Surah Al Mumin Ayat 44 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (06 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 44. (A believing man of Firaun’s (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith further said) “And you will remember what I am telling you, and my affair I leave it to Allah. Verily, Allah is the All-Seer of (His) obedient servants.”

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 44. “Soon will ye remember what I say to you (now) My (own) affair I commit to Allah. For Allah (ever) watches over His Servants.” The wording suggests as if there was a plot to kill him, but he was saved, as the next verse shows. His thought to the last is with his People. ‘No matter what you do to me: you will have cause to remember my admonition, when perhaps it is too late for you to repent. For my part I commit myself to the care of Allah, and my Faith tells me that all will be right.’.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak one, and both are good. Adhere to that which is beneficial for you. Keep asking Allah for help and do not refrain from it. If you are afflicted in any way, do not say: `If I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted into such and such,’ but say only: `Allah so determined and did as He willed.’ The word `if’ opens the gates of satanic thoughts”.

[Muslim Chapter 08, Book 33, Hadith # 6441].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 44. “You will remember what I am telling you, and my affair I leave it to Allah” 1. In this Hadith, goodness is acknowledged in weak as well as strong because the real Faith is a common feature of both. The one who is stronger is, however, better with Allah for the reason that he is more active and energetic in the matter of noble deeds and performance of ritual prayers, obligatory as well as voluntary.

2. This Hadith ordains that in case of trouble, one should exercise patience and show submission and obedience rather than saying `ifs’ and `buts’ about it, because it provides Satan with a chance to mislead the sufferer..

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 43 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (05 Oct 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 43. (A believing man of Firaun’s (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith further said) “No doubt you call me to (worship) one who cannot grant (me) my request (or respond to my invocation) in this world or in the Hereafter. And our return will be to Allah, and Al-Musrifun (i.e. polytheists and arrogant, those who commit great sins, the transgressors of Allah’s set limits)! They shall be the dwellers of the Fire!

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 43. “Without doubt ye do call me to one who is not fit to be called to, whether in this world, or in the Hereafter; our return will be to Allah, and the Transgressors will be Companions of the Fire! Faith is not content with its own inner vision and conviction. It can give ample arguments. Three are mentioned here: (1) nothing but Allah is worthy of worship, either in this world of sense or in the spiritual world; (2) our Return will be to Allah, the Eternal Reality; and (3) the worship of Falsehood must necessarily lead to the Penalty of Falsehood, unless Allah’s Mercy intervenes and forgives on our sincere repentance.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Barzah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Man’s feet will not move on the Day of Resurrection before he is asked about his life, how did he consume it, his knowledge, what did he do with it, his wealth, how did he earned it, and how did he dispose of it, and about his body, how did he wear it out.”

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2417].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 43. “Those who commit great sins, the transgressors of Allah’s set limits)! They shall be the dwellers of the Fire!”

1. This Hadith first of all highlights the importance and value of this transitory life, every breath of which is invaluable. Not a moment of it should, therefore, be wasted in the disobedience of Allah because one shall also be made to account for it.

2. Man shall also be answerable for his knowledge. Here, we find an inducement for acquiring religious knowledge because that alone is beneficial for him. He should make use of his knowledge for winning the pleasure of Allah. If he does not do that then he must think about the justification for not doing so. He must also think how he would be facing Allah on the Day of Resurrection.

3. The question in respect of wealth raised in this Hadith clearly shows that one should earn wealth by legitimate means only and spend it strictly in a lawful manner. If he takes unfair means of income or squanders it, he will be sinful and required to account for the violation of the Divine injunctions.

4. One should protect his body from everything that is unlawful and force himself to submit to the Divine injunctions. When he is asked to account for neglecting them, it will be difficult for him to escape the consequences of accountability.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 41 & 42 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (04 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 41. “And O my people! How is it that I call you to salvation while you call me to the Fire!

