Surah Al Isra – Ayah 20

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 20_*

*_On all – both the latter and the former – We bestow of the bounty of your Lord. Verily the bounty of your Lord is not denied [to anyone].(20)_*

The Ayah describes that both groups that is, the obedient and the disobedient, the good and the evil, the believer and the unbeliever. receive Allah Azzawajal’s bounty which is open to all and restricted to none.‼️ *This bounty is common, exactly according to that wisdom according to which this world was created.* This is Allah Azzawajal’s compassion to all of HIS creation by making all the blessings available to them so that every body can exhibit his positive and negative attributes by utilising them in a way either pleasing or displeasing to Allah Azzawajal.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that we have to prepare ourselves to answer in the Hereafter for all the bounties received from Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la.‼️ The amount of wealth a person has in this world is not to be connected to oneself being close to Allah Azzawajal or being liked by HIM. It has been stated in the Hadith that
_“When you see that Allah Taʿala gives a person (material) things of the worldly life which he desires whilst he remains persistent in sinning, then [know] that it is only *istidrāj* from Allah Taʿala.” (Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4 p.145)_

This Hadith shows us that such people (as described above) are only gradually being led astray and lured into destruction. Every new bounty they are blessed with is not a result of the good life they are living, but rather it is a trap. With the coming of each blessing they begin to feel more and more entitled and even start boasting about it. This then becomes a means of them being blinded from the reality of the Hereafter, and thus they slowly begin to completely indulge in transgression.

This Ayah reminds us:

1. To recognise and appreciate Allah Azzawajal’s bounty.
2. To understand the universality of Allah Azzawajal’s mercy.
3. To strive to be grateful for Allah Azzawajal’s generosity.
4. To acknowledge the limitless nature of Allah Azzawajal’s bounty.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to remain grateful for all of HIS blessings through our Obedience. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 19

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 19_*

*_”And whoever desires the Hereafter and exerts the effort for it while he is a believer (in the Oneness of Allâh – Islâmic Montheism), then it is those whose effort is appreciated (by Allah).(19)_*

In this Ayah it has been made explicit that every deed and every effort is not necessarily beneficial or acceptable with Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la.‼️ *Instead, the only deed or effort credible is that which is appropriate to the essential objective of the Hereafter.* And whether or not it is appropriate can only be found out from the statement and directions of Allah Ta’ala and His Messenger SWS. Therefore, even well meaning efforts made by insisting on *bland personal opinion and self invented ways which includes common customs of Bid’ah (innovations in established religion) no matter how good and beneficial they may appear at their face, but are not appropriate to the effort made for the Hereafter.* Consequently, *they are neither acceptable with Allah Azzawajal nor are they of any use in the Hereafter.* The word *’effort’* should be in *accordance with ‘sunnah. Along with it, it adds that this effort or deed should also have uprightness and firmness*. In other words, this deed should be beneficial in accordance with the Sunnah as well as it should be *upright and constant.* Doing it *haphazardly or doing it in a cycle of doing and not doing is not good.* It never yields the maximum benefit.

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To note that A mere wish for moral and spiritual good is not good enough. *It must be backed up by hard endeavour and supported by a lively Imaan.*‼️ Only on “those conditions the wishes are accepted by Allah Azzawajal”._

–To understand that Imaan is not a matter that people *attain through idle wishes, but it is rather an idea that is firmly held as a belief, and clearly endorsed by action.* Pursuit of the hereafter does not *deprive anyone* of the wholesome pleasures of this life. *It simply opens up wider horizons before us.* _Thus, enjoyment and pleasure are not the driving goal. There is no harm in seeking pleasure, provided however that one is not captivated or enslaved by it._ *A life that seeks nothing more than the pleasures of this world is fitting only for worms, reptiles, insects, cattle and wild beasts*. _It is only the life that pursues the rewards of the hereafter that is *fitting for man who has been the recipient of honour bestowed on him by Allah*. It is Allah Azzawajal who has created man and fashioned him, planting in his soul a secret that motivates him to *look up to higher horizons* even when his *feet are solidly planted on earth*._

_Let’s pray that our Imaan is accepted and we fulfil the criteria for acceptance of our striving for the things of *”Hereafter”,* by having *Strong Imaan,* and may we all be guided to a sense of personal responsibility._ Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen.

