Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 7 & 8

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 7 & 8_*

*_Why do you not bring the angels to us, if you are telling the truth?(7)_*

*_We do not send down the angels except for just cause, and then in that case, they [the disbelievers] would have no respite.(8)_*

Apart from mocking the Noble Prophet ﷺ the disbelievers kept on making demands to prove the authenticity of his Prophethood.‼️ According to them, those who can carry the Ayat of Allah SWT are only angels, while humans are not capable of it. Even if humans are having a message then they should be accompanied by an angel to strengthen their claim and the people also should be able see and hear the angel. As Allah Azzawajal describes their thinking in Surah Furqan as
*_And they say ˹mockingly˺, “What kind of messenger is this who eats food and goes about in market-places ˹for a living˺? If only an angel had been sent down with him to be his co-warner,(25:7)_*

Their way of thinking was quiet similar to the way Pharoah used to misguide people about Prophet Musa(AS) as Allah Azzawajal describes in Surah Zukhruf

*_Why then have no golden bracelets ˹of kingship˺ been granted to him or angels come with him as escorts!”.(43:53)_*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that it is an honour that Allah Azzawajal chose few among human beings to convey HIS message.‼️ It is the ignorance of the disbelievers that they are unable to comprehend it. Actually Angels are sent down to a messenger of Allah Azzawajal to convey the message or when it is sent upon a community it is to destroy the disbelievers of that community when their term is up. At this point there can be no more respite and no further delay. From their attitude and manner, it is evident that their hearts have actually become hard and have been closed to accepting the truth. No matter what evidence is presented to them, they will still not believe, as Allah SWT
says in Surah An’am

*_Even if We had sent them the angels, made the dead speak to them, and assembled before their own eyes every sign ˹they demanded˺, they still would not have believed—unless Allah so willed. But most of them are ignorant ˹of this˺.(6:111)_*

— The Ayah teaches the Da’ee an important lesson that not to pay attention to the illogical demands of the disbelievers and opponents of religion. Because every request that is fulfilled will be met with another request.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to patience and perseverance in the path of Dawah. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 6

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayah 6_*

*_They say: O you to whom the Reminder [the Qur’an] has been sent down, you are surely insane!(6)_*

The Ayah describes the ill mannerisms of the disbelievers in addressing the Prophet ﷺ when he had only presented to them the Qur’ān which is a clear reminder of the truth.‼️ *They ridiculed him and spoke to him with extreme impudence* _They objected to the Qur’an without thinking and reflecting on the proofs and arguments in it that explain the signs of Allah Azzawajal’s power and greatness._ Because of their unwillingness to pay attention and a deep sense of fanaticism, they deny the Ayat of the Qur’an, as Allah SWT says:
*_Whenever a sign comes to them from their Lord, they turn away from it.(Surah An’am 6:4)_*

Their rudeness is carried still further as they insult the Prophet personally: *_“You are surely Insane!مَجنونٌ”_* This they did in response to his call on them to believe in Allah Azzawajal, using the Qur’ān in all its clarity to address them. They tried to do his *character assassination* by calling him Insane(Allah forbid) so that he is not approached and listened to by others.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand and realise that this is the same age old tactics used by the deniers of truth when they don’t have anything substantial to justify their false claims.‼️ If they really have certain points about the Qur’an, instead of abusing and arguing, they try through various forms of insults such as making caricatures or films, trying to tarnish the sanctity of the Islamic religion.

— To understand our duty to defend various forms of insults and wrong propaganda from enemies of Islam.❗ Therefore we should spend time in learning our own religion and life of Prophet ﷺ so that we are always ready with the truth to nullify their false narratives and propaganda. Some people’s opposition to the truth has reached to the level of naming themselves as progressive and polished people and the followers of Islam as crazy people.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability Stay firm upon the Deen and enlighten our hearts and soul with truth. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 4 & 5

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 4 & 5_*

*_We never destroyed any city but its appointed time had previously been decreed.(4)_*