Ayat 42. “You invite me to disbelieve in Allah (and in His Oneness), and to join partners in worship with Him; of which I have no knowledge, and I invite you to the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving!

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 41 and 42. “And O my people! How (strange) it is for me to call you to Salvation while ye call me to the Fire! It may seem strange according to the laws of this world that he should be seeking their Good while they are seeking his damnation! But that is the merit of Faith. Its mission is to rescue its enemies and Allah’s enemies, as far as their will consent! Ayat 42. “Ye do call upon me to blaspheme against Allah, and to join with Him partners of whom I have no knowledge; and I call you to the Exalted in Power, Who forgives again and again!” The worship of Pharaoh was but typical of Egyptian blasphemy, but it had many sides, including the worship of heroes, animals, powers of good and evil in nature, and idols of all kinds. It is this comprehensive cult which required forgiveness again and again, but Allah is Exalted in Power, and gives such forgiveness on repentance.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “My parable and that of yours is like a man who kindled a fire. When it has illuminated all around him, the moths and grasshoppers began to fall therein. He tried to push them away, but they overcame him and jumped into it. I am catching hold of your waist’s ties (to save you) from fire, but you slip away from my hands”.

[Muslim Book 030, Chapter 06, Hadith # 5672].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 41. “O my people! How is it that I call you to salvation” This Hadith mentions the extreme kindness which the Prophet (PBUH) had for the welfare of his followers. It also mentions the misfortune of those who would become the fuel of Hell for not accepting Islam in spite of the utmost affection and ardor of the Prophet (PBUH) to bring them in the fold of Islam. People who fail to accept Islam would fall in the Hell-fire in the same way moths fall in the fire..

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 40 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (03 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 40. “Whosoever does an evil deed, will not be requited except the like thereof, and whosoever does a righteous deed, whether male or female and is a true believer (in the Oneness of Allah), such will enter Paradise, where they will be provided therein (with all things in abundance) without limit.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 40. “He that works evil will not be requited but by the like thereof: and he that works a righteous deed whether man or woman – and is a Believer- such will enter the Garden (of Bliss): Therein will they have abundance without measure. Cf. 2:212. The spiritual Good will not only last. It will be a most liberal reward, far above any merits of the recipient..

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Masud Uqbah bin Amr Al-Ansari Al-Badri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW]((PBUH)  said, “Whoever guides someone to virtue will be rewarded equivalent to him who practices that good action”. [Muslim].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 40. “Whosoever does a righteous deed, whether male or female and is a true believer (in the Oneness of Allah), such will enter Paradise” The statement quoted in this Hadith was made by the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW]((PBUH)  when, on a certain occasion, someone requested him to give an animal for riding. The Prophet ﷺ (PBUH) replied that he did not have any. A man who was present there said that he could show him the man who could help him in the matter. This is how the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW]((PBUH) revealed the reward of directing people to good deeds, which is mentioned in this Hadith.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 38 & 39 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (02 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 38. (A believing man of Firaun’ s (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith further) said: “O my people! Follow me, I will guide you to the way of right conduct [i.e. guide you to Allah’s religion of Islamic Monotheism with which Musa (Moses) has been sent].

Ayat 39. “O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the Hereafter that is the home that will remain forever.”

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 38. The man who believed said further: “O my people! Follow me: I will lead you to the Path of Right. Note the contrast between the earnest beseeching tone of the Believer here and the hectoring tone of Pharaoh in using similar words in 40:29. Ayat 39. “O my people! This life of the present is nothing but (temporary) convenience: It is the Hereafter that is the Home that will last. Faith makes him see the contrast between vanities, even though they may glitter temporarily, and the eternal Good that is destined for man.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Shaddad bin Aus (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “A wise man is the one who calls himself to account (and refrains from doing evil deeds) and does noble deeds to benefit him after death; and the foolish person is the one who subdues himself to his temptations and desires and seeks from Allah the fulfillment of his vain desires”