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 18

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 18_*

*_Whoever seeks [the pleasures of] this fleeting life, We hasten therein whatever We will for whomever We please. Then We decree for him hell, which he will enter, disgraced and rejected.(18)_*

The Ayah emphasises the fleeting nature of worldly life and warns against seeking only worldly pleasures.‼️ The word *Ajilah عَاجِلَةَ* means that which hastens or that which gives benefits quickly. *A person who makes the world as his goal and thinks that he will get everything quickly has been made clear here that it is not necessary he should always get many worldly benefits quickly and immediately, but this also depends on the will of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la. HE SWT decides how much and when to give it to anyone.* _once such a person is given worldly gains then there is no share for such a man in the benefits of the Hereafter, on the contrary he will have to face very bad conditions, and deprived of Allah Azzawajal’s mercy will have to enter the Hell._ This severe punishment will be given to him, because he was sent to the world to reap the benefits of the Hereafter and keep that in view and to act in the world in such a way that the result of his acts should give good rewards in the Hereafter, but he did not care for the Hereafter and engaged himself for his whole life in gathering the benefits of the world. In this way he lived as *transgressor* against his Lord and so his whole life was a great mistake.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that those who do not aspire to anything beyond this world are short sighted and greedy .‼️ Such people do not believe in the existence of a day of resurrection and a day of judgment, so they believe that there is no life after death. _Therefore, life in this world and its luxuries are described by Allah Azzawajal as something that can be immediately obtained and felt, but which will soon be lost and end and whatever remains in the Hereafter is long lasting and permanent._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to strive for Hereafter and earn Jannah. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 17

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 17_*

*_How many nations We have destroyed since the time of Nooh! Your Lord is sufficiently aware of the sins of His slaves and sees them all.(17)_*

This Ayah highlights the responsibility of every community, as it makes clear that this law has remained operative since Prophet Nuh’s(AS) time.‼️ This Ayah is a confirmation of the previous one, that every community who remain rebellious after the arrival of the messenger who warns them, will certainly experience the same fate as the previous nations.

At the end of this Ayah, Allah SWT mentions that such a recompense is a wise and just recompense, because Allah Azzawajal has warned them and knows their actions. Allah Azzawajal is aware of the sins of HIS creations.

*_Act of the Day is_* to understand and reflect upon the past history.‼️ _The previous rebellious nations were destroyed because they went astray and disbelieved. This is the sunnatullah that has been repeated over the ages. We have read a lot in the surahs of the Quran about them such as the people of Aad, Thamud, Lut and so on._

— _To focus upon the words *بَصيرًا Baseera means to see*. Allah ﷻ does not just see but HE SWT knows deeply, which is *خَبيرًا khabeera.* This Ayah reminds us that Allah ﷻ always sees all the sins we are doing every now and then and is well aware of our acts. So we should feel ashamed of our disobedience and be mindful of the presence of Allah ﷻ everytime and everywhere around us._

The Ayah reminds us
1. To recognize Allah Azzawajal’s power and authority.
2. To avoid sin and disobedience.
3. To appreciate Allah Azzawajal’s knowledge and awareness.
4. To learn from the examples of past nations.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and grant us the ability to earn HIS pleasure through our Obedience and save us from falling into sins and going astray. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 16

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 16_*

*_When it is Our will to destroy a city, We command its affluent people [to fear Allah], but they transgress. Thus the punishment becomes inevitable, then We destroy it completely.(16)_*

