Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 50 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (11 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 50. (O Muhammad  SAWW [PBUH] But if they answer you not (i.e. do not believe in your doctrine of Islamic Monotheism, nor follow you), then know that they only follow their own lusts. And who is more astray than one who follows his own lusts, without guidance from Allah? Verily! Allah guides not the people who are Zalimun (wrong-doers, disobedient to Allah, and polytheists).

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 50. But if they hearken not to thee, know that they only follow their own lusts: and who is more astray than one who follows his own lusts, devoid of guidance from Allah. For Allah guides not people given to wrong doing. They were challenged to produce something better, to be a guide in life. But as they could not, it was evident that their objections were fractious. They were only following their own selfish lusts of power, monopoly, and exploitation of the poor and ignorant. How can such people receive guidance?

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Never a Prophet had been sent before me by Allah to his people but he had, among his people, (his) disciples and companions, who followed his ways and obeyed his command. Then there came after them their successors who proclaimed what they did not practice, and practiced what they were not commanded to do. And (he) who strove against them with his hand is a believer; he who strove against them with his heart is a believer; and he who strove against them with his tongue is a believer ; and beyond that there is no grain of Faith”.

[Muslim Book 01, Chapter 21, Hadith # 081]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 50. “Verily! Allah guides not the people who are Zalimun” This Hadith contains a very important prescription to prevent the Muslim society from all things which are forbidden in Islam. So long as Muslims adhered to it and ceaselessly and fearlessly performed their obligation of enjoining the right and forbidding the wrong, their society was largely safe from many evils and sins.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 49 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (10 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 49. Say (to them, O Muhammad  SAWW [PBUH] “Then bring a Book from Allah, which is a better guide than these two [the Taurat (Torah) and the Qur’an], that I may follow it, if you are truthful.”

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 49. The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) says to Kuffar if you are on the right path: “Then you should bring a Book from Allah, which is a better guide than either of them (Quran and Torah), that I may follow it! (do), if ye are truthful!”

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “I do not think that so-and-so understands anything of our Faith.”

[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 73, Hadith # 93]

Al-Bukhari said: Hazrat Al-Laith bin Saad (May Allah be pleased with him), who is one of the narrators of this Hadith, said: The two men mentioned by the Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH) in this Hadith were hypocrites (i.e., they revealed Faith and concealed disbelief).

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 49. “bring a Book from Allah, which is a better guide than these two” Hypocrites are also people of mischievous and doubtful conduct. It is, therefore, not only permissible but necessary to make people aware of their real position so that people become cautious about them and their religious and worldly life may remain safe from their machinations.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 48 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (09 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 48. But when the truth (i.e., Muhammad  SAWW PBUH with his Message) has come to them from Us, they say: “Why is he not given the like of what was given to Musa (Moses)? Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Musa PBUH (Moses) of old? They say: “Two kinds of magic [the Taurat (Torah) and the Quran] each helping the other!” And they say: “Verily! In both we are disbelievers.”

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 48. But (now), when the Truth has come to them from Ourselves, they say, “Why are not (Signs) sent to him, like those which were sent to Moses?” Do they not then reject (the Signs) which were formerly sent to Moses? They say: “Two kinds of sorcery, each assisting the other!” And they say: “For us, we reject all (such things)!” When a Revelation is sent to them, in the Qur’an, adapted to all their needs and the needs of the time they live in, they hark back to antiquity. The Prophet SAWW PBUH was in many respects like Moses, but the times in which he lived were different from the times of Moses, and his age did not suffer from the deceptions of sorcery, like that of Moses PBUH. The remedies which his age and future ages required (for his Message was universal) were different. His miracle of the Qur’an was different and more permanent than the Rod and the Radiant- White Hand of Moses PBUH. But supposing that Quraysh had been humored in their insincere demands, would they have believed? Did they believe in Moses? They were only put up by the Jews to make objections which they themselves did not believe in. Moses was called a sorcerer by the Egyptians, and the wonderful words of the Qur’an were called sorcery by Quraysh. As the Qur’an confirmed the Message of Moses, Quraysh objectors said that they were in collusion. Quraysh did not believe in Allah’s Revelation at all.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said,  “The religion (of Islam) is easy, and whoever makes the religion a rigor, it will overpower him. So, follow a middle course (in worship); if you can’t do this, do something near to it and give glad tidings and seek help (of Allah) at morning and at dusk and some part of night”.