*_No nation can bring its appointed time forward, nor can they delay it.(5)_*

The Ayat describe the universal law which Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has set in place for the punishing the defiant and arrogant disbelieving nations.‼️ *The end of each nation will come at the time appointed by Allah Azzawajal. Then it is the practices of each community that determine how these laws and how Allah Azzawajal’s order will operate.* _The disbelievers of Makkah used to ridicule the believers for not being inflicted with punishments upon them as promised if they were following wrong path._ *The Ayat refutes their fallacious perception as HE SWT prescribes a limit for every community to hear and understand the message and reform its ways.* Then HE SWT tolerates its mischief and evil deeds up to that limit and allow it full freedom to do as it likes, and give it respite till the term expires. *Hence no nation will be destroyed before the time fixed for it by HIM, nor can it survive beyond such a time, even for a moment.* As soon as this duration of respite expires, the unavoidable and decisive doom awaits them all.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the destruction of a people is not an arbitrary punishment from Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la rather the people bring it upon themselves by their own choice; for the fixed Law or Decree of Allah Azzawajal is always made known to them beforehand, and in many ways either by sending a Messenger or through the Message.‼️ *Neither the righteous nor the ungodly can hasten or delay the doom: Allah Azzawajal’s will must prevail, and HE SWT is All-wise.* Hence these Ayat warned the polytheists of Makkah who always hindered the Messenger of Allah Azzawajal and his companions from delivering their message. This reminder also applies to those who come later who do the actions similar to the various actions of the polytheists of Makkah that Allah Azzawajal’s decisions and warnings are sure to happen.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to abide by HIS commands and save us from wrath and punishments. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 3

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayah 3_*

*_Leave them to eat and enjoy themselves, and let [false] hope divert them. They will come to know.(3)_*

Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la asks the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to leave alone those disbelievers to eat and enjoy for a while if they don’t pay any heed to his advise.‼️ *The disbelievers are being compared to the animals whose only job is to satisfy their carnal desires as long as they live in this world.* _By immersing themselves in satisfying their desires they get fooled in false hopes of a long life and forgetting the death and accountability of the hereafter._

*_Surely Allah will admit those who believe and do good into Gardens under which rivers flow. As for the disbelievers, they enjoy themselves and feed like cattle. But the Fire will be their home.(Surah Muhammad 47:12)_*

As for eating and drinking, *a believer* does it too, and takes care of economic needs to the measure of necessity, and makes future plans for occupation and business as well. But, a believer would not make all these efforts by *forgetting death* and ignoring the concern for *’Akhirah.* _Therefore, he is careful about everything he does and finds out whether it is Halal or Haram, permissible or forbidden. Then, he does not occupy himself in the making of wasteful or unnecessary plans and projections, as hobby or compulsion._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that prioritising eating and drinking the real occupation and aim of life, and keeping glued to long-drawn material plans while surrounded by countless things of worldly comfort, and becoming totally heedless to death, is something which can be done only by the disbelievers.‼️ *Too much Indulgence in worldly pleasures makes a person heedless and he overlooks the facts of his existence, fate and the certainty of death*. _Man forgets that there is a duty to be fulfilled and a prohibition to be observed. He goes even further so as to forget Allah Azzawajal altogether and forget that he himself is going to die and then be resurrected in order to account for his deeds._

The Prophet ﷺ said Four things are signs of being unfortunate: (1) Not being able to shed tears (that is, not being in tears when ashamed of acts of negligence and sin); (2) and hard heartedness; (3) fanciful hopes and plans for the future; (4) and the greed for worldly things. (Qurtubi)

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to make Hereafter our main concern. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 2

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayah 2_*

*_There will come a time when those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims.(2)_*

The Ayah issues a warning to all those who disbelieve rather than regretting later for not having followed Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la and HIS Messengers.‼️ _After having described in the previous Ayah *the universality of the Qur’an which is available to all for pondering in the most clear terms,* yet the people choose to disregard this fact and follow their evil temptations and those who respond to this immense blessing by rejecting it and disbelieving in it, they are among the disbelievers who have gone astray; for them there will come a time when they will wish that they had been Muslims, that is, that they had followed its rulings._ *They will start regretting when the veil will be removed and the first signs of the hereafter and the precursors of death begin to appear.* The word *رُبَما Rubama* in Arabic can be translated as *Always or Quite Often.* At every stage of the hereafter, whenever they will face punishment and also when they see the sinful believers being granted forgiveness and will be taken out from hell fire they will be regretting for their being deprived of belonging to the religion of Truth and will wish that they were Muslims, but the time for that will have passed; however in this world they were deceived by their desires.
As Allah Azzawajal says in Qur’an
*_If only you could see when they will be detained before the Fire! They will cry, “Oh! If only we could be sent back, we would never deny the signs of our Lord and we would ˹surely˺ be of the believers.”(Surah Al-An’am 6:27)_*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand and take the warning seriously as the Qur’an has placed this point very clearly before the people so that they may come out of the whirlpool of the false religions and may enter the domain of Islam straightway, for this is the only way of salvation in the Hereafter.‼️ _Not only infidels will regret, but Muslims will also regret if they do not really become true Muslims. This is because the meaning of ‘muslim’ is to surrender completely to Allah ﷻ, obey HIS commands and abandon all His prohibitions._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder reflect and take heed before it is too late. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 1