The Ayah describes a universal law that Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has set in operation with regards to destruction of a community.‼️ _Allah Azzawajal has given man reason and choice and has determined the ways of reward and punishment. Allah Azzawajal has willed that human life should run according to set laws which never fail or change. A cause has its effect, and the effect takes place as a result of the operation of HIS will that has set this law in operation._ *Allah Azzawajal does not approve of indecency or transgression.* Allah Azzawajal’s Mercy gives every chance to the wicked to repent. When wickedness gets so rampant that punishment becomes inevitable, even then Allah Azzawajal’s Mercy and Justice act together. *Those who are highly gifted from HIM, it may be with wealth or position, or it may be with talents and opportunities are expected to understand and obey.* _They are given a definite order and warning. If they still transgress there is no further room for argument. They cannot plead that they are ignorant. The command of the Lord is proved against them, and its application is called for beyond doubt. Then it is that their punishment is completed.”_

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the *affluent group of people* are specifically mentioned because it is these people, more than any other class, that need to be grateful to their Lord for HIS blessings.‼️ _In any case, after the initial warning, HE SWT allows them several reprieves. But, when they persist in sins, the word of punishment comes true and they are destroyed._

—To understand that Allah doesn’t intends to destroy it without any reason.❗ *It is destroyed because after their disobedience that habitation incurs HIS just wrath and HE SWT totally exterminates it.* _The habitation deserves such a punishment because its *common people follow the affluent people* who are the factual leaders of a community and are mainly responsible for the corruption of the community. At first the affluent people commit acts of disobedience, wickedness, mischief, cruelty and tyranny and then the common people follow them and incur the torment of Allah Azzawajal._ *Incidentally, this is a warning for every community* that it should be very discreet and prudent in *choosing and electing its leaders and rulers*, for if the latter are mean and wicked, they will inevitably lead the community to destruction.

–In essence, this Ayah reminds us that our actions have consequences, and that Allah Azzawajal’s justice will ultimately prevail.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to understand our responsibility and make us grateful for HIS blessings through our Obedience and earn HIS pleasure. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 15_*

*_”Whoever is guided, is only guided for the (benefit of) his soul. And whoever goes astray, only goes astray against it (soul). And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And We will not punish until We have sent a Messenger”.(15)_*

_The doctrine of personal responsibility is insisted on, and the basis of ethics is shown to be our own good or evil as furthering or obstructing our highest development._

_*The Qur’an has laid great stress on the doctrine of personal responsibility at several places,* for one cannot follow the Right Way scrupulously without understanding fully its implication. *It means that, everyone is solely responsible for one’s moral conduct and is accountable to Allah Azzawajal as an individual in one’s own person, and no other person can share the burden of responsibility with him.*_ (refer S6:A164 too)

_*This doctrine has been emphasized over and over again so that a wise man should not act in imitation of another.* If a particular person feels the sense of his own responsibility, he shall act in such a way as to come out successful on the Day of Judgment, regardless of what the others do. Yet as a sign of Allah’s grace, *HE SWT does not leave man’s guidance dependent only on the signs that are available in the universe. Nor does HE SWT leave him to the covenant HE SWT has made with human nature before a person is born❗*. HE SWT has sent messengers to warn and remind and HE SWT will never visit HIS wrath on anyone until due warning is conveyed to humans through an accredited Messenger._

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To Continuously monitor our Thoughts Words & Deeds. *Also monitor that which we forward on WhatsApp, as it could become a witness against us on the Day of Judgement for spreading fitnah.*_ _Let’s remind ourselves that, we are responsible for our own actions and we can’t even blame Shaitaan for it._

_*Allah SWT has sent His most lovable Messenger ‘Mohammed’ (Sallellahu Alaihi Wasallam), as Mercy to the Whole mankind.*_
_”So we shall educate ourselves in the light of Qur’an and Hadees, *’Help each other, Love each other and Live together’ – without pointing fingers at others, with Patience and show the right path to each other.”*_

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect and take measures so as to gain HIS Mercy on the Day of judgement. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 13 & 14

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah Al-Isra Ayat 13 & 14_*

*_”And for every person We have fastened his fate to his neck; and We will produce for him on the Day of Resurrection a record which he will find wide open.”(13)_*

*_”(It will be said to him), Read your book.” Sufficient is yourself against you today as accountant.”(14)_*

