[29].Surah Al-Ankabut [The Spider]
Ayat 64. And this life of the world is only amusement and play! Verily, the home of the Hereafter, that is the life indeed (i.e., the eternal life that will never end), if they but knew.
Tafseer of Surah Al-Ankabut (The Spider) Ayat 64. What is the life of this world but amusement and play? but verily the Home in the Hereafter,-that is life indeed, if they but knew. Cf. 6:32 . Amusement and play have no lasting significance except as preparing us for the serious work of life. So this life is but an interlude, a preparation for the real Life, which is in the Hereafter. This world’s vanities are therefore to be taken for what they are worth; but they are not to be allowed to deflect our minds from the requirements of the inner life that really matters.
English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with both of them) reported that when Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) came to Medina, he found the Jews observing the fast on the day of Ashura. They (the Jews) were asked about it and they said: It is the day on which Allah granted victory to Moses and (his people) Bani Israel over the Pharaoh and we observe fast out of gratitude to Him. Upon this the Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said: We have a closer connection with Moses than you have, and he commanded to observe fast on this day.

Lesson: Ashura’ 10th of Muharram. In another Hadith, it is stated that when the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) emigrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah, he saw that the Jews were fasting on this day. He asked them why they did this on that day, and they told him that they did it for the reason that Allah granted Prophet Musa [PBUH] emancipation from Pharaoh on this day, and so they observed Saum in token of their joy. On this, he [SAWW](PBUH) said that in this happiness of Prophet Musa [PBUH], Muslims have a greater right to observe Saum than the Jews. Consequently, he also observed Saum on 10th of Muharram. Then, he said that if he lived the following year, he would observe Saum on 9th of Muharram also so that they would make themselves different from the Jews.
