Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 64, 65 & 66 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (22 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 64. And it will be said (to them): “Call upon your (so-called) partners (of Allah), and they will call upon them, but they will give no answer to them, and they will see the torment. (They will then wish) if only they had been guided!

Ayat 65. And (remember) the Day (Allah) will call to them, and say: “What answer did you give to the Messengers?”

Ayat 66. Then the news of a good answer will be obscured to them on that day, and they will not be able to ask one another.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 64, 65 and 66. It will be said (to them): “Call upon your ´partners´(for help)” :they will call upon them, but they will not listen to them; and they will see the Penalty (before them); (how they will wish) ´if only they had been open to guidance! That Day (Allah) will call to them, and say: “What was the answer ye gave to the messengers?” Now we come to the examination of those who rejected or persecuted Allah’s Messengers on the earth. It may be the same men as those mentioned in 28: Ayat 62 to 64, but this is a different count in the charge. Then the (whole) story that Day will seem obscure to them (like light to the blind) and they will not be able (even) to question each other. In their utter confusion and despair their minds will be blank. The past will seem to them unreal, and the present unintelligible, and they will not even be able to consult each other, as every one’s state will be the same.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ubadah bin As-Samit (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: e Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, “He who bears witness that there is no true god except Allah, alone having no partner with Him, that Muhammad   [SAWW] is His slave and His Messenger, that `Isa (Jesus) is His slave and Messenger and he (Jesus) is His Word which He communicated to Maryam (Mary) and His spirit which He sent to her, that Jannah is true and Hell is true; Allah will make him enter Jannah accepting whatever deeds he accomplished”.

[Muslim Book 01, Chapter 11, Hadith # 043].

Another narration in Muslim is: e Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Whosoever testifies that there is no true god except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah , Allah (SWT) saves him from the Fire (of Hell)”

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 64. “”Call upon your (so-called) partners (of Allah), and they will call upon them, but they will give no answer to them” This Hadith confirms that all Prophets of Allah were men and thus refutes those who attribute divinity to them and exclude them from the category of men or regard them a part of Allah, as Christians believes Prophet `Isa (Jesus to be Christ) by regarding him Allah or His son, or the Jews do Prophet `Uzair by venerating him as son of Allah. The misconception has also taken hold of a sect of the Muslims. They have invented the belief that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is “Light from the Light of Allah”. Thus, further considering being of him with Divine qualities. They exclude him from the category of men. This Hadith tells us that the belief that Prophets were men constitutes part of Faith and denial of it is the denial of a part of Faith and amounts to evasion from Tawheed – Oneness of Allah. The Prophet `Isa (Jesus) has been referred to in the Qur’an as “Kalimatullah” (the Word of Allah) (4:171). What these words really mean is that he was born in an unusual manner, without being fathered by anyone, only on the express fiat of Allah. This Hadith shows that a major sin does not cast a Muslim out of the fold of Islam, as is believed by certain deviant sects who have gone astray. Such a person does remain a Muslim and his eligibility for admission into Jannah also remains intact but his admission entirely depends on the pleasure of Allah. He may forgive a sinful Muslim and send him to Jannah even in the initial stage or keep him in Hell for some time and then send him to Jannah. Thus, when it is said that Muslims are protected against Hell, it means that they will not abide in Hell forever. It will be a temporary phase varying with his sins. When that punishment comes to an end, or even before it, when Almighty, Allah, wills, he will be removed from Hell to Jannah.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 62 & 63 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (21 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 62. And (remember) the Day when Allah will call to them, and say: “Where are My (so-called) partners whom you used to assert?”

Ayat 63. Those about whom the Word will have come true (to be punished) will say: “Our Lord! These are they whom we led astray. We led them astray, as we were astray ourselves. We declare our innocence (from them) before You. It was not us they worshipped.”

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 62 & 63. That Day (Allah) will call to them, and say “Where are my ´partners´?- whom ye imagined (to be such)?” Those against whom the charge will be proved, will say: “Our Lord! These are the ones whom we led astray: we led them astray, as we were astray ourselves: we freed ourselves (from them) in Thy presence: it was not us they worshipped.” This and the next verse are concerned with the examination of those who neglected truth and righteousness and went after the worship of false gods, viz, their own lusts. These were the “partners” they associated with Allah. Insofar as they were embodied in false or wicked leaders, the leaders will disown responsibility for them. “We ourselves went wrong, and they followed our example, because it suited them: they worshipped, not us, but their own lusts’ Cf. 10:28 . False worship often names others, but really it is the worship of the Self. The others whom they name will have nothing to do with them when the awful Penalty stands in the sight of both. Then each wrongdoer will have to look at his own case. The wicked will then realize the gravity of the situation and wish that they had accepted the true guidance of Allah’s Messengers.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ubada bin As-Samit (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I, along with a group of people, gave the pledge of allegiance to The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH). He said, “I take your Pledge on the condition that you (1) will not join partners in worship with Allah, (2) will not steal, (3) will not commit illegal sexual intercourse, (4) will not kill your offspring (for fear of poverty), (5) will not slander, (6) and will not disobey me when I order you to do good. Whoever among you will abide by his pledge, his reward will be with Allah, and whoever commits any of those sins and receives the punishment in this world, that punishment will be an expiation for his sins and purification; but if Allah screens him, then it will be up to Allah to punish him if He will or excuse Him, if He will.”

