*This is the story of an Ansaari man whom the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam regarded as a man of Paradise*, then ponder hard from how far we are from this man with all these quick/instant judgements we give to others!
_____

Anas Ibn Malik Radiyallahu Anhu once narrated, “One day, we were sitting with the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam and he said: “Now there will come before you a man of Paradise.”

Soon one of the Ansaar entered, shoes in hand, water from ablution dripping from his beard. The next day, the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam said the same thing. Then we saw the same person we had seen the previous day, in the same condition. On the third day, the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam said the same thing. We again saw the same Ansaari enter, carrying shoes in his hand, water dripping from his beard.

“When the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam left, ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr Ibn Al’As Radiyallahu Anhu followed the Ansaari and said to him, ‘I’ve quarreled with my father and swore I would not go to him for three days. Will you please let me stay with you for three days?”

“The Ansaari replied, ‘Alright, you may.”

”’Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr Ibn Al’As Radiyallahu Anhu related that he spent three nights with the person: ‘I discovered that he did not get up at any time in the night for prayers.
*Yes, I saw that whenever he woke up and turned on his side in his bed, he would remember Allah and say the Takbeer.*
Then he would rise up for the dawn (Fajr) prayer. I also noted that he would only utter good words.

*’When three nights had passed and I was almost sure he did nothing deserving of special praise, I said to him, “O slave of Allah, I have no quarrel with my father but I heard the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam say: ‘Now there will come before you a man of Paradise’, and each time it was you who came up before us. So I thought I should stay with you to see what act of yours I should emulate and gain reward. What is that act which made the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam mention you in this manner?”’*

The Ansaari replied, “I do no more than what you have seen.”

’Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr Ibn Al’As Radiyallahu Anhu said that when he had risen up and left him, the Ansaari called him back and said, “I do just what you’ve seen. I do no more. *But I do not hold anything against any Muslim and I do not envy anyone good Allah has given him.”*

*”Then ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr Ibn Al’As Radiyallahu Anhu remarked: ‘That’s what has elevated you (to that position) and that’s what we are incapable of.’”*
_____

*Look at the determination of ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr Ibn Al’As on knowing what made the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam regard the Ansaari man as a man of Paradise. He wanted to know as he wanted to emulate it and gain reward from it.*

*Look at the hospitality and kindness of this Ansaari man, letting this man to stay with him for three nights, if this happened these days, no one would be that willing to keep a man in his home without thinking twice and setting up a blade on his hands (meaning staying alert thinking the man will do something wrong unto him).*

*The last line of ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr Ibn Al’As totally sums up the situation of most of us nowadays, “That’s what has elevated you (to that position – being a man of Paradise ) and that’s what we are incapable of.”*

*O slave of Allah, Look at how ‘Abdullah RA said “he did nothing deserving special praise” when he was saying about the Ansaari man who was praying constantly and doing dhikr, yet nowadays, we put so much pride in our hearts when we pray 5 times a day when during the Khair ul Qurun, it was not something that makes them special rather it just makes them Muslims.*