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayah 1_*

*_Alif. Lam. Ra’. These are Ayat of the Book and a clear Qur’an.(1)_*

Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la introduces the Qur’an again by its high position, and the role of its Ayat in explaining the truth to mankind.‼️Allah ﷻ links the Qur’an that is there in Lauh Mahfuz and the Al-Qur’an that is in our hands and is being read in this world as both are the same. It has been delivered safely to us and its authenticity has been preserved. This is important because some dispute it.

When the word *الكِتٰبِ Kitaab* is used here, it signals that this Al-Qur’an also contains things that have been touched upon in previous books. So not only the current matter is touched upon in the Qur’an but it also confirms the truth of Tawheed as it has been touched upon in previous books. This is like the words of Allah ﷻ says:

*_HE has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.(Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:3)_*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the Arabic word *Qur’an* means *to read.* This infinitive name of the Divine Book signifies its readable quality, and that this book is worth reading again and again and is read frequently. The beginning of revelation was marked by the word *Iqra (read or recite)*, which reference also makes the name of the Book as Qur’an most appropriate.

As for its quality of being *‘Mubeen’ that is clear.* This describes the *function of the Qur’an* that is to give very clear message without any ambiguity. It’s message always manifests the truth. It is clear in its intents, purposes, teachings and instructions, allowing for no ambiguity in matters of right and wrong, truth and falsehood, virtue and evil. It is clear in itself, and making matters pertaining to the guidance quiet straight with no crookedness.( Compare this with other religious books which are full of confusion and misunderstandings.)

— _To understand that Qur’an is Mubeen(Clear) that is anybody who approaches the Qur’an will be able to get some message and find some level of benefit from it. It is not something that only the elite have access to and is not something that only the scholars should read._

— So let us learn to remain Clear in terms of Tauheed, let us make a clear attempt to remain upon the straight path and let us give a Clear Dawah and speak to the point.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder upon the teachings of the Qur’an and implement it in our daily life. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Brief introduction to Surah Al Hijr

*_A Brief Introduction to Surah 15 Al-Hijr_*

The period of its revelation is in Makkah when the persecution was at its maximum.

The Surah takes its name from Ayah 80 where the name *Hijr* meaning Rocky region has been mentioned.

*_Indeed, the residents of the Stone Valley also denied the messengers._*

*_Central Theme._*

It is about the same period as that of Surah Ibrahim, for two things are quite prominent in its background.

*1)First,* it appears from the repeated warnings in this Surah that in spite of the fact that the Noble Prophet SAWS had been propagating the Message for many years, his people in general had not shown any inclination towards its acceptance and they had become more and more obdurate and stubborn in their antagonism, enmity and ridicule with the passage of time.

*2)Secondly,* by that time the Noble Prophet SAWS had begun to feel a little tired of making strenuous efforts to eradicate disbelief and opposition of his people. That is why Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has consoled and comforted him over and over again by way of encouragement.

*Apart from warnings to the disbelievers and encouragement to the Prophet SAWS, the Surah also contains admonition and instructions.* _As a matter of fact, the Quran never confines itself to mere warning; rebuke and censure, but resorts to precept in every suitable place. Accordingly, this Surah contains brief arguments for Tauhid on the one hand, and admonition in the story of Adam AS and Shaitan on the other._

*Surah Al-Hijr encapsulates timeless lessons,* serving as a guide for believers facing adversity and emphasizing the consequences of rejecting divine guidance. *Through its narratives and admonitions, the surah urges believers to cultivate humility, obedience, and mindfulness of Allah Azzawajal.* _The rocky path, metaphorically represented in the title, symbolizes the challenges of life and the importance of steadfastness on the path of righteousness. By reflecting on the verses of Surah Al-Hijr, believers find timeless wisdom to navigate the rocky terrain of their spiritual journey._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to reflect and ponder upon the Ayat of Surah Hijr and take benefit. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Ibrahim – Ayah 52

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 52_*

*_”This (i.e; Qur’an) is the Message for mankind that they may be warned with it and that they may know that HE is ONLY ONE GOD and that men of understanding may take heed”.(52)_*