_”We have fastened the augury (a sign of what will happen in the future), of every man to his own neck”; therefore one does not need to take omens from a bird; (This is to remove the superstition of the disbelievers who used to take omens from birds etc.), as if to say, “The causes and consequences of good fortune or bad fate exist in man’s own person. He merits good fortune because of his own good conduct and good judgment, and likewise, suffers the consequences of evil fate by the lack of these”._

_On the *’Day of Judgement’,* Our real fate depends upon our deeds, good or evil, and they will hang around our necks, so that we can clearly see them without any doubt._ Thus we have here a *metaphor* referring to what flies of a *person’s actions and becomes tied around his neck, so that it never parts from him*. Thus does the Qur’ān in *graphically* describing things in order to emphasize its point. *A person’s actions do not leave him, and he cannot disown them*. The same applies to the wide open record of all his actions. Thus whatever he has done in life is laid bare, a person cannot hide, ignore or disown it

*Act for the Day is:* _To be aware of the fact that, “Our true accusers are our own deeds.” Let’s look to our own deeds instead of vainly prying into other’s._‼️
_*These deeds, good or evil, will be embodied in a scroll which will be quite open to us in the light of the Day of Judgement, however much we may affect to be ignorant of it now or waste our energies in prying into mysteries that do not concern us.*_

It has been reported from Qatadah that *it will be a day when even an illiterate person will be able to read his book of deeds*. On this occasion, al-Isbahani has reported on the authority of Abu Umamah RA that the Noble Prophet SWS said: On the day of Qiyamah, when the book of deeds belonging to people will be given in their hand, someone will notice that *some of his good deeds were not recorded there. He will tell his Lord about the particular deeds missing from there*. HIS Lord will tell him that HE SWT had *erased* those deeds for *he used to speak ill of people on their backs*.

_Let’s often remind us about this fact; *(CMCG),* that we are *Continuously* being *Monitored* for our *Continuous Growth* and hence, keep track of our thoughts, words, and actions, and make sure that; they are *pleasing to Allah SWT*._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to always do the good and make it easy for us on the Day of judgement. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_We have made the night and the day as two [of Our] signs. We obscured the sign of the night with darkness and gave light to the sign of the day, so that you might seek the bounty of your Lord and know the number of the years and the reckoning of time. And We have explained all things in detail.(12)_*

The Ayah describes the most perfect power and wisdom of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la in the alternation of the Day and Night.‼️ *Day and night are two events that always alternate which are very useful for the welfare of human life in carrying out religious obligations and worldly affairs.* _The divine arrangement is such that humans and animals go to sleep in the darkness of that very night. In fact, the whole world sleeps simultaneously in harmony with its night. Had different people been scheduled to sleep at different timings, the noises made by those awake and those working at jobs would have turned the sleep of the sleeping into a nightmare. As for the day being bright, it has two elements of wisdom. Firstly, one can earn his living in the light of the day and natural light is needed for jobs, businesses and industries. Secondly, the alternation of night and day helps one know the number of years, for instance, the completion of three hundred and sixty days tells us that a full year has gone by._ Allah Azzawajal has made the *night a sign* having distinguishing features by which it is known. These features include the darkness and the appearance of the moon. *The day also has distinguishing features* by which it is known; the light and the appearance of the shining sun. *HE SWT made a distinction between the light of the moon and the light of the sun, so that they may be distinguished from one another.* Whoever observes and thinks about the change of day and night will certainly be convinced that this universe is regulated by very good and *precise rules, and also shows that its regulator is very precise.* _Thus, humans will be guided to acknowledge the existence of the Creator of this universe and all its contents._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the wisdom that underlies variety in the world and not get confused and long for monotonous uniformity.‼️ *In fact, the whole system is based on variety, distinctiveness and diversity in things and without this variety there would have been hardly any activity in the world.* _Likewise great wisdom lies in the creation of the people with different temperaments, thoughts and inclinations. If Allah Azzawajal had made all men righteous by birth or annihilated disbelievers and wicked people and left only believers and submissive people in the world, the purpose of men’s creation could not leave been realised._ Therefore, it is wrong to desire that there should only be day and no night. *The righteous thing is that people, who have the light of guidance, should exert their utmost to remove the darkness of deviation.* It is our duty that if we find darkness like that of night, we should pursue it like the sun so that the light of guidance should reappear.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la enlighten our Imaan through HIS guidance and constant support and save us from deviations and going astray. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 11