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2459].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 39. “O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the Hereafter that is the home that will remain forever.” This Hadith highlights the importance of the accountability of one’s self. Mere desires which are not coupled with practical efforts are of no avail because Allah grants reward on good deeds and not on yearnings and desires which are not supported by noble actions.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 36 & 37 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (01 Oct 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 36. And Firaun (Pharaoh) said: “O Haman! Build me a tower that I may arrive at the ways,

Ayat 37. “The ways of the heavens, and I may look upon the Ilah (God) of Musa (Moses) but verily, I think him to be a liar.” Thus it was made fair-seeming, in Firaun’ s (Pharaoh) eyes, the evil of his deeds, and he was hindered from the (Right) Path, and the plot of Firaun (Pharaoh) led to nothing but loss and destruction (for him).

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 36 and 37. Pharaoh said: “O Haman! Build me a lofty palace, that I may attain the ways and means, Cf. 28:38. There are two points to be noted here. (1) Pharaoh, in the arrogance of his materialism, thinks of the Kingdom of Heaven like a kingdom on earth; he thinks of spiritual things in terms of palaces and ladders: notice that the word asbab (ways and means) is emphasized by repetition. (2) His sarcasm turns Moses and Allah to ridicule. Really, he does not believe in anything spiritual, and he frankly states that ‘for his part he thinks Moses is a liar’, though other men less lofty than he (Pharaoh) may be deceived by the Clear Signs of Moses. Ayat 37. “The ways and means of (reaching) the heavens, and that I may mount up to the Allah of Moses: But as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a liar!” Thus, was made alluring, in Pharaoh’s eyes, the evil of his deeds, and he was hindered from the Path; and the plot of Pharaoh led to nothing but perdition (for him). Pharaoh’s speech shows how his own egotism and haughty arrogance brought him to this pass, that even the evil which he did seemed alluring in his own eyes! His heart was indeed sealed, and his arrogance prevented him from seeing the right path. (With the Kufi Qira’ah I read sudda in the passive voice). Pharaoh had plotted to kill Moses (40:26) and to kill the Children of Israel (40:25). The plot recoiled on his own head and on the head of his people who joined in the plot; for they were all drowned in the Red Sea.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Said Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “The best type of Jihad (striving in the way of Allah) is speaking a true word in the presence of a tyrant ruler.”

[Abu Dawud Hadith # 4344 and At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2174].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 37 “the plot of Firaun (Pharaoh) led to nothing but loss and destruction (for him)” Jihad has many degrees. Preaching virtue is also Jihad. The most meritorious of all is the effort of communicating the Message of Allah to an unjust ruler. Similarly, if a society is so much given to a vice that no one can dare to utter a word against it, then to protest against it can also be reckoned as the best Jihad.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 35 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (30 Sep 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 35. (A believing man of Firaun’ s (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith further said) Those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, without any authority that has come to them, it is greatly hateful and disgusting to Allah and to those who believe. Thus does Allah seal up the heart of every arrogant, tyrant. (So, they cannot guide themselves to the Right Path.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 35. “(Such) as a dispute about the Signs of Allah, without any authority that hath reached them, grievous and odious (is such conduct) in the sight of Allah and of the Believers. Thus, doth Allah seal up every heart – of arrogant and obstinate Transgressors.” The arrogant transgressors having closed their hearts to the Message of Allah and to every appeal made to them, it followed by Allah’s Law that their hearts were sealed up to any fresh influences for goods.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Salamah bin Al-Akwa` (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Man continues to display haughtiness and arrogance until he is recorded among the arrogant and will be therefore afflicted with what afflicts them.”