*EVER DESPAIRED IN YOUR DUA’S ?*
Ever thought that they are not answered or that Allah Azza Wa Jall doesn’t respond?
This is the story of ‘Asim Ibn Thabit Radiyallahu Anhu.
_____
During the Battle of Uhud, when the Muslims faced defeat, the Quraish celebrated with their revenge but this was not enough for the ladies of their tribes. Hind, the woman who slaughtered the body of Hamza Radiyallahu Anhu, together with other women started to go out on the battlefield and started to dance and desecrate the dead bodies of the Mujahideen.
Astagfirullah.
But then came out Salafah Bint Sa’ad, who was very different from the other women, she was anxious about her family, so she started to look for them, she search high and low until she found the body of her husband soaked in his own blood, and near him were her sons, Musaffa, Kalab and Jalas who was breathing his last.
On this Salafah asked who killed them, and Jalas said it was ‘Asim Ibn Thabit Radiyallahu Anhu. Hearing this Salafah started to scream and swore by the false gods ‘Uzza and Lat that her rage could not die down until she had taken revenge on ‘Asim and drank wine from his skull.
After this, she indeed proclaimed that she would give any amount for the person who can bring her the head of ‘Asim, and this spread like fire amongst the Quraish. So one by one they started to search for ‘Asim.
After the Battle of Uhud, The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam sent 6 of the Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum on a special mission with ‘Asim Ibn Thabit as its head.
They were a few distance from Makkah when a group of Banu Hatheel pursued them and ambushed them. The people tried to bribe the Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum and told them that they won’t be killed as long as they lay down their weapons.
‘Asim Radiyallahu Anhu with all his courage said “I will not lay down my weapons before the Mushrikeen!”
Then, he remembered the swearing of Salafah and he prayed:
*“O Allah! I protect and defend your faith and, have Mercy on me and protect my flesh and my bones; please do not allow them to fall into the hands of the enemy.”*
After this he attacked the enemy with two of his companions, they fought fiercely until they were martyred one by one. The three other surrendered and were killed, one committed suicide and the other 2 killed by the Banu Hatheel.
*Now, this is where the power of du’a comes.*
After few hours of the martyrdom of ‘Asim Radiyallahu Anhu, the Quraish learnt of the whereabout of his body which was lying in the area inhabited by the Banu Hatheel.
So, with the hungry bellies of the Quraish for money, they started to give a lot of money to their messengers so that they could succeed in getting the head of ‘Asim Radiyallahu Anhu.
When they succeeded, some men of the Banu Hatheel went to the place where the body of ‘Asim Radiyallahu Anhu was lying, when they were near it to cut off his head they found a whole lot of bees, wasps and hornets surrounding the body and head of Asim Radiyallahu Anhu.
*Whenever they attempted to cut it these bees and wasps would attack them so they couldn’t do anything but give up and wait for the nightfall.*
The sun had not yet set when suddenly dark dense of clouds appeared on the sky, the very air seemed to tremble with the thunder and heavy rains had fallen.
Soon the streets and roads took on the appearance of streams, low-lying areas were filled, and there was water everywhere. It rained heavily the whole night and the Banu Hatheel went back to their homes.
Next morning they came out to get the head of ‘Asim but as they went towards the field the body was nowhere to be found. The flood washed it away to some unknown place, they searched high and low but the body of ‘Asim Radiyallahu Anhu disappeared like dust in the wind.
Subhan’Allah.
*Look how Allah Azza Wa Jall responded to the du’a of His faithful servant, ‘Asim Radiyallahu Anhu.*
He sent down wasps and bees to cover his body as protection from these people who had the intention to use his limbs and whatever is left of him into devilish and sinful act of drinking wine.
He sent down heavy rain so that his body won’t be found and away from the Mushrikeen.

*Allah Azza Wa Jall will never allow the Mushrikeen to triumph over the Mu’mineen and this is how he protects His faithful servants.*

*Indeed, the story of Asim Ibn Thabit truly reminds us of the one of the famous ayat of the Qur’an where Allah Azza Wa Jall says:*
“CALL UPON ME AND I WILL RESPOND TO YOU.”
40:60
*So never despair of His Mercy and never underestimate the power of your du’a.*

*REMEMBER*
*Allah Azza Wa Jall knows what you are about to ask Him even if you haven’t uttered them, He is within You, Your heart itself, calls upon Allah Azza Wa Jall with every beat.*

*“Rubb. Rubb. Rubb.”*
*La Hawla wala Quwwata illa billah.”*

The First Muslim Police Force

*READING TIME..*
ARTICLE-11
*DURING THIS QUARANTINE TIME,*
*LETS STAY HOME AND BE SAFE AND DO SOME QUALITY READING TO INCREASE OUR KNOWLEDGE….*

*THE FIRST MUSLIM POLICE FORCE.*

Did you know that during the Khair ul Qurun there were aside from the Mujahideen and all a Muslim Police Force?

Ma sha Allah.

If you go and study about the history of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, you will see that the establishment of this police force came after ‘Umar Radiyallahu Anhu, on the reign of ‘Uthman Ibn Affan Radiyallahu Anhu.

