Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 11 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (22 Dec. 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 11. The Creator of the heavens and the earth. Allah has made for you mates from yourselves, and for the cattle (also) mates. By this means He creates you (in the wombs). There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 11. (He is) the Creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs among cattle: by this means does He multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto Him, and He is the One that hears and sees (all things). The mystery of sex has not only its physical aspects, but its moral and spiritual aspects, and therefore mankind is in this respect differentiated from the lower animals, and among mankind the grades and qualities are suggested by the phrase “from among yourselves”. As regards cattle, they are specially mentioned among the animals, as having special relations with man and specially sub-serving his needs, not only in the physical sphere, but also in the matter of transport, which is the key to all civilization and culture.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “The world is but a (quick passing) enjoyment; and the best enjoyment of the world is a pious and virtuous woman”.

[Muslim Book # 08, Chapter 37, Hadith # 3465].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 011.” Allah has made for you mates from yourselves” This Hadith mentions the qualities of a virtuous partner in woman. When her husband looks at her, she pleases him; when he orders her, she obeys him; and when he is absent, she guards herself (chastity) and the property of her husband. (Abu Dawud and Nasa’i). This Hadith stresses the fact that if one wants success in this world and the Hereafter, he should select a pious wife. Rather than going after her beauty, lineage and wealth, one should give preference to her Faith over all other considerations. If he chooses a woman who is faithful to her Deen and strictly adheres to the Shari`ah, she would be a source of blessing for him in this life and the Hereafter.

Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 10 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (21 Dec. 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 10. And in whatsoever you differ, the decision thereof is with Allah (He is the ruling Judge). (And say to these polytheists) Such is Allah, my Lord in Whom I put my trust, and to Him I turn in all of my affairs and in repentance.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 10. Whatever it be wherein ye differ, the decision thereof is with Allah, such is Allah my Lord: In Him I trust, and to Him I turn. In the highest issues of life men may see things differently. If their differences arise merely from selfish motives, or narrowness of vision, they are sinning against their own souls. If their differences arise from sincere but mistaken notions, their proper course is not to form divisions and sects, or to increase contention and hatred among men, but to leave all things to Allah, trusting in Him and turning to Him in all difficulties. The final decision in all things is with Him.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) used to supplicate: “O Allah! To You I have submitted, and in You do I believe, and in You I put my trust, to You do I turn, and for You I argued. O Allah, I seek refuge with You through Your Power; there is none worthy of worship except You Alone; that You safeguard me against going astray. You are the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists; the One Who never dies, whereas human beings and jinn will all die”.

[Muslim Book 35, Chapter 17, Hadith # 6561].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 010. “Allah, my Lord in Whom I put my trust” This Hadith mentions the importance of Dua and faith in Allah, inducement for having trust in Him and the distinction of people who have these qualities.  .

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 20

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 20_*

*_On all – both the latter and the former – We bestow of the bounty of your Lord. Verily the bounty of your Lord is not denied [to anyone].(20)_*

The Ayah describes that both groups that is, the obedient and the disobedient, the good and the evil, the believer and the unbeliever. receive Allah Azzawajal’s bounty which is open to all and restricted to none.‼️ *This bounty is common, exactly according to that wisdom according to which this world was created.* This is Allah Azzawajal’s compassion to all of HIS creation by making all the blessings available to them so that every body can exhibit his positive and negative attributes by utilising them in a way either pleasing or displeasing to Allah Azzawajal.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that we have to prepare ourselves to answer in the Hereafter for all the bounties received from Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la.‼️ The amount of wealth a person has in this world is not to be connected to oneself being close to Allah Azzawajal or being liked by HIM. It has been stated in the Hadith that
_“When you see that Allah Taʿala gives a person (material) things of the worldly life which he desires whilst he remains persistent in sinning, then [know] that it is only *istidrāj* from Allah Taʿala.” (Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4 p.145)_

This Hadith shows us that such people (as described above) are only gradually being led astray and lured into destruction. Every new bounty they are blessed with is not a result of the good life they are living, but rather it is a trap. With the coming of each blessing they begin to feel more and more entitled and even start boasting about it. This then becomes a means of them being blinded from the reality of the Hereafter, and thus they slowly begin to completely indulge in transgression.

