Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 03 & 04 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (03 Nov, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 3. A Book whereof the Verses are explained in detail; A Quran in Arabic for people who know.

Ayat 4. Giving glad tidings [of Paradise to the one who believes in the Oneness of Allah (i.e. Islamic Monotheism) and fears Allah much (abstains from all kinds of sins and evil deeds) and loves Allah much (performing all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)], and warning (of punishment in the Hell Fire to the one who disbelieves in the Oneness of Allah), but most of them turn away, so they listen not.

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 3 and 4. A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur´an in Arabic, for people who understand; Ayat 4. Giving good news and admonition: yet most of them turn away, and so they hear not. With all the qualities mentioned in the last note, if men do not profit by its blessings, the fault lies in their will: they turn away, and thus fail to hear the voice that calls to them..

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,  “Verily, Allah likes three things for you and disapproves three things for you. He likes that you should worship Him Alone, not to associate anything with Him (in worship) and to hold fast to the Rope of Allah (The Quran) and not to be divided among yourselves; and He disapproves for you irrelevant talk, persistent questioning and the squandering of the wealth.”

[Muslim Book 018, Chapter 03, Hadith # 4255].”

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah 3. A Book whereof the Verses are explained in detail; A Quran in Arabic for people who know” Besides stressing Tauhid, holding fast to the Rope of Allah the Quran and unity (which are greatly liked by Allah), this Hadith forbids unnecessary debate, hair-splitting and extravagance as all the three are disliked by Allah. Wealth has a great importance in man’s life since it is the very source of sustenance and basis of his livelihood, its wastage is akin to cutting the branch of the tree on which one is sitting.

Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 01 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (02 Nov, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]

Ayat 1. Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur’an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.]

Ayat 2. A revelation from Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 1. Ha Mim: These are abbreviated letters, the Muqatta’at, the particular letters, Ha Mim, are found prefixed to this Surah, and Surah number 40. Much has been written about the meaning of these letters, but most of it is pure conjecture. Some commentators are content to recognize them as some mystic symbols of which it is unprofitable to discuss the meaning by more verbal logic. Ayat 2. A Revelation from (Allah), Most Gracious, Most Merciful; In the last Surah (40:2-3) the revelation was described with reference to some of the qualities of Allah from Whom it came. Here it is described mainly with reference to its subject matter. (1) It brings the Message of Grace and Mercy; (2) it is not merely a book of Dark Sayings, but everything is explained clearly and from various points of view; (3) it is in Arabic, the language of the people among whom it was first promulgated, and therefore easily intelligible to them if they take the trouble to understand; and (4) it opens the way to Forgiveness through Repentance and gives warning of all spiritual Dangers.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Allah is Forbearer and He loves forbearance, and rewards for forbearance while He does not reward severity, and does not give for anything besides it (forbearance).”

[Muslim Book 32, Chapter 21, Hadith # 6273]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah “Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful” Mildness is the opposite of harshness. Allah enjoins softness and dislikes stiffness in human relations. Allah assures us of reward for gentle behavior in society, not for unkindness or anything like that. However, inflexibility is preferred to flexibility when there arises a question of religious matters and the limits set by Allah.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 84 & 85 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (01 Nov, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 84. So, when they saw Our punishment, they said: “We believe in Allah Alone and reject (all) that we used to associate with Him as (His) partners.

Ayat 85. Then their Faith (in Islamic Monotheism) could not avail them when they saw Our punishment. (Like) this has been the way of Allah in dealing with His slaves. And there the disbelievers lost utterly (when Our Torment covered them).

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 84. But when they saw Our Punishment, they said: “We believe in Allah,- the one Allah – and we reject the partners we used to join with Him.” Ayat 85. But their professing the Faith when they (actually) saw Our Punishment was not going to profit them. (Such has been) Allah’s Way of dealing with His Servants (from the most ancient times). And even thus did the Rejecters of Allah perish (utterly)! Again, and again they were given chances, and again and again they rejected them. When it was too late, and in fact when it had no meaning, they offered to profess Faith. That was of no use. Allah does not accept unmeaning things of that kind. He wants to train and purify our will. For their disobedience and rebellion, they perished utterly.

*These are the last Ayats of the 40th Surah of Al-Quran Surah Mumin; this Surah contains 85 Ayats, Insha Allah from tomorrow the 41st Surah of Al-Quran Surah Fussilat will start..

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Everyone will be raised in the condition in which he dies”.

[Muslim Book 40, Chapter 19, Hadith # 6878]

Lesson : This Hadith signifies that if a person dies performing good deeds, he will have a good end; and the one who dies in misdeeds, he will come to a bad end. It is, therefore, necessary that one should always avoid disobedience of Divine injunctions, especially in old age and illness because one may fall in the clutches of death at any time.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 83 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (31 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 83. Then when their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, they were glad (and proud) with that which they had of the knowledge (of worldly things): And that at which they used to mock, surrounded them (i.e. the punishment).