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2000]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 35 “Allah seal up the heart of every arrogant, tyrant. (So, they cannot guide themselves to the Right Path” To adopt the habits and manners of good people is deemed to be desirable. But, on the contrary, to take to the bad ways of bad people is considered undesirable. A man will ultimately be counted among those people whom he will take as a model to emulate, because he is gradually fitted into their framework and assimilates all of their qualities. Quite naturally then retribution will be administered to him accordingly.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 34 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (29 Sep 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 34. (A believing man of Firaun’ s (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith further said) And indeed Yusuf AS (Joseph) did come to you, in times gone by, with clear signs, but you ceased not to doubt in that which he did bring to you, till when he died you said: “No Messenger will Allah send after him.” Thus Allah leaves astray him who is a Musrif (a polytheist, oppressor, a criminal, sinner who commit great sins) and a Murtab (one who doubts Allah’s Warning and His Oneness).

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 34. “And to you there came Joseph in times gone by, with Clear Signs, but ye ceased not to doubt of the (Mission) for which he had come: At length, when he died, ye said: ´No messenger will Allah send after him.´ thus doth Allah leave to stray such as transgress and live in doubt, so far he has been speaking of general religious tradition. Now, as an Egyptian, addressing Egyptians, he refers to the mission of Joseph in Egypt. Joseph was not born in Egypt, nor was he an Egyptian. With what wonderful incidents he came into Egypt! What difficulties did he not surmount among his own brothers first, and in the Egyptian family which afterwards adopted him! How injustice, spite, and forgetfulness on the part of others, yet wove a spell round him and made him a ruler and savior of Egypt in times of famine! How he preached to prisoners in prison, to Zulaykha in her household, to the Egyptian ladies in their banquet, and to the Court of Pharaoh generally! The Egyptians profited by the material gains which came to them through him, but as a nation remained skeptical of his spiritual truths for many generations after him. Perhaps the interval was about one to three centuries, a very short period for the memory of a learned nation like the Egyptians. And yet they as a nation ignored his spiritual work, and afterwards even persecuted Israel in Egypt until Moses delivered them. They actually saw the benefits conferred by Joseph, but did not realize that Allah’s Kingdom works continuously even though men ignore it. For such men how could the Grace and Guidance of Allah be effective in their hearts?.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: It was asked, “O Messenger of Allah ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH)! Who is the most honorable amongst mankind?” He   [SAWW](PBUH) said, “The most honorable of them is one who is the most pious of them.” They said, “We are not asking about this”. He said, “Then, the most honorable of men was Yusuf [PBUH] (Joseph), the Prophet of Allah, the son of Allah’s Prophet, who was the son of the Prophet of Allah, who was the son of the Khalil of Allah (i.e., Ibrahim (PBUH))’ They said, “We are not asking you about this.” He enquired, “Are you then asking me about the classes of the Arabs? The best of them in the Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance are the best of them in Islam, provided they comprehend the religious knowledge”.

[Al-Bukhari Book 05, Chapter 55, Hadith # 572]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 34. “Indeed Yusuf (Joseph) did come to you, in times gone by, with clear signs” We come to know from this Hadith that the families which enjoyed popularity and prestige for their eminent qualities (like generosity, chivalry, honesty, etc.) in the pre-Islamic period were also credited for these values after their acceptance of Islam. But now their respect was qualified with their religious knowledge and practice. Their capabilities, self-respect and other qualities were turned towards a different direction. These qualities which were previously used for paganism were now devoted for Islam.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 30 to 33 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (28 Sep 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 30. (A believing man of Firaun’ s (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith said) “O my people! And he who believed said: “O my people! Verily, I fear for you a fate like that day (of disaster) of the Confederates (of old)!

Ayat 31. “Like the fate of the people of Nuh (Noah), and ‘Ad, and Thamud and those who came after them. And Allah wills no injustice for (His) slaves.

Ayat 32. “And, O my people! Verily! I fear for you the Day when there will be mutual calling (between the people of Hell and of Paradise).”

