Surah Al-Ankabut Ayat 63 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (27 July 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[29].Surah Al-Ankabut [The Spider]

Ayat 63. If you were to ask them: “Who sends down water (rain) from the sky, and gives life therewith to the earth after its death?” They will surely reply: “Allah.” Say: “All the praises and thanks be to Allah!” Nay! Most of them have no sense.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Ankabut (The Spider) Ayat 63. And if indeed thou ask them who it is that sends down rain from the sky, and gives life therewith to the earth after its death, they will certainly reply, “(Allah)!” Say, “Praise be to Allah.” But most of them do not understand. The point was that there is a certain type of man that realizes the power of Allah, but yet goes after false ideas and false worship. Here the point is that there is another type of man to whom the goodness of Allah is made clear by rain and the gifts of nature and who realizes the daily, seasonal, and secular changes which evidence Allah’s goodness in giving us life (physical and spiritual) and reviving us after we seem to die,-and who yet fails to draw the right conclusion from it and to make his own life true and beautiful, so that when his period of probation in this transitory life is ended, he can enter into his eternal heritage. Having come so far such men fail at the crucial stage. At that stage they ought to have praised and glorified Allah, and accepted His Grace and Light, but they show their want of true understanding by failing to profit from Allah’s gifts

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) was asked about observing As-Saum (the fast) on the tenth day of Muharram, and he replied, “It is expiation for the sins of the preceding year.”

[Muslim Book 06, Chapter 33, Hadith # 2603]

Lesson:  Ashura’ 10th of Muharram. In another Hadith, it is stated that when the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) emigrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah, he saw that the Jews were fasting on this day. He asked them why they did this on that day and they told him that they did it for the reason that Allah granted Prophet Musa emancipation from Pharaoh on this day, and so they observed Saum in token of their joy. On this, he (PBUH) said that in this happiness of Prophet Musa, Muslims have a greater right to observe Saum than the Jews. Consequently, he also observed Saum on 10th of Muharram. Then, he said that if he lived the following year, he would observe Saum on 9th of Muharram also so that they would make themselves different from the Jews. According to another Hadith, he (PBUH) ordained the Muslims to observe Saum on `Ashura’ and in addition one more Saum on 9th or 11th of Muharram in opposition to the Jews. Some people think these words stand to mean that he will observe Saum on the 9th of Muharram only. But this interpretation does not agree with other Hadith. In order to oppose the Jews, he [SAWW](PBUH) resolved to observe one more Saum with that of the 10th of Muharram and ordained it for the Muslims.