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 83. For when their messengers came to them with Clear Signs, they exulted in such knowledge (and skill) as they had; but that very (Wrath) at which they were won’t to scoff hemmed them in. Arrogance and an exaggerated idea of Self were at the bottom of the Evil to which they succumbed Cf. 16:34 . Nothing could stop the Justice of Allah punishing Evil. What they had ridiculed came as an inexorable fact. None of their grandeur or art or science or skill was of any use when they lost their souls!.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Masruq (May Allah be pleased with him) said: We visited `Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) and he said to us: O people! He who has the knowledge of any matter may convey it to the others. And he who has no knowledge, thereof, should say: “Allahu a’lam (Allah knows better).” It is a part and parcel of knowledge that a man who has no knowledge of a matter should say: “Allah knows better.” Allah said to His Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH): “Say (O Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH)): `No wage do I ask of you for this (the Qur’an), nor am I one of the Mutakallifun (those who pretend and fabricate things which do not exist).”’ (38:86)

[Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 60, Hadith # 333].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 83. “They were glad (and proud) with that which they had of the knowledge (of worldly things)”  If one does not know about something, he should not say anything about it by way of conjecture, speculation and guesswork because this is also pretension which is forbidden. When religious scholars are asked about anything which they do not know, they should confess their ignorance. Such a confession is also a mark of scholarship. In other words, they should abstain from giving a verdict about any matter without doing a thorough study and research on it..

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 82 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (30 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 82. Have they not travelled through the earth and seen what was the end of those before them? They were more numerous than them and mightier in strength, and in the traces (they have left behind them) in the land, yet all that they used to earn availed them not.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 82. Do they not travel through the earth and see what was the End of those before them? They were more numerous than these and superior in strength and in the traces (they have left) in the land: Yet all that they accomplished was of no profit to them. Cf. 9:69. For any generation to take inordinate pride in its own single achievements in science or skill becomes ridiculous if we consider the broad stream of history- In the first place, men will find that a great deal of what they attribute to their own merits only became possible owing to the earlier work of their predecessors. Secondly, many of their predecessors were more numerous and mightier in power than they, although the perspective of time may have reduced the apparent depth of their influence, and the monuments which they have left behind may have suffered from the destroying hand of Time. Thirdly, and most important of all, when they forgot Allah and His inexorable Law, nothing of their own handiwork profited them: they perished in the common ruin as all vanities must perish. Cf. also 40:21. See how the recapitulation rounds off the argument.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ibn Umer (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: when Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH), and his Companions reached Al-Hijr, the dwellings of the Thamud people, he admonished his Companions (saying), “Do not pass by these people who are being tormented, without weeping, lest the punishment should befall you as it had befallen them.” [Al-Bukhari Book 04, Chapter 55, Hadith # 564].

Another narration is: Hazrat Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) passed near Al-Hijr, he said, “Do not enter without weeping, the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, lest the same chastisement should fall upon you as it had fallen upon them.” Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) then covered his head and sped up until he crossed the valley of the tormented people.

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 82. Have they not travelled through the earth and seen what was the end of those before them?” The Thamud were the people to whose guidance Allah sent Prophet Saleh AS. They lived between Al-Madinah and Syria. In 10 A.H. when the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) went to the Syrian border for the Tabuk expedition, he also passed through this ruined territory. This Hadith is related to the address which he gave to his Companions on the occasion. Here is an instruction that when we happen to pass through the territory of a nation destroyed in the past as a result of Divine wrath, we are advised to quicken one’s pace. That is why we have been commanded to avoid the company of the corrupt and the wrongdoers, lest we meet their bad end, too. As the Qur’an says: “And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you.” (11:113) May Allah save us from it!.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 79 to 81 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (29 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 79. Allah, it is He Who has made cattle for you, that you may ride on some of them and of some you eat.

Ayat 80. And you have (many other) benefits from them, and that you may reach by their means a desire that is in your breasts (i.e. carry your goods, loads, etc.), and on them and on ships you are carried.

Ayat 81.  And He shows you His Signs and Proofs (of His Oneness in all the above-mentioned things). Which, then of the Signs and Proofs of Allah do you deny?