Ayat 33. A Day when you will turn your backs and flee having no protector from Allah, and whomsoever Allah sends astray, for him there is no guide.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 30 to 33. Then said the man who believed: “O my people! Truly I do fear for you something like the Day (of disaster) of the Confederates (in sin)! – He appeals to past history “Have you not heard of people who lived before you?-like the generations of Noah, ‘Ad, Thamud, and many more-who held together in sin against Allah’s Preachers, but were wiped out for their sins?” Cf. 38:11-13, and also 40:5. Ayat 31. “Something like the fate of the People of Noah, the ´Ad, and the Thamud, and those who came after them: but Allah never wishes injustice to his Servants. All these disasters happened in history, and they will happen again to you if you do not give up evil. Do not for a moment think that Allah is unjust. It is you who are deliberately preparing the disasters by your conduct. Ayat 32. “And O my people! I fear for you a Day when there will be mutual calling (and wailing), This Day may refer to the Day of Judgment, of which three features are here referred to. (1) People may wail and call to each other, but no one can help another: each one will have his own judgment to face; (2) the wicked will then be driven to Hell from the Judgment Seat; and (3) there will be no one to help, guide, or intercede, because the grace and guidance of Allah had already been rejected. But the words are perfectly general, and are applicable to all stages at which the Wrath of Allah is manifest. Ayat 33. “A Day when ye shall turn your backs and flee: No defender shall ye have from Allah. Any whom Allah leaves to stray, there is none to guide.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Zamah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, giving a speech when he mentioned the she-camel (of Prophet Saleh PBUH) and the man who had killed her. Messenger of Allah   [SAWW](PBUH) said: “When the most wicked man among them went forth (to kill the she-camel).’ (91:12) signifies that a distinguished, wicked and most powerful chief of the people jumped up to kill the she-camel.”

[Muslim Book 40, Chapter 13, Hadith # 6837].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 31. “Like the fate of the people of Nuh (Noah), and ‘Ad, and Thamud and those who came after them. And Allah wills no injustice for (His) slaves. It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged themselves and got punished for their sins..

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 29 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (27 Sep 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 29.  (A believing man of Firaun’ s (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith said) “O my people! Yours is the kingdom this day, you are uppermost in the land. But who will save us from the Torment of Allah, should it befall us?” Firaun (Pharaoh) said: “I show you only that which I see (correct), and I guide you only to the path of right policy!”

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 29. “O my People! Yours is the dominion this day: Ye have the upper hand in the land: but who will help us from the Punishment of Allah, should it befall us?” Pharaoh said: “I point out to you what I see (myself); Nor do I guide you but to the Path of Right!” ‘Do not be puffed up with arrogance because the power is in your hands at present! Do you deserve it? Will it last? If you are sinning and drawing upon yourselves Allah’s Punishment, is there anything that can shield you from it?’ Pharaoh’s egotism and arrogance come out. ‘I can see and understand everything. As I see things, so do I direct you. The Path which I see must be right, and you must follow it.’.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Tamim bin Aus Ad-Dari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Ad-Deen is sincerity”. We said: “For whom?” He replied, “For Allah, His Book, His Messenger and for the leaders of the Muslims and their masses”.

[Muslim Book 01, Chapter 24, Hadith # 098]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 29. “You are the best in the land. But who will save us from the Torment of Allah, should it befall us?” This Hadith stresses the importance and merits of general sincerity. Sincerity for Allah here means that one must have true faith in Him and He should be worshipped with full devotion and sincerity. Sincerity for the Qur’an means that one should confirm its truth with one’s full heart and mind, recite it regularly, act upon the injunctions contained in it with meticulous care and strictly avoid its misinterpretation. Sincerity of the Prophet  ﷺ (PBUH) means sincere confirmation of his Prophet hood, faithful obedience of his orders and adherence to his Sunnah. The goodwill of the Muslim rulers stands here for co-operating with them in their lawful orders and obedience of their orders which are free from any trace of sin. If they deviate from the Straight Path they should be persuaded to turn to virtue. One should not revolt against them unless they commit infidelity. The goodwill of the Muslim masses means that one should work for the betterment of their life in this world and the Hereafter. They should be provided the right guidance, induced to perform good deeds and deterred from evils.