[Al-Bukhari Book 01, Chapter 02, Hadith # 038]

Lesson : Besides moderation in worship, this Hadith enjoins that such times should be fixed for worship when one is fresh so that one feels pleasure in performing it. But this principle is for optional and voluntary prayers only. Obligatory Salats are to be performed at the prescribed times only.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 47 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (08 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 47. And if (Allah had) not (sent you to the people of Makkah) in case a calamity should seize them for (the deeds) that their hands have sent forth, they should have said: “Our Lord! Why didn’t you send us a Messenger? We should then have followed Your Ayat (Verses of the Quran) and should have been among the believers.”

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 47. If (We had) not (sent thee to the Quraysh), – in case a calamity should seize them for (the deeds) that their hands have sent forth, they might say: “Our Lord! Why didn’t Thou not send us a messenger? We should then have followed Thy Signs and been amongst those who believe!” Now that a warner has come among them with all the authority that previous Messengers possessed and with all the knowledge which can only come by divine inspiration, they have no excuse left whatsoever. They cannot say, “No warner came to us.’ If any evil comes to them, as the inevitable result of their ill deeds, they cannot blame Allah and say that they were not warned.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: When this Verse was revealed: “And warn your tribe (O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH) of near kindred”. (26:214) Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) called the Quraysh; when they gathered, he said to them: “O sons of `Abd Shams; O sons of Kaab bin Lu’ai, rescue yourselves from the Fire! O sons of Murrah bin Kaab, rescue yourselves from the Fire! O sons of `Abd Manaf, rescue yourselves from the Fire! O sons of `Abdul-Muttalib, rescue yourselves from the Fire! O Fatimah, rescue yourself from the Fire, for I have no power (to protect you) from Allah in anything except that I would sustain a relationship with you”.

[Muslim Book 01, Chapter 87, Hadith # 399].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 47. “And if (Allah had) not (sent you to the people of Makkah) in case a calamity should seize them for (the deeds) that their hands have sent forth” 1. This Hadith tells us that lineage in the Hereafter will not help anybody. So much so that even one’s relationship with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) shall not carry any weight on that day. The only thing that will then help in salvation will be one’s good deeds. People for whom the Prophet (PBUH) and pious men will intercede will be believers with some sins in their account and not the disbelievers devoid of Faith and good actions. Neither will anybody intercede for the infidels, nor will the infidels find salvation. 2. In preaching religion, priority must be given to one’s own close relatives. They deserve it more than anyone else, and for this reason Divine injunctions should be first conveyed to them. 3. Even if a Muslim’s relatives are pagans and polytheists, their rights of kinsmen and the demands of “maintaining the ties of kinship” enjoined by Islam must be fulfilled. The first and foremost demand of their rights is that they should be invited to the right path so that they will be saved from Hell-fire.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 46 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (07 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 46. And you (O Muhammad SAWW PBUH) were not at the side of the Tur (Mount) when We did call, [it is said that Allah called the followers of Muhammad SAWW PBUH, and they answered His Call, or that Allah called Musa (Moses)]. But (you  SAWW PBUH are sent) as a mercy from your Lord, to give warning to a people to whom no warner had come before you, in order that they may remember or receive admonition.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 46. Nor was thou at the side of (the Mountain of) Tur when Allah called (to Moses). Yet (art thou sent) as Mercy from thy Lord, to give warning to a people to whom no warner had come before thee: in order that they may receive admonition. These people were Quraysh. ‘Though thou didst not see how Moses was invested with the prophetic office at Mount Tur, thou hast had similar experience thyself, and We have sent thee to Quraysh to warn them of all their sins, and to repent and come into the Faith’.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “My parable and that of yours is like a man who kindled a fire. When it was illuminated all around him, the moths and grasshoppers began to fall therein. He tried to push them away, but they overcame him and jumped into it. I am catching hold of your waist ties (to save you) from fire, but you slip away from my hands”.

