Surah Ar-Rum Ayat 59 & 60 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (15 Sep 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[30].Surah Ar-Rum [The Romans]

Ayat 59. Thus does Allah seal up the hearts of those who know not [the proofs and evidence of the Oneness of Allah i.e., those who try not to understand true facts that which you (Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH) have brought to them].

Ayat 60. So be patient (O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH). Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and let not those who have no certainty of faith, discourage you from conveying Allah’s Message (which you are obliged to convey)

Tafseer of Surah Al Rum (The Romans) Ayat 59 and 60. Thus does Allah seal up the hearts of those who understand not. When an attitude of obstinate resistance to Truth is adopted, the natural consequence (by Allah’s Law) is that the heart and mind get more and more hardened with every act of deliberate rejection. It becomes more and more impervious to the reception of Truth, just as a sealed envelope is unable to receive any further letter or message after it is sealed (Cf. 2:7 and n. 31, 6:46 , and 16:108). 60. So patiently persevere: for verily the promise of Allah is true: nor let those shake thy firmness, who have (themselves) no certainty of faith. The Prophet of Allah does not slacken in his efforts or feel discouraged because the Unbelievers laugh at him or persecute him or even seem to succeed in blocking his Message. He has firm faith, and he knows that Allah will finally establish His Truth. He goes on in his divinely entrusted task, with patience and perseverance, which must win against the levity of his opponents, who have no faith or certainty at all to sustain them.

These are the last Ayats of Ar-Rum (Romans), 30th Surah of Al-Quran, this Surah contained 60 Ayats, Insha Allah from tomorrow 31st Surah of Al-Quran Surah Luqman will start

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Said Ar-Rafi bin Al-Mu’alla (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Shall I teach you the greatest Surah in the Qur’an before you leave the masjid?” Then he  [SAWW](PBUH), took me by the hand, and when we were about to step out, I reminded him of his promise to teach me the greatest Surah in the Qur’an. He  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “It is `Alhamd ul Lillahi Rabbil `Alamin (i.e., Surat Al-Fatihah) which is As-Sab` Al-Mathani (i.e., the seven oft-repeated Ayat) and the Great Qur’an which is given to me.”

[Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 60, Hadith # 170].

Lesson : This Hadith is an elaboration of the Quranic Ayah quoted above. The Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH) held that As-Sab’ Al-Mathani is Surat Al-Fatihah (the Opening Chapter) because these seven Ayat are recited not only in every Salat but in every Rak`ah of every Salat for the reason that no Salat is valid without the recitation of this Surah, as is evident from the saying of the Prophet (PBUH): “The Salat of that person who has not recited Surah Al-Fatihah is void.” It has also been regarded as the greatest Surah of the Qur’an as it covers all the objects of the Qur’an and is a condensation of all the subjects which have been discussed in detail in its other Surah. It includes the belief in the Tauhid (the belief in the Oneness of Allah)), the worship of Allah, the Day of Resurrection, promise (of Jannah) and warning (against Hell-fire), instances of the pious and impious people of the past communities, and the lessons their conduct has for others. Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi have reported a Hadith in which the Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said: “Al-hamdu Lillahi Rabbil `Alamin (i.e., Surat Al-Fatihah) is Umm-ul-Qur’an that is its origin, basis and essence”.
