Surah Ar-Rum Ayat 57 & 58 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (14 Sep 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[30].Surah Ar-Rum [The Romans]

Ayat 57. So on that Day no excuse of theirs will avail those who did wrong (by associating partners in worship with Allah, and by denying the Day of Resurrection), nor will they be allowed (then) to return to seek Allah’s Pleasure (by having Islamic Faith with righteous deeds and by giving up polytheism, sins and crimes with repentance).

Ayat 58. And indeed, Allah has set forth for mankind, in this Qur’an every kind of parable. But if you (O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH) bring to them any sign or proof, (as evidence for the truth of your Prophet hood), the disbelievers are sure to say (to the believers): “You follow nothing but falsehood, and magic.”

Tafseer of Surah Al Rum (The Romans) Ayat 57 and 58. So on that Day no excuse of theirs will avail the Transgressors, nor will they be invited (then) to seek grace (by repentance). It will be no use for those who deliberately rejected the clearest warnings in Allah’s Message to say: “Oh we did not realize this!” The excuse will be false, and it would be unreasonable to suppose that they would then be asked to seek Grace by repentance. It will then be too late (Cf. 16:84). Verily Allah has propounded for men, in this Quran every kind of Parable: But if thou bring to them any Sign, the Unbelievers are sure to say, “Ye do nothing but talk vanities.” Things of the highest moment have been explained in the Qur’an from various points of view, as in this Surah itself, by means of parables and similitude drawn from nature and from our ordinary daily life. But whatever the explanation, however convincing it may be to men who earnestly seek after Truth, those who deliberately turn their backs to Truth can find nothing convincing. In their eyes the explanations are mere “vain talk” or false arguments.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Convey from me even an Ayah of the Qur’an; relate traditions from Bani Israel, and there is no restriction on that; but he who deliberately forges a lie against me let him have his abode in the Hell.”

[Al-Bukhari 04, Chapter 56, Hadith # 667].

This Hadith contains the following three important points:

  1. It stresses the importance of acquiring knowledge of the Qur’an and Hadith and imparting it to others. No matter whether one has more or less knowledge, he must communicate it to others. There is no justification to presume that preaching or inviting to the Message of Allah is the duty of religious scholars and those who are well-versed in this sphere. In fact, it is a duty upon every Muslim, so much so that if a person knows even a single Verse of the Qur’an, that is to say if he knows only one injunction of Allah, he is duty bound to communicate it to other people.
  2. It allows the communication of Jewish Traditions but this permission is subject to the condition that such Traditions are not against the elucidations of the Qur’an and Hadith.
  3. There is a stern warning on attributing any false saying to the Prophet[SAWW](PBUH). This demands strict scrutiny of Hadith. If a Hadith does not have a reliable authority or whose chain of narrators has a false link or a person of doubtful integrity, that is to say if it is weak, then it is a serious offense to quote it as a Hadith of the Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH).
