Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 52 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (12, Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 52. Say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) “Tell me, if it (the Qur’an) is from Allah, and you disbelieve in it, who is more astray than one who is in opposition far away (from Allah’s Right Path and His obedience).

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 52. Say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) “See ye if the (Revelation) is (really) from Allah, and yet do ye reject it? Who is more astray than one who is in a schism far (from any purpose)?”  An argument is now addressed, of a most searching nature. Examine your own souls. See if you do not really find something unusual in Allah’s Revelation! If you do, and yet you reject it, what a terrible responsibility fastens itself on you? Could anything be more foolish or more misguided than to reject a Message which is transforming the whole world? “If you resist the convictions of the whole world, you are only forming a Cave or a narrow obscure sect or schism, which serves no purpose, and is unfit to live in the broad light of Universal Religion.’ Cf. 2:176

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “My parable and that of yours is like a man who kindled a fire. When it was illuminated all around him, the moths and grasshoppers began to fall therein. He tried to push them away, but they overcame him and jumped into it. I am catching hold of your waist’s ties (to save you) from fire, but you slip away from my hands”.

[Muslim Book 030, Chapter 06, Hadith # 5672].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 52. “The Qur’an) is from Allah, and you disbelieve in it, who is more astray than one who is in opposition far away” This Hadith mentions the extreme kindness which the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) had for the welfare of his followers. It also mentions the misfortune of those who would become the fuel of Hell for not accepting Islam in spite of the utmost affection and ardor of the Prophet ﷺ (PBUH) to bring them in the fold of Islam. People who fail to accept Islam would fall in the Hell-fire in the same way moths fall in the fire.

Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 51 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (11 Dec. 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 51. And when Allah show favour to man, he withdraws and turns away, but when evil touches him, then he has recourse to long supplications.

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 51. When We bestow favour on man, he turns away, and gets himself remote on his side (instead

of(4524) coming to Us); and when evil seizes him, (he comes) full of prolonged prayer! The last verse and note dealt with men’s distortion of the values of life. Here we come to men’s ingratitude and hypocrisy. If they receive good, they go farther away from Allah, instead of coming nearer to him. If they suffer ill, they call on Allah and offer prolonged prayers, but it is not sincere devotion and therefore worthless.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,  “There are three signs of a hypocrite: When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he is trusted, he betrays his trust.” Another narration adds the words: ‘Even if he observes fasts, performs Salat and asserts that he is a Muslim”.

[Al-Bukhari Volume 08, Book 73, Hadith # 117].

Lesson: A hypocrite is the one who professes Islam before the Muslims but conceals hatred and animosity against them. This double-dealing is worse than Kufr. This is the reason the Noble Qur’an has declared about them that they will be in the lowest depths of Hell. The hypocrites referred to here lived at the time of the Prophet (PBUH) and he was informed about them through Wahy (Revelation). It is very difficult to identify the class of hypocrites in this age. It is almost impossible to know the hypocrisy of Faith. The practical hypocrisy is, however, now very common among the Muslims. It can be identified on the strength of the traits which have been stated in the Hadith about them. These traits are very common among many of the present-day Muslims. Their conduct bears the marks of hypocrisy. This practical hypocrisy is, however, not Kufr as is the case with the hypocrisy of Faith.

Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 49 & 50 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (10, Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 49. Man (the disbeliever) does not get tired of asking good (things from Allah), but if an evil touches him, then he gives up all hope and is lost in despair.

Ayat 50. And truly, if We give him a taste of mercy from us, after some adversity (severe poverty or disease, etc.) has touched him, he is sure to say: “This is for me (due to my merit), I think not that the Hour will be established. But if I am brought back to my Lord, Surely, there will be for me the best (wealth, etc.) with Him. Then, We verily, will show to the disbelievers what they have done and We shall make them taste a severe torment.

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 49. Man does not weary of asking for good (things), but if ill touches him, he gives up all hope (and) is lost in despair. Not only is man prone to doubts and speculations in matters beyond his ken, thus disturbing the even tenor of his spiritual life: he is apt to run into opposite extremes in his daily experiences in this life. He is always hankering after the good things of this life. They are not all good for him. If he receives a little check, even though it may be to bring him to his bearings and turn his thoughts to higher things, he is apt to fall into despair. Ayat 50. When we give him a taste of some Mercy from ourselves, after some adversity has touched him, he is sure to say, “This is due to my (merit): I think not that the Hour (of Judgment) will (ever) be established; but if I am brought back to my Lord, I have (much) good (stored) in His sight!” But We will show the Unbelievers the truth of all that they did, and We shall give them the taste of a severe Penalty. When men entertain false ideas of values in life, there are two or three possible attitudes they may adopt in reaction to their experiences. In the first place, their desire may be inordinate for the good things of this life, and any little check brings them into a mood of despair. See last note. In the second place, if their desire is granted, they are puffed up, and think that everything is due to their own cleverness or merit, and they forget Allah. Not only that, but they go a step further, and begin to doubt a Hereafter at all! If by chance they have a faint glimmering of the Hereafter, which they cannot help recognizing, they think themselves “favored of Heaven”, because of some small favour given to them in this life by way of trial. Thus, they turn all things, good or evil, away from their real purpose, because they are devoted to falsehood.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Jarir bin Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “He who is deprived of forbearance, tenderly feelings and gentleness is, in fact, deprived of good.”