Historians say that *’Uthman was the first caliph to ever establish a police force*, and this mission was handed over to the great Sahabi, Al Muhajir Ibn Qunfudh Ibn ‘Umair Al Qurashi Radiyallahu Anhu who was like the *modern day police chief of Madinah those days.*

‘Uthman also appointed ’Abd Al Rahman Al Asadi Radiyallahu Anhu as the police chief in Kufah and Naseer Ibn ‘Abd Al Rahman Radiyallahu Anhu for Syria.
_____

*The first highlight of these policemen were during the funeral of Al Abbas Ibn Al Muttalib Radiyallahu Anhu.*

When the bier of Al Abbas was brought to the place where biers were brought, the people started to crowd around and took him to Al Baqee.

‘Abd Al Rahman Ibn Yazid Radiyallahu Anhu says that when they offered the funeral prayer [salat ul janazah] for him in Al Baqee, he never saw so many people come out for anyone. He says that no one could get near to his bier, and Banu Hashim [Al Abbas’ family tribe] were pushing people away from him.

He also said that when they reached the grave, the people were crowding around and there he saw ‘Uthman leaving and in return sent the *POLICE* to push people away from Banu Hashim, it continued until Banu Hashim were able to come forward, for they were the ones who lowered him into the grave.“
______

Indeed, we learn so much from the lives of the Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum, everything that we have now can be traced back to the footsteps and traces that these great men left in this dunya.

*The policemen as we read in this story surely indicates that they are there to protect and maintain the safety of the Muslims, they were not there to take advantage of their authority or their missions upon the Muslims, they served the people as they were prescribed and ordained to do.*

If only people would learn about being keen on their responsibilities, there will be less of chaos in this world, let us strive to learn and be responsible on things that are ordained to us, making that what Allah Azza Wa Jall has ordained for us on top of our lists.
______

And we pray that we become among those people who take in our responsibilities with keen observance and perseverance and never take them for granted.

_____

I know the name Al-‘Ala Ibn Al Hadrami wouldn’t be as popular as the rest of the known Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum, but Ibn Al Hadrami was not only a great commander but a dedicated scholar and worshipper who paid complete trust and faith upon Allah Azza Wa Jall.

One of the clearest example of this characteristic of Ibn Hadrami was of the expedition to Bahrain, where he led the Muslim army. [and this happened during the reign of Abu Bakr As Sideeq as the Caliph]

On their way to the enemy’s territory, the army’s camels inexplicably went wild and raced off with the food, drinks, tents, supplies and weapons of the Muslim army.

*Imagine, the Muslim army has lost everything and was stranded in the middle of the desert with nothing more than the clothing they were using.*

Yes, they tried to retrieve the camels but not a single one of them were able to do so, and the situation seemed so hopeless and the some were becoming helpless.

The situation was so hard because they were far from any town or city and they were certain that they would die because there was not even a sip of water ,so one by one the soldiers become to make out their wills.

At this, Ibn Hadrami gathered them and told them: “O people, are you not Muslims? Are you not out here striving in the way of Allah? Are you not Allah’s helpers?

The said: “Yes.” and so Ibn Hadrami said: *“So rejoice, for Allah does not abandon those who are in your situation.”

Then the call for Fajr prayer was made, they prayed and after he had led his men in prayer, Ibn Hadrami raised his hands to supplicate and his men did the same.

They remained in that state [continuously makind du’a] until sunrise.

Suddenly, at the time where Ibn Harami was still, with all his heart, invoking Allah for help, Allah created a large stream of pure water right beside them. Subhan’Allah and they all drank and bathed in the water.

Later that morning all their camels returned from all directions, yes, everytime they turn their heads they see camels approaching and with all their supplies intact.

When they finally had held of their camels, they took them and made then drink from the stream that Allah had given Ibn Hadrami and his men. They all rejoiced and were thankful to Allah and then later on continued onward to complete their mission.