[Al-Bukhari Book 05, Chapter 58, Hadith # 232].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 62. “The Day when Allah will call to them, and say: “Where are My (so-called) partners whom you used to assert?” This Hadith here brings forth the attention of Muslim to their obligations, being fully conscious of their accountability to Allah (SWT) they are apt to make full efforts to provide justice and peace to other people. Shirk (polytheism) is an absolutely unpardonable sin. All other sins, how many and how grave they may be, can be forgiven by Allah. He will pardon them if He likes and send the sinful persons straight to Jannah, or keep them for a while in Hell and then shift them to Jannah. In any case, the punishment of Hell will not be eternal for them, as it is for the Mushriks (polytheists).

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 61 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (20 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 61. Is he whom We have promised an excellent promise (Paradise), which he will find true, like him whom Allah have made to enjoy the luxuries of the life of (this) world, then on the Day of Resurrection, he will be among those brought up (to be punished in the Hell-fire)?

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 61. Are (these two) alike?- one to whom We have made a goodly promise, and who is going to reach its (fulfillment),( and one to whom We have given the good things of this life, but who, on the Day of Judgment, is to be among those brought up (for punishment)? The two classes of people are: (1) those who have faith in the goodly promise of Allah to the righteous, and who are doing everything in life to reach the fulfillment of that promise, i.e., those who believe and work righteousness, and (2) those who are ungrateful for such good things in this life as Allah has bestowed on them, by worshipping wealth or power or other symbols or idols of their fancy, i.e., those who reject Faith and lead evil lives, for which they will have to answer in the Hereafter. The two classes are poles under, and their future is described below.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Shaddad bin Aus (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “A wise man is the one who calls himself to account (and refrains from doing evil deeds) and does noble deeds to benefit him after death; and the foolish person is the one who subdues himself to his temptations and desires and seeks from Allah the fulfillment of his vain desires”.

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2459]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 61. “Allah has made to enjoy the luxuries of the life of (this) world, then on the Day of Resurrection, he will be among those brought up (to be punished in the Hell-fire)?” This Hadith highlights the importance of the accountability of one’s self. Mere desires which are not coupled with practical efforts are of no avail because Allah grants reward on good deeds and not on yearnings and desires which are not supported by noble actions.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 60 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (19 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 60. And whatever you have been given is an enjoyment of the life of (this) world and its adornment, and that (Hereafter) which is with Allah is better and will remain forever. Have you then no sense?

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 60. The (material) things which ye are given are but the conveniences of this life and the glitter thereof; but that which is with Allah is better and more enduring: will ye not then be wise?  The good things in this life have their uses and serve their convenience. But they are fleeting and their value is infinitely lower than that of Truth and Justice and Spiritual Well-being, the gifts which come as it were from the very Presence of Allah. No wise soul will be absorbed in the one and neglect the other, or will hesitate for a moment if it comes to a choice between them.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Al-Mustuarad bin Shaddad (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “This world (i.e., its pleasures and duration) in comparison with the Hereafter is (similar to the amount of water) one gets when he puts his finger in the sea. Let him then see what it returns with”.

[Muslim Book 40, Chapter 14, Hadith # 6843].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 60. “Whatever you have been given is an enjoyment of the life of (this) world and its adornment” This Hadith shows the value of the Hereafter and its blessings compared to the worldly life. The proportion between the two is that the former is like an ocean while the latter is like the proportion of water left on one’s finger when dipped in the sea!.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 59 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (18 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 59. And never will your Lord destroy the towns (populations) until He sends to their mother town a Messenger reciting to them Our Verses. And never would Allah destroy the towns unless the people thereof are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, oppressors and tyrants).

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 59. Nor was thy Lord the one to destroy a population until He had sent to its center a messenger, rehearsing to them Our Signs; nor are We going to destroy a population except when its members practice iniquity. Allah (SWT) always sent his warner to warn them but the oppressor keep on deifying the Devine message and became eligible for torment.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I can still recall as if I am seeing the Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) resembling one of the Prophets whose people scourged him and shed his blood, while he wiped blood from his face, he said: “O Allah! Forgive my people, because they certainly do not know”.