[Muslim Book 32, Hadith Number 6272].

Lesson: This Hadith brings out that Allah enjoins softness and dislikes stiffness in human relations. Allah assures us of reward for gentle behavior in society, not for unkindness or anything like that. However, inflexibility is preferred to flexibility when there arises a question of religious matters and the limits set by Allah.

Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 48 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (09, Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 48. And those whom they used to invoke before will fail them, and they will perceive that they have no place of refuge (from Allah’s punishment).

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 48. The (deities) they used to invoke aforetime will leave them in the lurch, and they will perceive that they have no way of escape.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Khabbab bin Al-Aratt (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: We complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) regarding the persecution inflicted upon us by the disbelievers while he was lying in the shade of the Kabbah, having made a pillow of his cloak. We submitted: “Why do you not supplicate for our prevalence (over the opponents)?”. He ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) replied, “Among those people before you, a man would be seized and held in a pit dug for him in the ground and he would be sawed into two halves from his head, and his flesh torn away from his bones with an iron comb; but, in spite of this, he would not wean away from his Faith. By Allah, Allah will bring this matter to its consummation until a rider will travel from Sana’ (Yemen) to Hadramout fearing none except Allah, and except the wolf for his sheep, but you are in too much of a hurry”.

[Al-Bukhari Book 04, Chapter 56, Hadith # 809]

Lesson: 1. Difficulties in the path of Faith do not come in any particular period. People devoted to their Deen have passed through trials and tribulations everywhere and in every age and have emerged purified as does the gold after passing through the furnace. So, it is unbecoming for a Muslim to be disturbed by hardships.

2. The glad tidings about domination of religion and peace and security were given in the early period of Islam which were subsequently witnessed by the people. Even now wherever Islam is practiced in true sense, peace and security are distinctive features of the system of that country.

Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 47 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (08 Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 47. (The learned men) refer to Him (Alone) the knowledge of the Hour. No fruit comes out of its sheath, nor does a female conceive (within her womb), nor brings forth (young), except by His Knowledge. And on the Day when He will call unto them (polytheists) (saying): “Where are My (so-called) partners (whom you did invent)?” They will say: “We inform You that none of us bears witness to it (that they are Your partners)!”

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 47. To Him is referred the Knowledge of the Hour (of Judgment: He knows all): No date-fruit comes out

of its sheath, nor does a female conceive (within her womb) nor bring forth the Day that (Allah) will propound to them the (question), “Where are the partners (ye attributed to Me?” They will say, “We do assure thee not one of us can bear witness!” There are profound mysteries which the knowledge of man cannot fathom but which are all open knowledge to Allah, because He plans, guides and controls all things. The precise time of the Hour of Judgment is one of these. We are not to dispute matters like these, which are matters of speculation as far as human intelligence is concerned. Such speculations ruined the Ummah of Moses, and set them on the arid path of doubts and controversies. Our task is to do our duty and love Allah and man (see the last two verses). Cf. also 21:4. When the final restoration of true values comes, all falsehood will be exposed openly and publicly. The false gods will vanish, and their falsehood will be acknowledged by those who had lapsed from true worship. But it will be too late then for repentance.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) said: Once we were sitting in the company of Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) when there appeared a man dressed in very white clothes and having extraordinary black hair. No signs of fatigue of journey appeared on him and he was known to none of us. He sat down facing the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) leaning his knees against the knees of the Prophet ﷺ (PBUH) and placing both of his palms over his two thighs and said, “O Muhammad ﷺ (PBUH)! Tell me about Islam”. He ﷺ (PBUH)replied, “Islam is to testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) is the Messenger of Allah; that you observe Salat (prayers), pay Zakat, observe Saum (fasting) of Ramadan and perform Hajj (pilgrimage) of the House, provided you have resources of making journey to it.” He replied: “You have spoken the truth”. We were surprised to see that he had asked him and confirmed the correctness of the answers. He then enquired: “Tell me about Iman”. He ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH) said. “It is to believe in Allah, and His Books, and His Messengers and the Last Day and that you believe in fore ordainment, it’s bad and good consequences.” He said, “You have spoken the truth.” He then enquired: “Tell me about Ihsan.” He ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “It is to worship Allah as if you are seeing Him; and although you do not see Him, He sees you”. He enquired: “Inform me about the Hour (i.e., the Day of Resurrection)”. He ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) replied, “I have no more knowledge thereof than you”. He said, “Inform me about some of its signs”. He ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “They are – that a bondswoman gives birth to her own master, and that you will find the barefooted, naked, poor shepherds competing one another in the construction of higher buildings”. Then he departed. The Messenger of Allah kept silent for a while then he said to me, “O `Umar! Do you know who the questioner was?” I replied, “Allah and His Messenger know better”. The Prophet   ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “He was Jibril (Gabriel); he came to you to teach you your religion”.