And if you are curious if they won the battle,
*THEY DID.*
Alhamdulillah.
_____

*You might be in same situation, not literally, but same context of situation, where everything may seem so hopeless, but look how things turned around in this story because of the fact that they didn’t lose the trust in Allah Azza Wa Jall and of course continuous du’a.*

*O MUSLIM*
*REMEMBER YOUR GREATEST WEAPON IS BUT YOUR DUA.*

*So make a sincere du’a,* indeed again, such stories remind us of the ayah where Allah Azza Wa Jall says

*”Call upon me; I will respond to you.”*
Qur’an 40:60
_____

*And we pray that we become sincere people who will always find time on calling upon Allah whenever we are placed in such situations at the very beginning and not make Him the last resort, and that also we find time to call upon Him everyday not to ask for anything but for simply thanking Him for everything.*

Umar & the Boy

This is the story of ‘Umar Radiyallahu Anhu and this little boy who had a donkey in place near Madinah.
_____

It was narrated by Al Hassan Al Basri Rahimahullah that one day, on a hot and scorching day, ‘Umar went out with his robe palced over his head, then he passed by a young boy who was riding a donkey, and said to the boy, “O young boy, carry me with you.”

The boy jumped off the donkey and said, “Ride, O Leader of the Believers.”

The boy said this, insisting that ‘Umar ride in front on the saddle, and that he ride behind him.

However, ‘Umar rejected the boy’s offer, saying, “No! Instead you ride, and I will sit behind you. You want me to sit on a smooth surface (on the saddle), while you sit on a rough surface.”

‘Umar climbed the donkey and sat behind the boy, and when they entered Madinah, the people stared at them, amazed that their leader was commuting in such an uncomfortable manner while an ordinary boy was seated comfortably on a saddle.“
_____

Allahu’akbar, look at the humility of ‘Umar and his sense of equality and kindness. Indeed, sometimes, that’s one of the best things we could give to other people who work so hard to earn a halal living, to serve them or make them taste the service they give to us.

*The smile, joy and happiness that we give to these people cannot be matched by what we could give them by paying for their services, this is a blissful joy that people actually care about them, that their services are actually seen and appreciated.*

Wallah, if we all were like of ‘Umar, without carrying our own chairs, we would be more sensitive with our actions and the way we deal with other people who serve us with the best they could.

And we pray that this short story reminded us of something we could work on ourselves in the future. Aameen

So lose not heart, nor despair

*DURING THIS QUARANTINE TIME,*
*LETS STAY HOME AND BE SAFE AND DO SOME QUALITY READING TO INCREASE OUR KNOWLEDGE….*

There may really be so many situations that may let us think that there is no more hope in life, but think about it, if we lose hope, what can we gain, what can that give us? -Nothing but depression, unknown fear and misguidance.
When we lose hope, that’s when one becomes lost.

When we read and reflect from the words of Allāh, we find nothing but hope in it and His Mercy hovering upon us.
When we read about the life of Muhammad ﷺ and His Companions, The Sahabāh(RA), we find nothing but motivation, gratefulness and guidance for us to become the likes of them.- and these people remained true to their faith and indeed Allāh has blessed them with great success both in the dunya and akhirah.
Don’t we want to be like them?

*When you think you’ve been given such burden and hardship, remember the struggles of our Nabi Muhammad ﷺ , who bled in Ta’if, who cried for nights, who suffered great mockery, who fought for the rights of His people, and spread Islām. Realize that what He had gone through can’t be compared to what you have now, for what you have now are so minute.*

*Sufferings bring forth nothing but humility, making you realize that without His Love, Mercy and Guidance nothing can help you, indeed true Help is from Allāh.*
So never abandon him.

Be not like those who finds Allāh in their hard times and abandons and neglects him at their success. Who had brought you success other than Allāh?

*Lose not hope in Allāh, for when you lose it, you lose your heart. So, cling on Him at all times.*

*He is your Wali,*
*He is your Protector.*

*WE ARE ALL TESTED AND BLESSED IN OUR OWN WAYS,*
However and no matter how successful we may be or how much failure may befall upon us, know that there are hidden wisdom and blessings behind them.
So embrace that and keep up the faith, truly, success is but a harder test than failure.
So keep your feet on the ground.