This is the *last Ayah* of the Surah Ibrahim.
The sūrah ends with something similar to its opening, *_Alif, Lam, Ra. This is a book We have sent down to you, that you may take the people out of (all sorts of) darkness into the light with the will of their Lord to the path of the Mighty, the Praiseworthy, [Ayah 1]_*
but it comes in the form of an open and loud declaration intended to inform all mankind that _Quran is a Message for all mankind so that they may be warned by it and realize that in fact there is but One God, and that men of understanding may learn a lesson from it.‼️_

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To open our eyes, hearts and minds so that we can see, think and feel the real aspect of Truth of Unity. The essential purpose of this message and the warning it contains is that people should know that “He is the One and Only God.”_‼️ This is the *basic concept* of this religion on which its code of living is built. What is required here is not that people should merely acquire such information. *The purpose is that they should conduct their lives on the basis of this knowledge.* It is that people should submit to Allah Azzawajal Alone, since HE SWT is the ONE and only God _all justice is of ONE standard, for truth is ONE. Let’s try to see the universality of Allah Azzawajal’s Message in Islam, that leads to the sublime doctrine Of Oneness, which will be seen In its fulness on the Great Day of resurrection._

_And the One true reality then emerges. Blessed are those who treasured this Truth in their souls already in their life of probation._

*_This is the end of the commentary on Surah Ibrahim._* _All praise and thanks are for Allah Azzawajal, and may the blessings and peace of Allah Azzawajal be upon Prophet Muhammad SAWS his family, and his Companions abundantly until the Day of Judgement. May Allah Azzawajal accept this humble attempt and grant us Hidayah and forgive our shortcomings and mistakes. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Ibrahim Ayah 51_*

*_”So that Allah may recompense each soul for what it earned. Indeed Allah is Swift in reckoning”.(51)_*

On the Day of Judgement, Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la will reward each soul according to what it earned by its own acts, good or evil, in its life of probation.‼️

*_Swift in reckoning = taking account;_* _We can understand this as; Let not the wicked think that because Allah Azzawajal, out of HIS infinite Grace and Mercy, grants respite, therefore the retribution (punishment) will be slow in coming. When the time comes in accordance with Allah Azzawajal’s plan and Wisdom, the punishment will come so swiftly that the ungodly will be surprised and they will wish they get more respite._

*_Act for the Day is_* : to understand that None of the people will remain without compensation. And no action in the world will be left without its repurcation in the Hereafter.‼️ *Thus, the Divine punishment and reward have their origin in our own practices.*

_To realise that on the great day of Reckoning, let it not be supposed that, because there will be billions of Souls to be judged, there will be any delay in Judgement as in a human tribunal. It will be a new world and beyond the flight of Time. Or if a metaphor from time as we conceive it in this world can be taken, it will be as it were in twinkling of an eye._ _*(Please ref S16:A77 also)*_

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to always do the Good and earn HIS pleasure. Aameen Ya Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Ibrahim Ayat 49 & 50_*

*_And you will see the evildoers that day bound together in shackles,(49)_*

*_Their garments of pitch and fire enveloping their faces,(50)_*

The Ayat show us a scene of the humiliating suffering which stands in contrast to the scheming and tyranny of those arrogant disbelievers.‼️ *The evil-doers are thus chained, each two together along with their devil’s whom they followed in similarity to their evil deeds with chains of fire according to their ranks and will be led away to their punishment in the most humiliating, horrible and terrifying manner.* Their humiliation is again indicative of Allah Azzawajal’s might. In addition to their being chained together, they wear special clothes made for the inhabitants of hell and it is has a pungent smell, which is made of a type of tar that burns easily so that their bodies become more and more engulfed in fire. The noblest part of their bodies that is the face will be surrounded by fire and will be burnt along with other parts of the body. As Allah Azzawajal says
*_On the Day they will be dragged into the Fire on their faces, ˹they will be told,˺ “Taste the touch of Hell!”(Surah Qamar 54:48)_*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to realise and imagine the clothes which are worn by those sinners in the world are usually beautiful clothes, that arouse a sense of arrogance and proud, but on the Day of Judgment it will be transformed into a form of punishment for them a they are made to wear clothes which are highly inflammable.

—To understand and ponder over the way the Qur’an describes the Day of Judgment so beautifully that it is as if we are invited to witness it directly right now. The goal is to remind us so that we don’t fall into it and take measures to avoid it.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and protect us from the fire of jahannam. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aalameen._*