[Muslim Book 001, Chapter 001, Hadith # 001]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 47. (The learned men) refer to Him (Alone) the knowledge of the Hour” and Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 63. “People ask you (Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH).” concerning the Hour (i.e., the Day of Resurrection), This Hadith is known as ‘Hadith Jibril’. It mentions the basics of Islam the details of which are known to every Muslim. Al-Qadr (Divine preordainment) means that Allah already knows and has recorded everything that will happen until the Day of Resurrection. Now whatever happens is in accordance with that knowledge and writing. What is meant by its good and bad consequences can be illustrated by saying that tranquility; prosperity and abundance of crops come in the category of good consequences. Famine, calamities and troubles, etc., fall in the list as evil consequences. But we regard them good or bad according to our own understanding; otherwise, every action of Allah has some wisdom and expedience which are known to Him Alone.

Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 46 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (07, Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 46. Whosoever does righteous good deed it is for (the benefit of) his own self, and whosoever does evil, it is against his own self, and your Lord is not at all unjust to (His) servants.

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 46. Whoever works righteousness benefits his own soul in this world and hereafter; whoever works evil, it is against his own soul and destroys his life in the hereafter, and your Lord Allah is ever unjust (in the least) to His Servants.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Masud Uqbah bin Amr Al-Ansari Al-Badri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW]((PBUH)  said, “Whoever guides someone to virtue will be rewarded equivalent to him who practices that good action”. [Muslim].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 46. Whosoever does righteous good deed it is for (the benefit of) his own self, and whosoever does evil, it is against his own self”

The statement quoted in this Hadith was made by the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) when, on a certain occasion, someone requested him to give an animal for riding. The Prophet ﷺ (PBUH) replied that he did not have any. A man who was present there said that he could show him the man who could help him in the matter. This is how the Prophet ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH) revealed the reward of directing people to good deeds, which is mentioned in this Hadith.

Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 45 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (06, Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 45. And indeed, We gave Musa AS (Moses) the Scripture, but a dispute arose therein. And had it not been for a Word that went forth before from your Lord, (the torment would have overtaken them) and the matter would have been settled between them. But truly, they are in grave doubt thereto (i.e. about the Qur’an).

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 45. We certainly gave Moses the Book aforetime: but disputes arose therein. Had it not been for a Word that went forth before from thy Lord, (their differences) would have been settled between them: but they remained in suspicious disquieting doubt thereon. Callousness and self-sufficiency in religion are often illustrated by sects like the Pharisees and Sadducees among the Jews. Where there are honest differences of opinion, they can, in Allah’s Plan, lead to greater enquiry and emulation. Where the differences are fractious, there is often even then time left for repentance. In any case the Word or Decree of Allah is for the best good of all, and should not disturb Faith. Cf. 10:19. A good life, of faith and truth, is in our own interests, and the opposite against our own interests. Allah is never unjust.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Saeed & Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Never a believer is stricken with a discomfort, an illness, an anxiety, a grief or mental worry or even the pricking of a thorn but Allah will expiate his sins on account of his patience”.

[Al-Bukhari Book 07, Chapter 70, Hadith # 545]

Lesson : This Hadith mentions the special Grace and Mercy of Allah for the Muslims. It relates how Allah turns the hardships and troubles suffered by a Muslim into a means of expiation for his sins. But this is only possible if the believer exercises patience. However, if he starts wailing instead of showing patience then besides suffering hardships, he would be deprived of the reward which lies in bearing them patiently. Thus, he shall have to take the burden of additional sins also

Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 44 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (05, Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 44. And if We had sent this as a Qur’an in a foreign language other than Arabic, they would have said: “Why aren’t its Verses explained in detail (in our language)? What! (A Book) not in Arabic and (the Messenger) an Arab?” Say: “It is for those who believe, a guide and a healing. And as for those who disbelieve, there is heaviness (deafness) in their ears, and it (the Qur’an) is blindness for them. They are those who are called from a place far away (so they neither listen nor understand).