This Ayah reminds us:

1. To recognise and appreciate Allah Azzawajal’s bounty.
2. To understand the universality of Allah Azzawajal’s mercy.
3. To strive to be grateful for Allah Azzawajal’s generosity.
4. To acknowledge the limitless nature of Allah Azzawajal’s bounty.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to remain grateful for all of HIS blessings through our Obedience. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 19

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 19_*

*_”And whoever desires the Hereafter and exerts the effort for it while he is a believer (in the Oneness of Allâh – Islâmic Montheism), then it is those whose effort is appreciated (by Allah).(19)_*

In this Ayah it has been made explicit that every deed and every effort is not necessarily beneficial or acceptable with Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la.‼️ *Instead, the only deed or effort credible is that which is appropriate to the essential objective of the Hereafter.* And whether or not it is appropriate can only be found out from the statement and directions of Allah Ta’ala and His Messenger SWS. Therefore, even well meaning efforts made by insisting on *bland personal opinion and self invented ways which includes common customs of Bid’ah (innovations in established religion) no matter how good and beneficial they may appear at their face, but are not appropriate to the effort made for the Hereafter.* Consequently, *they are neither acceptable with Allah Azzawajal nor are they of any use in the Hereafter.* The word *’effort’* should be in *accordance with ‘sunnah. Along with it, it adds that this effort or deed should also have uprightness and firmness*. In other words, this deed should be beneficial in accordance with the Sunnah as well as it should be *upright and constant.* Doing it *haphazardly or doing it in a cycle of doing and not doing is not good.* It never yields the maximum benefit.

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To note that A mere wish for moral and spiritual good is not good enough. *It must be backed up by hard endeavour and supported by a lively Imaan.*‼️ Only on “those conditions the wishes are accepted by Allah Azzawajal”._

–To understand that Imaan is not a matter that people *attain through idle wishes, but it is rather an idea that is firmly held as a belief, and clearly endorsed by action.* Pursuit of the hereafter does not *deprive anyone* of the wholesome pleasures of this life. *It simply opens up wider horizons before us.* _Thus, enjoyment and pleasure are not the driving goal. There is no harm in seeking pleasure, provided however that one is not captivated or enslaved by it._ *A life that seeks nothing more than the pleasures of this world is fitting only for worms, reptiles, insects, cattle and wild beasts*. _It is only the life that pursues the rewards of the hereafter that is *fitting for man who has been the recipient of honour bestowed on him by Allah*. It is Allah Azzawajal who has created man and fashioned him, planting in his soul a secret that motivates him to *look up to higher horizons* even when his *feet are solidly planted on earth*._

_Let’s pray that our Imaan is accepted and we fulfil the criteria for acceptance of our striving for the things of *”Hereafter”,* by having *Strong Imaan,* and may we all be guided to a sense of personal responsibility._ Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen.

Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 09 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (20 Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 9. Or have they taken (for worship) Auliya’ (guardians, supporters, helpers, protectors, etc.) besides Him? But Allah, He Alone is the Wali (Protector, etc.). And it is He Who gives life to the dead, and He is Able to do all things.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 9. What! Have they taken (for worship) protectors besides Him? But it is Allah,- He is the Protector, and it is He Who gives life to the dead: It is He Who has power over all Who has power over all things, There can be no greater ingratitude or blasphemy than to worship false gods, or to seek protection from things that have no power, when Allah—Who has power over all things—is always seeking to protect and cherish His creatures, and placing in their way all the means for attaining the best in them.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,  “Between the two Blowing of the Trumpet there will be an interval of forty.” The people said, “O Abu Hurairah! Do you mean forty days?” He said, “I cannot say anything.” They said, “Do you mean forty years?” He said, “I cannot say anything.” They said, “Do you mean forty months?” He said, “I cannot say anything. The Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) added: Everything of the human body will perish except the last coccyx bone (end part of the spinal cord), and from that bone Allah will reconstruct the whole body. Then Allah will send down water from the sky and people will grow like green vegetables’.”