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 79 to 81. It is Allah Who made cattle for you, that ye may use some for riding and some for food; Cf. 16:5-8. The fact that beasts, which in their wild state are so noxious, are, when domesticated, so useful to man, is itself one of the great and standing Signs of Allah’s care for man. The great usefulness of cattle is very instructive. They serve for riding, and many of them for food; further, they are used for the plough, and they produce milk, or wool or hair; and from their carcasses man derives bones and horns for many industrial uses; but passing on to the higher aspects of life, they further social, moral, and spiritual uses as draught-animals, in that transport serves one of the fundamental purposes of civilization, being in this respect like ships for international commerce: 30:46, and n. 3565. It is by means of human intercourse through transport that we can carry out the highest needs of our culture, “any need there may be in our hearts”, i.e., in our inner being. Ayat 80. And there are (other) advantages in them for you (besides); that ye may through them attain to any need (there may be) in your hearts; and on them and on ships ye are carried. Ayat 81. And He shows you (always) His Signs: then which of the Signs of Allah will ye deny? The Signs of Allah’s goodness and mercy are so numerous that it is impossible to enumerate them. Which of them can any mortal deny? This is the theme of that highly poetical Surah Al Rahman (S. 55).

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) mounted his camel for setting out on a journey, he would recite: “Allahu Akbar (Allah is Greatest),” thrice. Then he  [SAWW](PBUH) would supplicate: “Subhanal-ladhi sakh-khara lana hadha, wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin, wa inna ila Rabbina lamunqalibun. Allahumma inna nas’aluka fi safarina hadh al-birra wat-taqwa, wa minal-`amali ma tarda. Allahumma hawwin `alaina safarana hadha, watwi `anna ba’dahu. Allahumma Antas-Sahibu fissafari, wal-Khalifatu fil-ahli. Allahumma inni a`udhu bika min wa`ta’is-safari, wa kaabatil-manzari, wa su’il-munqalabi fil-mali wal-ahli wal-waladi (Far removed from imperfection is the One Who has made this subservient to us, for we have no power to subjugate it, and certainly to our Rubb shall we return. O Allah, we ask You during this journey of ours for righteousness, piety and such deeds as are pleasing to You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us, this journey of ours and make the distance short for us. O Allah, You are our Companion during the journey and the Guardian of the family and the property in our absence. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travelling, unhappiness connected with ghastly scenes and evil turns in property and family).” When he returned, he recited this supplication making addition of these words: “Ayibuna, ta’ibuna, `abiduna, li-Rabbina hamidun (We are those who return; those who repent; those who worship and those who praise our Rubb).”

[Muslim, Book # 07, Chapter 73, Hadith # 3113]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 79. Allah, it is He Who has made cattle for you that you may ride on some of them” This is a very comprehensive prayer. Man is not safe from dangers during a journey and in his absence; safety of his household may worry him, too. In this prayer, Allah is entreated to ensure the safety of the two in the most effective words. And none can harm that person who comes under the Watch and Protection of Allah. This prayer should be recited upon starting on a journey as well as returning from it.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 78 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (28 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 78. And, indeed Allah have sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad   [SAWW](PBUH); of some of them We have related to you their story and of some We have not related to you their story, and it was not given to any Messenger that he should bring a sign except by the Leave of Allah. So, when the Commandment of Allah, the matter will be decided with truth, and the followers of falsehood will then be lost.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 78. We did for a time send messengers before thee: of them there are some whose story We have related to thee, and some whose story We have not related to thee. It was not (possible) for any messenger to bring a sign except by the leave of Allah, but when the Command of Allah issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice, and there perished, there and then those who stood on Falsehoods. Cf. 4:164. Allah sent Messengers of His Truth to every person. There are some whose names are known to us through the Holy Quran, but there are a large number whose names are not made known to us through that medium. We must recognize the Truth wherever we find it. The Signs of Allah are everywhere, and can be seen by the discerning eye at all times. But if any extraordinary Signs are demanded by cynics or Unbelievers, they will not be granted merely because they are demanded. It is Allah’s Will that issues them, not merely the desire of human beings, even if he be a Messenger of Allah. But when an extraordinary Sign is issued by the Command of Allah, it means that the cup of the iniquitous is full; that their case is decided, and their time of respite is past; and that Justice takes the place of Mercy, and evil is blotted out.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,  “Do not ask me unnecessarily about the details of the things which I do not mention to you. Verily, the people before you were doomed because they were used to putting many questions to their Prophets and had differences about their Prophets. Refrain from what I forbid you and do what I command you to the best of your ability and capacity”.

[Al-Bukhari Chapter # 92 Hadith # 391].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 78. indeed Allah have sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad  ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH);” To be unnecessarily inquisitive and create differences and confusion in the Injunctions of Allah and His Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH) leads to destruction. The safest course lies only in following the Orders of Allah and His Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH) without `ifs’ and `buts.’ Hair Splitting in religious issues falls in this category. It opens the door for chaos and conflict and paves the way for disunity and separation. May Allah give sense to the Muslim Ummah to abandon this road and take the Right Path which ensures peace and security. Let it be absolutely clear that the Right Path is one and one alone. There cannot be multiple right paths, it is one and singular. Once a community leaves the Straight Path, it is sure to go astray..