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 44. Had Allah sent this as a Qur´an (in the language) other than Arabic, they would have said: “Why aren’t its verses explained in detail? What! (A Book) not in Arabic and (a Messenger an Arab?” Say: “It is a Guide and a Healing to those who believe; and for those who believe not, there is a deafness in their ears, and it is blindness in their (eyes): They are (as it were) being called from a place far distant!” Cf. 16:103-105; 12:2; etc. It was most natural and reasonable that the Messenger being Arab, the Message should be in his own tongue, that he might explain it in every detail, with the greatest power and eloquence. Even though it was to be for the whole world, its initial exposition was thus to be in Arabic. But if people had no faith and were spiritually deaf or blind, it would not matter in what language it came. Cf. 41:5, and 6:25. They pretended that it was too deep for them, when they meant that they were superior to it! The fact was that by putting themselves in an artificially false position, they rendered themselves impervious to the Message. The voice of Revelation or the voice of conscience sounded to them as if it came from a far-off place! They themselves made themselves strangers to it.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ (PBUH) said, “He who does not memorize any part from the Qur’an he is like the ruined house.”

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2913].

Lesson: This Hadith means that the heart of that Muslim is devoid of grace of spiritualism and Grace of Allah who does not remember by heart any portion of the Qur’an, in the same way as a deserted house is deprived of inhabitants and Blessings of Allah. What we learn from this is that every Muslim must remember some portion of the Qur’an so that he is safe from the admonition mentioned in this Hadith.

Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 43 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (04th Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 43. Nothing is said to you (O Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) except what was said to the Messengers before you. Verily, your Lord is the Possessor of forgiveness, and (also) the Possessor of painful punishment.

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 43. Nothing is said to thee that was not said to the messengers before thee: that thy lord has at his Command (all) forgiveness as well as a most Grievous Penalty. The gist of Allah’s Message, now, before, and forever, is the same: Mercy to the erring and repentant; just punishment to those who willfully rebel against Allah.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: We were talking about the Farewell Pilgrimage without knowing what was it when Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) was also present. He ﷺ (PBUH) stood up and recited the Praise and Glorification of Allah. He then gave a detailed account of Ad-Dajjal and said, ‘Every Prophet sent by Allah had warned his people against his mischief. Nuh (AS) )warned his nation and so did all the Prophets after him. If he (i.e., Ad-Dajjal) appears among you, his condition will not remain hidden from you. Your Rubb is not one-eyed, but Ad-Dajjal is. His right eye is protruding like a swollen grape. Listen, Allah has made your blood, and your properties as inviolable as of this day of yours (i.e., the Day of Sacrifice), in this city of yours (i.e., Makkah), in this month of yours (i.e., Dhul -Hijjah). Listen, have I conveyed Allah’s Message to you?” The people replied in affirmative. There upon he said, “O Allah, bear witness.” And he repeated it thrice. He (PBUH) concluded: “Do not revert after me as infidels killing one another”.

[Al-Bukhari Volume 4, Book 55, Number 553].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 43. Nothing is said to you (O Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) except what was said to the Messengers before you” This Hadith brings out the following three points:

1. Some marks and signs of pseudo-Messiah (Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal) are mentioned to warn the believers against his mischief.

2. The lives and properties of Muslims are inviolable for each other. In other words, it means that each of them is a protector and guardian of the life, property and honor of the other.

3. Internal war among the Muslims is a great crime and can even lead to infidelity (Kufr). May Allah save us all from it.

Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 42 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (03rd Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 42. (And verily, it is an honorable respected Book Al-Quran) Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it (it is) sent down by (Allah SWT) the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise.

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 42. No falsehood can approach it from before or behind it: It is sent down by One Full of Wisdom. Worthy of all Praise. Allah’s Truth is fully guarded on all sides. No one can get the better of it by attacking it from before or behind it, openly or secretly, or in any way whatever.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,  “Any matter of importance which is not begun with Al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah) remains defective.”

[Abu Dawud Hadith # 4840].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 42. “(Allah SWT) the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise” There is another Hadith to the effect that every important work which is not started with the invocation “Bismillah” is devoid of Allah’s Grace, it is desirable to begin every good work with the Glorious Name of Allah and His Praise.
