and leaves and the shapes of beauty in clouds and mist; the flavors of fruits; and the perfumes of flowers and scents. The joy in the Garden will be an active joy, without fatigue: whatever we do in it, every employment in which we engage there, will be a source of joy without alloy. 56. They and their associates will be in groves of (cool) shade, reclining on Thrones (of dignity); Secondly, the joy or happiness is figured to be, not solitary, but shared by associates like those whom we imagine in spiritual Love or Marriage; in whose fair faces “some ray divine reflected shines” (Jami): whose society is enjoyed in homes of happiness, situated in soothing shade, and furnished with thrones of dignity and peace. 57. (Every) fruit (enjoyment) will be there for them; they shall have whatever they call for; Thirdly, besides any external conditions of Bliss, the Bliss in the Hereafter has an inner quality, expressed by the word fakihatun. The root fakikah means ‘to rejoice greatly’, ‘ to be full of merriment’. The ordinary meaning of ‘fruit’ attached to fakihah is derived from the idea that the flavor of choice, ripe fruit, delights the heart of man. Just as akala (to eat) is used for ‘enjoyment’, (5:66, and 13:35), so fakihah, ‘fruit’, stands here for that especially choice enjoyment, which goes with a fastidious and well-cultivated taste. In other words, it suggests the highest kind of joy which depends upon the inner faculty rather than any outward circumstance. This is further emphasized by the second clause: “they shall have whatever they call for”. Again using the language of this life, the musician’s heaven will be full of music; the mathematician’s will be full of mathematical symmetry and perfection; the artist’s will be full of beauty of form, and so on. 58. “Peace!” – A Word (of salutation) from a Lord Most Merciful! Fourthly, we reach the highest grade of bliss, the mystic salutation “Peace!” from Allah Most Merciful. Cf. 10:10. The words sum up the attainment of the final Goal. For it explains the nature of the most High-He is not only a Lord and Cherisher, but a Lord Whose supreme glory is Mercy, Peace, and Harmony!

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Al-Mughirah bin Shubha (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Musa (Moses) (PBUH) asked his Rubb: `Who amongst the inhabitants of Jannah will be the lowest in rank?’ He said: `It will be a person who will be admitted into Jannah last of all when all the dwellers of Jannah have entered Jannah. It will be said to him: Enter Jannah. But he will say: O my Rubb! How should I enter while the people have settled in their apartments and taken their shares? It will be said to him: Will you be satisfied and pleased if you have a kingdom like that of a monarch of the world? He will say: I will be content, my Rubb. Allah will say: For you is that, and like that and like that and like that and like that. He will say at the fifth time: I am well-pleased, my Rubb. Allah will say: It is for you and ten times more like it. You will have whatever your soul desires and whatever your eyes could delight in. He will say: I am well-pleased, my Rubb.’ Musa (PBUH) said: `Who will be of the highest rank in Jannah.’ Allah said: `They are those whom I chose and I established their honor with My Own Hand. I attest with My Seal that they will be blessed with such bounties as no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no human mind has perceived.”

[Muslim Book 01, Chapter 83, Hadith # 363]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Yaseen Ayat 55, the dwellers of the Paradise, that Day, will be busy in joyful things” This Hadith highlights Allah’s unbounded Mercy and Bounty upon His obedience in Jannah although they do not deserve all that.