[Muslim Book 030, Chapter 06, Hadith # 5672].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 46. “But (you  SAWW PBUH are sent) as a mercy from your Lord” This Hadith mentions the extreme kindness which the Prophet (PBUH) had for the welfare of his followers. It also mentions the misfortune of those who would become the fuel of Hell for not accepting Islam despite the utmost affection and ardor of the Prophet (PBUH) to bring them in the fold of Islam. People who fail to accept Islam would fall in the Hellfire in the same way moths fall in the fire.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 45 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (06 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 45. (O Muhammad  SAWW PBUH) But Allah created generations [after generations i.e., before you and after Musa (Moses)], and long were the ages that passed over them. And you (O Muhammad  SAWW PBUH) were not a dweller among the people of Madyan (Midian), reciting Our Verses to them. But it is We Who kept sending (Messengers).

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 45. But Allah raised up (new) generations, and long were the ages that passed over them; but thou was not a dweller among the people of Madyan, rehearsing Our Signs to them; but it is We Who send messengers (with inspiration). That is, there were many generations that passed between Moses and the Prophet. Yet he knew by inspiration of the events of those times. Even if he had lived then, he could not have known the events that took place among the Midianites, except by inspiration, as he did not dwell among them. ‘Though thou was not among the Midianites, Our inspiration has told thee of the momentous events that took place among them when Moses was with them. This is itself a Sign that should make thy people understand.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Said Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “The life of the world is sweet and green. Allah makes you generations succeeding one another so that He may try you in respect of your actions. So, beware of the beguilements of the world and those of women. The first trial of Bani Israel was through women”.

[Muslim Book 36, Chapter 01, Hadith # 6606].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 45. “But Allah created generations after generations” Wealth and property of this world are favorites of everyone like the fresh fruit which is sweet, delicious and attractive for all. Everyone likes them and is attracted towards them. The most delicious fruit of this world is woman but at the same time it is the most baneful. One who inclines towards wealth and women and ignores the Islamic legal injunctions, has at stake both his Deen and Faith; and one who benefits from them keeping oneself within the bounds of Islam, would be safe from their ruinous effects.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 44 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (05 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 44. And you (O Muhammad  SAWW PBUH) were not on the western side (of the Mount), when Allah (SWT) made clear to Musa PBUH (Moses) the commandment, and you ( SAWW PBUH) were not among those present.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 44. Thou Prophet were not on the Western side when Allah decreed the Commission to Moses AS, or thou a witness (of those events). The Sinai Peninsula is in the northwest corner of Arabia. But the reference here is, to the western side of the valley of liiwa. Mount Tur, where Moses received his prophetic commission, is on the western side of the valley.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) used to supplicate: “Allahumma inni A’udhu bika minal-ajzi wal-kasali, wal-jubni wal-harami, wal-bukhli, WA A’udhu bika min `adhabil-qabri, wa A’udhu bika min fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat [O Allah! I seek refuge in You from helplessness (to do good), indolence, cowardice, senility, and miserliness; and I seek Your Protection against the torment of the grave and the trials of life and death].” Another narration adds: “wa dala`id-daini wa ghalabatir-rijal (And from the burden of indebtedness and the tyranny of men).”

[Muslim Book 35, Chapter 14, Hadith # 6536]

Lesson: This prayer is also very comprehensive. It is this mischief against which Allah’s Protection has been sought through this prayer.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 43 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (04 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 43. And indeed, We gave Musa AS (Moses), after We had destroyed the generations of old, the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)] as enlightenment for mankind, and guidance and a mercy, that they might remember (or receive admonition).