[Al-Bukhari Volume 6, Book 60, Number 457].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 009. And it is He Who gives life to the dead, and He is Able to do all things. 1. When Israfil blows the Trumpet the first time, by Allah’s Leave, all those who are in the heavens and on earth will swoon away, except him whom Allah will. This will be the first Blowing. Then, it will be blown a second time, they will become alive and will emerge from their graves. These Blowing are known as the `Blowing of Fainting and Rising’. As regard the interval between these two Blowing, the narrator of the narration, Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him), could not say anything when he was asked about it; as he himself did not know it. But in other narrations the interval has been mentioned as forty years. 2. The earth eats away the whole body of humans except the bodies of the Prophets. However, only the end part of the spinal cord remains intact. How it remains intact is known to Allah, but from it mankind will be created again. 3. Bodies will rise from the earth as vegetation springs out from the earth after the rainfall.

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 18

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 18_*

*_Whoever seeks [the pleasures of] this fleeting life, We hasten therein whatever We will for whomever We please. Then We decree for him hell, which he will enter, disgraced and rejected.(18)_*

The Ayah emphasises the fleeting nature of worldly life and warns against seeking only worldly pleasures.‼️ The word *Ajilah عَاجِلَةَ* means that which hastens or that which gives benefits quickly. *A person who makes the world as his goal and thinks that he will get everything quickly has been made clear here that it is not necessary he should always get many worldly benefits quickly and immediately, but this also depends on the will of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la. HE SWT decides how much and when to give it to anyone.* _once such a person is given worldly gains then there is no share for such a man in the benefits of the Hereafter, on the contrary he will have to face very bad conditions, and deprived of Allah Azzawajal’s mercy will have to enter the Hell._ This severe punishment will be given to him, because he was sent to the world to reap the benefits of the Hereafter and keep that in view and to act in the world in such a way that the result of his acts should give good rewards in the Hereafter, but he did not care for the Hereafter and engaged himself for his whole life in gathering the benefits of the world. In this way he lived as *transgressor* against his Lord and so his whole life was a great mistake.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that those who do not aspire to anything beyond this world are short sighted and greedy .‼️ Such people do not believe in the existence of a day of resurrection and a day of judgment, so they believe that there is no life after death. _Therefore, life in this world and its luxuries are described by Allah Azzawajal as something that can be immediately obtained and felt, but which will soon be lost and end and whatever remains in the Hereafter is long lasting and permanent._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to strive for Hereafter and earn Jannah. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 08 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (19 Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 8. And if Allah had willed, He could have made them one nation, but He admits whom He wills to His Mercy. And the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.) will have neither a Wali (protector) nor a helper.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 8. If Allah had so willed, He could have made them a single people; but He admits whom He will to His Mercy; and the Wrong-doers will have no protector nor helper. Cf. 5:48. It is one of the Signs of Allah that He has made us different, that we may be tried in the exercise of our will, and that we may reach, through righteousness and Faith, our highest development, and enjoy His gifts of Mercy and Grace. But we must not become contentious, and fall into evil: we must understand our own limitations. Otherwise, we shall lose His grace and protection.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH), “The deceased is tortured in his grave for bewailing over him.”

[Al-Bukhari Book 02, Chapter 23, Hadith # 379]

Lesson: “Bewailing” is wailing over the dead. It is weeping loudly for the deceased describing his noble qualities or the problems created by his death. Wailing causes trouble to the deceased if he willed his heirs to do so, or in his own life he behaved in the same manner and his family members were following his style of mourning at his death. But if the deceased had forbidden his relatives from wailing over his death and they do it despite his warning against doing so, then the deceased will not suffer any torment on their wailing because his intention and training have no connection with it. The Quranic injunction in this matter is absolutely clear: “No one laden with burdens can bear another’s burden.” (17:15).

