*THE FIRST MUSLIM POLICE FORCE.*
Did you know that during the Khair ul Qurun there were aside from the Mujahideen and all a Muslim Police Force?
Ma sha Allah.
If you go and study about the history of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, you will see that the establishment of this police force came after ‘Umar Radiyallahu Anhu, on the reign of ‘Uthman Ibn Affan Radiyallahu Anhu.
Historians say that *’Uthman was the first caliph to ever establish a police force*, and this mission was handed over to the great Sahabi, Al Muhajir Ibn Qunfudh Ibn ‘Umair Al Qurashi Radiyallahu Anhu who was like the *modern day police chief of Madinah those days.*
‘Uthman also appointed ’Abd Al Rahman Al Asadi Radiyallahu Anhu as the police chief in Kufah and Naseer Ibn ‘Abd Al Rahman Radiyallahu Anhu for Syria.
_____
*The first highlight of these policemen were during the funeral of Al Abbas Ibn Al Muttalib Radiyallahu Anhu.*
When the bier of Al Abbas was brought to the place where biers were brought, the people started to crowd around and took him to Al Baqee.
‘Abd Al Rahman Ibn Yazid Radiyallahu Anhu says that when they offered the funeral prayer [salat ul janazah] for him in Al Baqee, he never saw so many people come out for anyone. He says that no one could get near to his bier, and Banu Hashim [Al Abbas’ family tribe] were pushing people away from him.
He also said that when they reached the grave, the people were crowding around and there he saw ‘Uthman leaving and in return sent the *POLICE* to push people away from Banu Hashim, it continued until Banu Hashim were able to come forward, for they were the ones who lowered him into the grave.“
______
Indeed, we learn so much from the lives of the Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum, everything that we have now can be traced back to the footsteps and traces that these great men left in this dunya.
*The policemen as we read in this story surely indicates that they are there to protect and maintain the safety of the Muslims, they were not there to take advantage of their authority or their missions upon the Muslims, they served the people as they were prescribed and ordained to do.*
If only people would learn about being keen on their responsibilities, there will be less of chaos in this world, let us strive to learn and be responsible on things that are ordained to us, making that what Allah Azza Wa Jall has ordained for us on top of our lists.
______
And we pray that we become among those people who take in our responsibilities with keen observance and perseverance and never take them for granted.
Aameen