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 77 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (27 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 77. So be patient (O Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH), verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and whether Allah show you (O Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) in this world) some part of what Allah have promised them, or Allah cause you to die, then it is to Us they all shall be returned.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 77. So, persevere in patience; for the Promise of Allah is true: and whether We show thee (in this life) some part of what We promise them, – or We take thy soul (to Our Mercy) (before that),-(in any case) it is to Us that they shall (all) return. Cf. 10:46. As the eventual justice and readjustment of values must take place, when every soul returns to the Judgment Seat of Allah, it makes no difference if good and evil meet their deserts in this very life or not. Cf. also 13:40.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,  “Do you know who is the bankrupt?” They said: “The bankrupt among us is one who has neither money with him nor any property”. He said, “The real bankrupt of my Ummah would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrection with Salat, Saum and Sadaqah (charity), (but he will find himself bankrupt on that day as he will have exhausted the good deeds) because he reviled others, brought calumny against others, unlawfully devoured the wealth of others, shed the blood of others and beat others; so his good deeds would be credited to the account of those (who suffered at his hand). If his good deeds fall short to clear the account, their sins would be entered in his account and he would be thrown in the (Hell) Fire”.

[Muslim Book 32, Chapter 13, Hadith # 6251]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 77. “Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and whether Allah show you (O Muhammad ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH) in this world) some part of what Allah have promised them”  This Hadith tells us that a Muslim has to take strict care in the performance of obligations like prescribed Salat (prayers), Zakat, etc., but he has to take similar care in his dealings, manners and morals. Salvation lies in the proper fulfillment of all these requirements. Fulfillment of one at the cost of the other will not be sufficient for salvation.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 75 & 76 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (26 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 75. That was because you had been exulting in the earth without any right (by worshipping others instead of Allah and by committing crimes), and that you used to rejoice extremely (in your error).

Ayat 76. Enter the gates of Hell to abide therein, and (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant!

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 75 and 76. “That was because ye were wont to rejoice on the earth in things other than the Truth, and that ye were wont to be insolent. Allah does not withdraw His grace from any unless (1) they actively and deliberately take a delight in things that are vain or false, and (2) they insolently reject the things that are true-in other words, unless men are deliberately false to their own lights, as illuminated by the Light of Allah. Ayat 76. “Enter ye the gates of Hell, to dwell therein: and evil is (this) abode of the arrogant!” Cf. 39:72.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,  “On the Day of Resurrection, there will be brought forth a bulky person whose value to Allah will be less than that of the wing of a mosquito”.

[Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 60, Hadith # 253].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat.76 “and (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant!”  This Hadith means that manifestation of power and splendor, which are considered so important for people in this world, will be of no value to Allah. In the Hereafter, Allah will judge a person by his Faith, devotion and piety. It is, therefore, essential that one should concentrate on the reformation of his own heart and mind.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 73 & 74 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (25 Oct 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 73. Then it will be said to them: “Where are (all) those whom you used to join in worship as partners.

Ayat 74.”Besides Allah” They will say: “They have vanished from us: Nay, we did not invoke (worship) anything before.” Thus Allah leads astray the disbelievers.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 73. Then shall it be said to them: “Where are the (deities) to which ye gave part- worship. Ayat 74. “In derogation of Allah.” They will reply: “They have left us in the lurch: Nay, we invoked not, of old, anything (that had real existence).” Thus does Allah leave the Unbelievers to stray. All falsehood will vanish: Cf. 7:37. The only Reality will be fully manifest even to those to whom Evil was made to seem alluring in the lower life. They will feel in their inmost souls that they had been pursuing mere shadows, things of no real existence. This was the result of their rejecting the Light and the Grace of Allah: they got entangled in the mazes of error.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Saeed Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “There will emerge from the East some people who will recite the Qur’an but it will not exceed their throats and who will go out of (renounce) the religion (Islam) as an arrow passes through the game, and they will never come back to it unless the arrow, comes back to the middle of the bow (by itself) (i.e., impossible). The people asked, “What will their signs be?” He ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Their sign will be the habit of shaving (of their beards).

[Al-Bukhari Chapter 093, Hadith # 651]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 74. “Thus, Allah leads astray the disbelievers”! Only such people will be elevated who act upon the teachings of the Qur’an and abstain from what is forbidden by Allah. The Muslims of the early centuries of Islam were blessed with great honor by Allah because they loved and applied the Qur’an. Because of this meaningful attachment with the Qur’an, they made great achievements in religious and worldly spheres. Those who neglected the teachings of Islam will be disgraced and humiliated. May Allah guide and enable us to re-establish our contact with the Qur’an so that we can regain our past glory. Exaltation and humiliation mentioned in the Hadith is bound to happen in both this life and the Hereafter.