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 17

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 17_*

*_How many nations We have destroyed since the time of Nooh! Your Lord is sufficiently aware of the sins of His slaves and sees them all.(17)_*

This Ayah highlights the responsibility of every community, as it makes clear that this law has remained operative since Prophet Nuh’s(AS) time.‼️ This Ayah is a confirmation of the previous one, that every community who remain rebellious after the arrival of the messenger who warns them, will certainly experience the same fate as the previous nations.

At the end of this Ayah, Allah SWT mentions that such a recompense is a wise and just recompense, because Allah Azzawajal has warned them and knows their actions. Allah Azzawajal is aware of the sins of HIS creations.

*_Act of the Day is_* to understand and reflect upon the past history.‼️ _The previous rebellious nations were destroyed because they went astray and disbelieved. This is the sunnatullah that has been repeated over the ages. We have read a lot in the surahs of the Quran about them such as the people of Aad, Thamud, Lut and so on._

— _To focus upon the words *بَصيرًا Baseera means to see*. Allah ﷻ does not just see but HE SWT knows deeply, which is *خَبيرًا khabeera.* This Ayah reminds us that Allah ﷻ always sees all the sins we are doing every now and then and is well aware of our acts. So we should feel ashamed of our disobedience and be mindful of the presence of Allah ﷻ everytime and everywhere around us._

The Ayah reminds us
1. To recognize Allah Azzawajal’s power and authority.
2. To avoid sin and disobedience.
3. To appreciate Allah Azzawajal’s knowledge and awareness.
4. To learn from the examples of past nations.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and grant us the ability to earn HIS pleasure through our Obedience and save us from falling into sins and going astray. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 07 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (18 Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 7. And thus, Allah have inspired unto you (O Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) a Qur’an (in Arabic) that you may warn the Mother of the Towns (Makkah) and all around it. And warn of the Day of Assembling, of which there is no doubt, when a party will be in Paradise (those who believed in Allah and followed what Allah’s Messenger ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) brought them) and a party in the blazing Fire (Hell) (those who disbelieved in Allah and followed not what Allah’s Messenger ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) brought them)

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat to 7. Thus have Allah sent by inspiration to thee an Arabic Qur´an: that Prophet ﷺ SAWW PBUH may warn the Mother of Cities and all around her, – and warn (them) of the Day of Assembly, of which there is no doubt: (when) some will be in the Garden, and some in the Blazing Fire. The point of the Qur’an being in Arabic is that it is plain and intelligible to the people through whom and among whom it was promulgated; see next clause. The City of Makkah . See 6:92. This is undoubtedly a Makkan verse. Even apart from the Qiblah, Makkah is the center of Islam, and “all around her” is the whole world. The contrast is again emphasized, as explained in the Summary.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,  ,”Allah created all the creatures and when He finished the task of His creation, Ar-Rahm (ties of relationship) said: `(O Allah) at this place I seek refuge with You against severing my ties.’ Allah said: `That I treat with kindness those who treat you with kindness and sever ties with those who sever ties with you.’ It said: `I am satisfied.’ Allah said: `Then this is yours”. Then Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Recite this Ayah if you like: `Would you then, if you were given the authority, do mischief in the land, and sever your ties of kinship? Such are they whom Allah has cursed, so that He has made them deaf and blinded their sight”. (47:22,23).

[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 73, Hadith # 16].

The words in Al-Bukhari are: Messenger of Allah ﷺ (PBUH) said, “Allah (SWT) says: `He who maintains good ties with you, I maintain good ties with him; and he who severs your ties, I sever ties with him”.

[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 73, Hadith # 17]

Lesson : This Hadith also stresses the importance of proper treatment with relatives for the reason that this is a special means of attaining the nearness and Mercy of Allah. A conduct contrary to it, that is to say, devouring the rights of relatives and continuation of estrangement with them, is the cause of displeasure and Wrath of Allah.
