Surah Al Isra – Ayah 16

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 16_*

*_When it is Our will to destroy a city, We command its affluent people [to fear Allah], but they transgress. Thus the punishment becomes inevitable, then We destroy it completely.(16)_*

The Ayah describes a universal law that Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has set in operation with regards to destruction of a community.‼️ _Allah Azzawajal has given man reason and choice and has determined the ways of reward and punishment. Allah Azzawajal has willed that human life should run according to set laws which never fail or change. A cause has its effect, and the effect takes place as a result of the operation of HIS will that has set this law in operation._ *Allah Azzawajal does not approve of indecency or transgression.* Allah Azzawajal’s Mercy gives every chance to the wicked to repent. When wickedness gets so rampant that punishment becomes inevitable, even then Allah Azzawajal’s Mercy and Justice act together. *Those who are highly gifted from HIM, it may be with wealth or position, or it may be with talents and opportunities are expected to understand and obey.* _They are given a definite order and warning. If they still transgress there is no further room for argument. They cannot plead that they are ignorant. The command of the Lord is proved against them, and its application is called for beyond doubt. Then it is that their punishment is completed.”_

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the *affluent group of people* are specifically mentioned because it is these people, more than any other class, that need to be grateful to their Lord for HIS blessings.‼️ _In any case, after the initial warning, HE SWT allows them several reprieves. But, when they persist in sins, the word of punishment comes true and they are destroyed._

—To understand that Allah doesn’t intends to destroy it without any reason.❗ *It is destroyed because after their disobedience that habitation incurs HIS just wrath and HE SWT totally exterminates it.* _The habitation deserves such a punishment because its *common people follow the affluent people* who are the factual leaders of a community and are mainly responsible for the corruption of the community. At first the affluent people commit acts of disobedience, wickedness, mischief, cruelty and tyranny and then the common people follow them and incur the torment of Allah Azzawajal._ *Incidentally, this is a warning for every community* that it should be very discreet and prudent in *choosing and electing its leaders and rulers*, for if the latter are mean and wicked, they will inevitably lead the community to destruction.

–In essence, this Ayah reminds us that our actions have consequences, and that Allah Azzawajal’s justice will ultimately prevail.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to understand our responsibility and make us grateful for HIS blessings through our Obedience and earn HIS pleasure. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 06. Daily Qur’an & Hadith (17 Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 6. And as for those who take as Auliya’ (guardians, supporters, helpers, protectors, etc.) others besides Him [i.e. they take false deities other than Allah (as) protectors, and they worship them] Allah is Hafiz (Protector) over them (i.e. takes care of their deeds and will recompense them), and you (O Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) are not a Wakil (guardian or a disposer of their affairs) over them (to protect their deeds, etc.).

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat to 6. And those who take as protectors others besides Him, Allah doth watch over them; and thou art not the disposer of their affairs. We now come to the contrast, the folly and ingratitude of man. But that cannot escape its final doom in the Universal Plan of Allah. Only Judgment rests with Allah. A Prophet is not responsible for the conduct of men, in a system which permits some limited free will and personal responsibility.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported A person came to : The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) and asked, “Who among people is most deserving of my fine treatment?” He ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Your mother”. He again asked, “Who next?” “Your mother”, the Prophet   [SAWW](PBUH) replied again. He asked, “Who next?” He (the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH)) said again, “Your mother.” He again asked, “Then who?” Thereupon he ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,” Then your father.”

In another narration: “O Messenger of Allah! Who is most deserving of my fine treatment?” He   [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father, then your nearest, then nearest”.

[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 73, Hadith # 02]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al- Ankabut Ayat 08. “Allah have enjoined on man to be good and dutiful to his parents” This Hadith tells us that the rights of the mother are three times more important than that of the father for the reasons that:

1 She is weaker than her father.

2. The following three troubles are borne exclusively by the mother while the father does not share them with her:

a) She carries the baby in her womb for nine months,

b) The labor pain which she suffers.

c) Two years’ period of suckling which disturbs her sleep at night and affects her health, She has also to be very cautious in her food for the welfare of the baby.

Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 05 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (16 Dec 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 5. Nearly the heavens might rent asunder from above them (by His Majesty), and the angels glorify the praises of their Lord, and ask for forgiveness for those on the earth, verily, Allah is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 5. The heavens are almost rent asunder from above them (by Him Glory): and the angels celebrate the Praises of their Lord, and pray for forgiveness for (all) beings on earth: Behold! Verily Allah is He, the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. How can we conceive of sublimity and greatness in a higher degree than this, that the highest heavens are almost ready to burst asunder by His Glory, which is higher than all? The angels are the noblest and purest beings of whom we can conceive. They reflect on the one side Allah’s Glory and Praise, and on the other, two other attributes of Allah, that look towards His erring creatures, viz.: Forgiveness and Mercy. The two sets of attributes are complementary. They thus proclaim in their own being and in their prayers the Greatness and unbounded Goodness of Allah.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Umamah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “The superiority of the learned over the devout worshipper is like my superiority over the most inferior amongst you (in good deeds).” He went on to say, “Allah, His angels, the dwellers of the heaven and the earth, and even the ant in its hole and the fish (in water) supplicate in favor of those who teach people knowledge.”