[Al-Bukhari 09, Chapter 84, Hadith # 63].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 59 “And never will your Lord destroy the towns (populations) until He sends to their mother town a Messenger reciting to them Our Verses” It mentions the refined character and compassion of the Prophets which has an important lesson for those who preach righteousness. They should be always prepared to face hardships involved in inviting people to the right path and, instead of retaliation, forgive their audience and pray for their guidance. These noble qualities are extremely important for those who are devoted to preach religion.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 58 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (17 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 58. And how many towns (population) have Allah destroyed, which were thankless for its means of livelihood (disobeyed Allah, and His Messengers, by doing evil deeds and crimes)! And those are their dwellings, which have not been inhabited after them except a little. And verily! We have been the inheritors.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 58. And how many populations Allah destroyed, which exulted in their life (of ease and plenty)! Now those habitations of theirs, after them, are deserted, – All but a (miserable) few! And Allah is their heirs! A life of ease and plenty is nothing to boast of. Yet people or cities or civilizations grow insolently proud of such things. There were many such in the past, which are now mere names! Their very sites are deserted in most cases, or buried in the debris of ages. The Indo-Pakistan subcontinent is full of such sites nearly everywhere. The sites of Harappa and Mohenjo Daro are the most ancient hitherto unearthed in Pakistan, and they are themselves in layers covering centuries of time! And how many more there may be, of which we do not even know names! Fatehpur-Sikri was a magnificent ruin within a single generation. And there are thousands of Qasbas once flourishing and now reduced to small villages or altogether deserted. But Allah is merciful and just. He does not destroy or degrade a people until they have had full opportunities of turning in repentance to Him and they have deliberately rejected His Law and continued in the practice of iniquity.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ibn Umer (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: when Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH), and his Companions reached Al-Hijr, the dwellings of the Thamud people, he admonished his Companions (saying), “Do not pass by these people who are being tormented, without weeping, lest the punishment should befall you as it had befallen them.” [Al-Bukhari Book 04, Chapter 55, Hadith # 564].

Another narration is: Hazrat Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said: When the Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) passed near Al-Hijr, he said, “Do not enter without weeping, the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, lest the same chastisement should fall upon you as it had fallen upon them.” Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) then covered his head and sped up until he crossed the valley of the tormented people.

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 58. “And how many towns (population) have Allah destroyed, which were thankless for its means of livelihood (disobeyed Allah, and His Messengers, by doing evil deeds” The Thamud were the people to whose guidance Allah sent Prophet Salih PBUH. They lived between Al-Madinah and Syria. In 10 A.H. when the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) went to the Syrian border for the Tabuk expedition, he also passed through this ruined territory. This Hadith is related to the address which he gave to his Companions on the occasion. Here is an instruction that when we happen to pass through the territory of a nation destroyed in the past as a result of Divine wrath, we are advised to quicken one’s pace. That is why we have been commanded to avoid the company of the corrupt and the wrongdoers, lest we meet their bad end, too. As the Qur’an says: “And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you.” (11:113) May Allah save us from it!.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 57 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (16 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 57. And they say: “If we follow the guidance with you, we would be snatched away from our land.” Have Allah not established for them a secure sanctuary (Makkah), to which are brought fruits of all kinds, a provision from Ourselves, but most of them know not.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 57. They say: “If we were to follow the guidance with the Prophet SAWW (PBUH), we should be snatched away from our land.” Attacked by Pagans of Makkah, but Allah in replied said to them “Have Allah not established for them a secure sanctuary, to which are brought as tribute fruits of all kinds, – a provision from Ourselves?” but very sadly most of them understand not at that time and also today.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abud-Darda (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Seek among your weak ones, for you are given provision and help only because of the weak amongst you.” [Abu Dawud Hadith # 2594].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 57. “to which are brought fruits of all kinds, a provision from Ourselves, but most of them know not” This Hadith mentions the reason for the acceptance of the invocations of the weak and poor. Since their hearts are free from the worldly vices and are gifted with greater sincerity and fear of Allah, their prayers are more acceptable to Him. This point has been mentioned more explicitly in Nasa’i which says: “Almighty Allah helps the Ummah because of the prayers, worship and devotion of its weak people”. (Aun-ul-Mabud, Vol. No. 2, chapter Al-Jihad). The words which occur in most of the manuscripts of Riyadh-us-Saliheen are (Abghow fi ad-duafa’) and the translation quoted here follows these words. But in the manuscripts of Abu Dawud, the word (fi) does not figure in the text. In one manuscript, however, we find the words (Abghow fi ad-duafa’) which means “For me search Muslims who are weak so that I find reason to support you with their prayers”.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 56 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (15 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 56. Verily! You (O Muhammad SAWW(PBUH) guide not whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He knows best those who are the guided.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 56. It is true thou wilt not be able to guide every one whom thou (O Massager of Allah PBUH) loves’; but Allah guides those whom He will and He knows best those who receive guidance.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Saad bin Abu Waqqas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: We left Makkah with the Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) for Al-Madinah, and when we were near Azwara,’ he [SAWW](PBUH) alighted (from his riding-camel) raised his hands in supplication to Allah for a while and prostrated himself. He remained for a long time in prostration. Then he stood up and raised his hands for a while, after which he prostrated himself (again), and remained for a long time in prostration. Then he stood up and raised his hands for a while, after which he prostrated himself for the third time. Then he   [SAWW](PBUH) said, “I supplicated my Rubb and made intercession for my Ummah, and He granted me one-third of them. So I again prostrated myself in gratitude to my Rubb. Then I raised my head and supplicated my Rubb for my Ummah, and He granted me another third of them. Again I raised my head and supplicated my Rubb for my Ummah and He granted me the last third of them. So I fell into prostration out of gratitude before my Rubb.”