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 43. We did reveal to Moses the Book after We had destroyed the earlier generations, (to give) Insight to men, and guidance and Mercy, that they might receive admonition. After the destruction of the Pharaonic Tyranny and other similar Tyrannies before them, Allah began a new age of Revelation, the age of Moses and his Book. Humanity began as it were with a clean slate again. It was a full Revelation (or Shariah) which may be looked at from three points of view: (1) as Light or Insight for men, so that they should not grope in darkness; (2) as a Guide to show them the Way, so that they should not be misled into wrong Paths; and (3) as a Mercy from Allah, so that by following the Way they may receive Allah’s Forgiveness and Grace. In 6:91, we have a reference to Light and Guidance in connection with the Revelation of Moses, and in 6:154 we have a reference to Guidance and Mercy in the same connection. Here all three are combined, with the substitution of Basair fosr Nur. Basair is the plural of Basirah, and also translated Proofs, as I have done in 6:104 also 7:203, where the word is translated “Lights’ ‘.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Everyone will be raised in the condition in which he dies”.

[Muslim Book 40, Chapter 19, Hadith # 6878]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 43. “We had destroyed the generations of old” This Hadith signifies that if a person dies performing good deeds, he will have a good end; and the one who dies in misdeeds, he will come to a bad end. It is, therefore, necessary that one should always avoid disobedience of Divine injunctions, especially in old age and illness because one may fall in the clutches of death at any time.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 41 & 42 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (03 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 41. And We made them leaders inviting to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection, they will not be helped.

Ayat 42. And We made a curse to follow them in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection, they will be among Al-Maqbuhun (those who are prevented from receiving Allah’s Mercy or any good, despised or destroyed, etc.).

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 41 & 42. And we made them (but) leaders inviting to the Fire; and on the Day of Judgment no help shall they find. in this world We made a curse to follow them: And on the Day of Judgment, they will be among the loathed (and despised). Power and patronage may be lauded by sycophants and selfish place hunters; but when they are misused, and when their exposure causes their fall, they suffer ignominy even in this life. If they manage to escape exposure while alive, it often happens that they are found out after their death, and the curses of many generations follow those whose oppressions and wrongdoing spoiled the fair face of Allah’s earth. But even this is nothing to the true Punishment that will come in the Hereafter. There, true values will be restored, and some of the highest and mightiest will be in the lowest depths of degradation.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, “The (Hell) Fire is surrounded with all kinds of desires and passions, while Jannah is surrounded with adversities.”

[Muslim Book 40, Chapter 01, Hadith # 6779].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 42. “We made a curse to follow them in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection” The way to Hell is littered with these evils. When a person crosses them, it is an indication that he has entered Hell. On the other side exists a series of griefs and calamities, Islamic injunctions, and obligations (the compliance with which is often irksome for man) impede his way to Jannah. When a person endures them with patience, he, in fact, overcomes those obstacles and becomes eligible for Jannah.

Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 40 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (02 May 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 40. So, We seized him and his hosts, and We threw them all into the sea (and drowned them). So, behold what was the end of the Zalimun [wrong-doers, polytheists and those who disbelieved in the Oneness of their Lord (Allah), or rejected the advice of His Messenger Musa AS (Moses)].

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 40. So, We seized him and his hosts, and We flung them into the sea: Now behold what was the end of those who did wrong! Pharaoh and his hosts were drowned in the sea in their pursuit of the Israelites: see 7:130-136. They are the type of men who lead-only to Destruction.

They invite, not to Peace and Happiness, but to the Fire of Wrath, mutual Envy, and Hatred.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Allah, the Exalted, will continue to stretch out His Hand in the night so that the sinners of the day may repent, and continue to stretch His Hand in the daytime so that the sinners of the night may repent, until the sun rises from the west”.

[Muslim Book 05, Chapter 037, Hadith # 6644].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 40. “So We seized him and his hosts, and We threw them all into the sea (and drowned them)” This Hadith confirms an essential Attribute of Allah, i.e., the Hand which He stretches out anytime He wishes without drawing similarity to it, nor interpretation. Such was the attitude of the pious predecessors with regards to all the essential Attributes of Allah. It is deduced from this Hadith that if one commits a sin during any hour of day or night, he should immediately seek the forgiveness of Allah as a result.