[At-Tirmidhi, Hadith # 2685]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 05. “The angels glorify the praises of their Lord, and ask for forgiveness for those on the earth” Alim (learned person) here means scholar of the Qur’an and Hadith, who adheres to Faraid and Sunnah and remains busy in learning and imparting knowledge. `Abid (devout worshipper) is one who spends most of his time in the worship of Allah. The benefit of his voluntary prayer and remembrance of Allah is restricted to his own self while the benefit of knowledge of the scholar reaches others also. Hence, of the two, the latter is far superior. If Salat is mentioned with reference to Allah, it denotes “Allah’s Grace with Mercy;” if it is mentioned with reference to the angels, it denotes “to pray for forgiveness;” and if it is mentioned with reference to other creatures – men, animals, etc., – then it means prayer and supplication. Thus, Allah graces that person with His Mercy who teaches people the beneficial knowledge, i.e., the knowledge of Islam; angels pray to Allah to forgive his (or her) sins; and other creatures pray for his (or her) well-being. In this way, this Hadith stresses the distinction of religious scholars and highlights the esteem in which they are held by Allah, His angels and His other creatures.

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 15

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah Al-Isra Ayah 15_*

*_”Whoever is guided, is only guided for the (benefit of) his soul. And whoever goes astray, only goes astray against it (soul). And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And We will not punish until We have sent a Messenger”.(15)_*

_The doctrine of personal responsibility is insisted on, and the basis of ethics is shown to be our own good or evil as furthering or obstructing our highest development._

_*The Qur’an has laid great stress on the doctrine of personal responsibility at several places,* for one cannot follow the Right Way scrupulously without understanding fully its implication. *It means that, everyone is solely responsible for one’s moral conduct and is accountable to Allah Azzawajal as an individual in one’s own person, and no other person can share the burden of responsibility with him.*_ (refer S6:A164 too)

_*This doctrine has been emphasized over and over again so that a wise man should not act in imitation of another.* If a particular person feels the sense of his own responsibility, he shall act in such a way as to come out successful on the Day of Judgment, regardless of what the others do. Yet as a sign of Allah’s grace, *HE SWT does not leave man’s guidance dependent only on the signs that are available in the universe. Nor does HE SWT leave him to the covenant HE SWT has made with human nature before a person is born❗*. HE SWT has sent messengers to warn and remind and HE SWT will never visit HIS wrath on anyone until due warning is conveyed to humans through an accredited Messenger._

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To Continuously monitor our Thoughts Words & Deeds. *Also monitor that which we forward on WhatsApp, as it could become a witness against us on the Day of Judgement for spreading fitnah.*_ _Let’s remind ourselves that, we are responsible for our own actions and we can’t even blame Shaitaan for it._

_*Allah SWT has sent His most lovable Messenger ‘Mohammed’ (Sallellahu Alaihi Wasallam), as Mercy to the Whole mankind.*_
_”So we shall educate ourselves in the light of Qur’an and Hadees, *’Help each other, Love each other and Live together’ – without pointing fingers at others, with Patience and show the right path to each other.”*_

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect and take measures so as to gain HIS Mercy on the Day of judgement. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Isra – Ayah 13 & 14

*_Today’s Thought for the day comes from Surah Al-Isra Ayat 13 & 14_*

*_”And for every person We have fastened his fate to his neck; and We will produce for him on the Day of Resurrection a record which he will find wide open.”(13)_*

*_”(It will be said to him), Read your book.” Sufficient is yourself against you today as accountant.”(14)_*

_”We have fastened the augury (a sign of what will happen in the future), of every man to his own neck”; therefore one does not need to take omens from a bird; (This is to remove the superstition of the disbelievers who used to take omens from birds etc.), as if to say, “The causes and consequences of good fortune or bad fate exist in man’s own person. He merits good fortune because of his own good conduct and good judgment, and likewise, suffers the consequences of evil fate by the lack of these”._

_On the *’Day of Judgement’,* Our real fate depends upon our deeds, good or evil, and they will hang around our necks, so that we can clearly see them without any doubt._ Thus we have here a *metaphor* referring to what flies of a *person’s actions and becomes tied around his neck, so that it never parts from him*. Thus does the Qur’ān in *graphically* describing things in order to emphasize its point. *A person’s actions do not leave him, and he cannot disown them*. The same applies to the wide open record of all his actions. Thus whatever he has done in life is laid bare, a person cannot hide, ignore or disown it

*Act for the Day is:* _To be aware of the fact that, “Our true accusers are our own deeds.” Let’s look to our own deeds instead of vainly prying into other’s._‼️
_*These deeds, good or evil, will be embodied in a scroll which will be quite open to us in the light of the Day of Judgement, however much we may affect to be ignorant of it now or waste our energies in prying into mysteries that do not concern us.*_

It has been reported from Qatadah that *it will be a day when even an illiterate person will be able to read his book of deeds*. On this occasion, al-Isbahani has reported on the authority of Abu Umamah RA that the Noble Prophet SWS said: On the day of Qiyamah, when the book of deeds belonging to people will be given in their hand, someone will notice that *some of his good deeds were not recorded there. He will tell his Lord about the particular deeds missing from there*. HIS Lord will tell him that HE SWT had *erased* those deeds for *he used to speak ill of people on their backs*.

_Let’s often remind us about this fact; *(CMCG),* that we are *Continuously* being *Monitored* for our *Continuous Growth* and hence, keep track of our thoughts, words, and actions, and make sure that; they are *pleasing to Allah SWT*._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to always do the good and make it easy for us on the Day of judgement. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