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 11:_*

*_”And man prays for evil as he prays for good, and man is ever hasty.”(11)_*

_Man in his ignorance or haste mistakes evil for good, and desires what he should not have‼️. *That is why AIlah says, “Man does so because he is very hasty and impatient,”* He prays to Allah for alI such things as are the immediate need of the time, though often *subsequent experience shows that if Allah had granted his prayer, it would have been very harmful to him.*_

This is a common weakness of a human being, in which men and women are equal participants. Besides this general meaning or the Ayah, it particularly refers to the infidels of Makkah who were demanding of the Prophet (Sallal Lahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) that he should hasten the Divine punishment about which he was warning them. They are being told that for them good has come down from their Lord in the form of Qur’an and their reaction should have been that they would pray for this good for themselves from their Lord, but instead of rushing to this good fortune they are demanding for punishment, which if it came down would be an evil consequence for them.

*_Act for the Day_* is: _To have patience and *never put our own desires above the Wisdom of Allah. Receive the favours of Allah with contentment and pray to be rightly guided in our desires and petitions.*_

As Allah Azzawajal says in Surah Yunus:

*_If Allah were to hasten evil for people as they wish to hasten good, they would have certainly been doomed. But We leave those who do not expect to meet Us to wander blindly in their defiance.(10:11)_*

–A true believer should know that everything happens by the will of Allah SWT, in accordance with HIS laws and in accordance with HIS decrees and regulations.
*A believer should avoid praying for evil as much as they can*. Abu Bakr Al-Bazzar recorded in his Musnad that Jabir(RA) said, “Allah’s Messenger SAWS said:

_“Do not pray against yourselves, do not pray against your children, do not pray against your wealth, for your prayer may coincide with a time of response from Allah and Allah will respond to you.”_

This Hadith was also recorded by Abu Dawud. (Abu Dawud 2:185)

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to have patience and Tawakkul in all situations. Aameen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen_*

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 9 & 10

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayat 9 & 10_*

*”Indeed, this Qur’an, guides to that which is most straight and gives glad tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward”(9)*

*”And that those who do not believe in the Hereafter – We have prepared for them a painful punishment”.(10)*

_The message of the Qur’an is for all and easy to Understand for all, provided a sincere effort is made‼️._

The way to which the Qur’an guides has been called *’aqwam*,’ the most upright. *’Aqwam*’ can be explained by saying _that it is a way that is closer to the destination, is easy and free of dangers at the same time. (Qurtubi)_ *This tells us that the rules set for human life by the Holy Qur’an are a combination of all three features mentioned above.*
_Those who have faith and show that faith in their conduct, must reap their spiritual reward. *But those who reject Faith cannot escape punishment.* There is spiritual Hope – and a spiritual danger – for every soul._

*_Act for the Day is:_* to understand that the Qur’ān ensures harmony between man’s outward and inward existence, feelings and behaviour, faith and action. In all this it shows the way to what is ‘most upright’, linking all these aspects to the true and unseverable bond that exists between man and Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la. This enables man to look up to a higher horizon while he is still on earth.‼️ *The Qur’ān establishes a perfect balance between duties and abilities*

_To practically make the Qur’an available for all. And, its our duty to put good deeds into action for the sake of spiritual benefits and not for the sake of any other purposes._

_We shall instruct humankind in righteousness; warn and shield humankind Against evil. But, remember that nothing can lessen Each soul’s personal responsibility For its own deeds. *It carries its fate Round its own neck.* Allah Azzawajal’s gifts are for all, but not all receive The same gifts, nor are all gifts are of equal dignity or excellence._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder upon the Qur’an and make it easy for us to implement it in our daily life. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