[Abu Dawud, Hadith # 2775]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 56. “Allah guides whom He wills” The phrase “I supplicated my Rubb and made intercession for my Ummah” means that the Prophet (PBUH) prayed to Allah to pardon his Ummah and to admit them to Jannah. The interpretation of this Hadith is stated to be that ultimately all the Muslims will be sent to Jannah. They will not abide in Hell for ever. Some of them will go to Jannah after suffering the punishment for their major sins, some through the intercession of the Prophet (PBUH), and some by the Special Grace of Allah. This interpretation is no doubt true. This is confirmed by other Hadith and forms the belief of the followers of Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH).

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 55 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (14 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 55. And when they hear AlLaghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk), they withdraw from it and say: “To us our deeds, and to you your deeds. Peace be to you. We seek not the ignorant.”

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 55. And when they with firm belief on Allah, hear vain and worthless talk, they turn away therefrom and say: “To us our deeds, manners and conducts, and to you yours; peace be to you: we seek not the ignorant, and ill-mannered.”

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said,  “By Him in Whose Hand my soul is! You will not enter Jannah until you believe, and you shall not believe until you love one another. May I inform you of something, if you do, you love each other. Promote greeting amongst you (by saying As-salamu `Alaikum to one another)”.

[Muslim Book 01, Chapter 23, Hadith # 096]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 55. “Peace be to you” In this Hadith, Islam has been regarded as the medium of mutual love. This is the reason Muslims have been enjoined to greet each other regardless of acquaintance. It does not, however, mean that a Muslim will be a true believer or entitled to Jannah, by mere greeting. What it really means is that his Faith will become meaningful only when it is supported by actions. Greeting is an Islamic custom and a practical form and demonstration of it. The combination of Faith and its practice will take a Muslim to Jannah.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 54 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (13 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 54. These will be given their reward twice over, because they are patient, and repel evil with good, and spend (in charity) out of what We have provided them.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 54. Twice will they be given their reward, for that they have persevered, Patience refers to faith in the Prophets and the Divine Book and steadfastness in all kinds of situations.  When the first book came, I believed in it and then in the second.  They believed in the first prophet, then when the second prophet came, they believed in him.  There is a double reward for them, this virtue of theirs has also been described in the hadith.  The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, there is a double reward for three people, one of them is the People of the Book who believed in his Prophet and then believed in me.  (Sahih Bukhari) That is, they do not respond to evil with evil, but forgive and act with mercy.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Musa Al-Ashari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Three kinds of people will have a double reward: A man from the People of the Book who believes in his Prophet and (also) believes in Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH) ; a slave who discharges properly the duties towards Allah and towards his master; and a man who possesses a slave-girl and teaches her manners, educates her well, and frees her and then marries her.”

[Muslim Book 04, Chapter 55, Hadith # 655]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 54. “These will be given their reward twice over”

  1. Ahlul-Kitab means the people of the Scriptures that are the Jews and the Christians. This Hadith has an inducement for them that if they embrace Islam, they will be entitled to a double reward.
  2. Similarly, a sincere and well-wishing slave will also be entitled to a double reward because, on the one side, he obeys his master and bears all the trouble that is involved in his obedience, and on the other side, he also does justice to the worship of Allah.
  3. Muslims have been enjoined to impart proper education and training to their slaves, especially their slave-girls. In the latter case, they have been advised to liberate and marry them with all the essentials of marriage. That is, they should be given a dower and all other rights to which wives are entitled. There is a double reward for all these types of people.