*Keep faith, for indeed Allāh has prepared a great reward for those who do righteous deeds and remain patient through the tests and hardships they are given.*

*And we pray that through these tests and blessings we find solace and contentment in our hearts, making our hearts yearn for His Love, Guidance and Mercy more than ever.*

*May our mind never forget to thank Him for every Beat of our Heart,*
*Our Tongue not to forget mentioning His Name for the Food we take,*
*Our Eyes to see nothing but His Mercy for the Wonderful things that we are able to Witness*
*Our Hands that are able to wipe our Tears and ask for DUA from Him.*

*May He Bestow upon us a Grateful and Forgiving Heart.*

The Expedition of Al- Anbar

*THE EXPEDITION CALLED AL-ANBAR.*
*With Every Hardship comes Ease.*

In 8 A.H., Muhammad ﷺ despatched towards the sea-shore an expedition of three hundred(300) men, under the command of Abu Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah(RA). Their mission was to watch the caravan of the Quraish pagans(tribe of Juhaynah at al-Khabat) near the Red Sea. He ﷺ gave them a bag full of dates for their rations.
[1] Jabir b. ‘Abdullah reported:
Allah’s Messenger (may peace he upon him) sent us (on an expedition). We were three hundred riders and our chief (leader) was ‘Ubaida b. al-Jarrah. We were on the look out for a caravan of the Quraish. *So we stayed on the coast for half a month, and were so much afflicted by extreme hunger that we (were obliged) to eat leaves. That is why it was called the Detachment of the Leaves.* The ocean cast out for us an animal which was called al-‘Anbar (whale). We ate of that for half of the month and rubbed its fat on our (bodies) until our bodies became stout. Abu ‘Ubaida caught hold of one of its ribs and fixed that up. He then cast a glance at the tallest man of the army and the highest of the camels. and then made him ride over that, and that-tnan passed beneath it (the rib), and many a man could sit in its eye-socket, and we extracted many pitchers of fat from the cavity of its eye. We had small bags containing dates with us (before finding the whale). ‘Ubaida gave every person amongst us a handful of dates (and when the provision ran short), he then gave each one of us one date. And when that (stock) was exhausted, we felt its loss.

[2] Allah’s Apostle sent an army towards the east coast and appointed Abu ‘Ubaida bin Al-Jarrah as their chief, and the army consisted of three-hundred men including myself. We marched on till we reached a place where our food was about to finish. Abu- ‘Ubaida ordered us to collect all the journey food and it was collected. My (our) journey food was dates. Abu ‘Ubaida kept on giving us our daily ration in small amounts from it, till it was exhausted. The share of everyone of us used to be one date only.“ I said, “How could one date benefit you?” Jabir replied, “We came to know its value when even that too finished.” Jabir added, “When we reached the sea-shore, we saw a huge fish which was like a small mountain. The army ate from it for eighteen days. Then Abu ‘Ubaida ordered that two of its ribs be fixed and they were fixed in the ground. Then he ordered that a she-camel be ridden and it passed under the two ribs (forming an arch) without touching them.”
When they reached the verge of starvation, Allāh had mercy on them for He *always brings ease after every hardship, provided it is endured patiently.*

A big fish known as Al-’Anbar was thrown out of the sea for them. The Sahabah(RA) reported that it was like a small mountain. The fish was so big that they all lived on it for eighteen days and rubbed its fat on their bodies till they returned to their original state of being strong and healthy.
Abu Ubaida(RA) ordered two of its ribs to be fixed on the ground; then he went to the tallest man of his companions, and got him to ride on his she-camel under this arch formed by the two ribs. Another narration said that eighteen Sahabah(RA) could stand in the eye socket alone!
They also filled their satchels with the remaining portion, which lasted them right up to Madinah. When the episode was narrated to Muhammad ﷺ, he said:
“The fish was a provision arranged for you by Allah, feed us if you have some of it.” He was given some of the fish and he ate it.

*This army came to be known as Jaish-ul-Khabt for they ate the Khabt, the leaves of the Salam, a thorny desert, by moistening it by water.*

*This expedition is famous because Muslims were short of supply and food was running out, and they were fighting for survival, they suffered from famine, but in the end, the Muslims were given Mercy from Allah.*

*The trial of a person is proportionate to his position near Allāh, and He bestows solace and comfort by His Grace and Mercy after each trial.*

*Muhammad ﷺ said;*
*“The worst trials in this world are reserved for the Prophets, then for those who are next to them, and then for those who are best of the rest.”*

*Look how much the Sahābah have suffered in the path of Allāh. They had lived on leaves of trees, starved and shed blood in the service of the true faith, which we now fail to preserve.*
