Surah Al Mumin Ayat 58 & 59 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (16 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 58. And not equal are the blind and those who see, nor are (equal) those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous good deeds, and those who do evil. Little do you remember!

Ayat 59. Verily, the Hour (Day of Judgment) is surely coming, therein is no doubt, yet most men believe not.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 58. Not equal are the blind and those who (clearly) nor are (equal) those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and those who do evil. Little do ye learn by admonition! The man of Faith who backs his faith by righteous conduct is like the man of clear vision, who sees things in their true perspective and walks with firm steps in the Way of Allah. The man who does evil is like a blind man: the Light of Allah is all around him, but the man has made himself blind, and he can see nothing. He has rejected Faith and cannot even learn by other people’s admonition. Ayat 59. The Hour will certainly come: Therein is no doubt: Yet most men believe not. “The Hour” is the crown and consummation of man’s life on this earth—the gateway to the Hereafter.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ibn Masood (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Truth leads to piety and piety leads to Jannah. A man persists in speaking the truth till he is enrolled with Allah as a truthful. Falsehood leads to vice and vice leads to the Fire (Hell), and a person persists in telling lies until he is enrolled as a liar”.’

[Muslim Book 32, Chapter 26, Hadith # 6306].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 58. And not equal are the blind and those who see, nor are (equal) those who believe” Siddiq (veracious) and Kadhdhab (liar) both are adjectives of intensive degree. That is to say, the words stand respectively for someone whose truth has become his second nature; and in the opposite case, one is a liar who is in the habit of telling lies. As one acquires a reputation in this world for his good or bad deeds similar is his position before Allah. One who is ranked among the truthful with Him is entitled to reward, and if one is a liar, he has to suffer retribution for it. This Hadith provides incentive for truthfulness because it is a source of every good deed and contains a warning against lying as it gives rise to all kinds of mischief.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 57 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (15 Oct 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 57. The creation of the heavens and the earth is indeed greater than the creation of mankind, yet most of mankind know not.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 57. Assuredly the creation of the heavens and the earth is a greater (matter) than the creation of men: Yet most men understand not. The heavens and the earth include mankind and all other creatures and millions of stars. Man is himself but a tiny part of creation. Why should he be so egocentric? The whole is greater than a tiny part of it. And Allah Who created the whole of the Worlds is able to do much more wonderful things than can enter the imagination of man. Why should man be arrogant and doubt the Resurrection, and take upon himself to doubt the possibility of Allah’s Revelation? It is only because he has made himself blind.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) saying, “Man follows his friend’s religion, you should be careful who you take for friends”.

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 4833 and Abu Dawud Hadith # 2378].

Lesson: This Hadith also induces one to avoid the company of impious people and seek the association of the pious persons.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 56 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (14 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 56. Verily, those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, without any authority having come to them, there is nothing else in their breasts except pride [to accept you (Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) as a Messenger of Allah and to obey you]. They will never have it (i.e. Prophethood which Allah has bestowed upon you). So seek refuge in Allah (from the arrogant). Verily, it is He Who is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 56. Those who dispute the signs of Allah without any authority bestowed on them, there is nothing in their breasts but (the quest of) greatness, which they shall never attain: seek refuge, then, in Allah. It is He Who hears and sees (all things). The Disputes are actuated by nothing but the desire for self-glory and self-aggrandizement. Their desire is not likely to receive fruition, but others should take warning from it..

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,  “Seek refuge in Allah against the turmoil, attacks of misfortunes, and evil of judgment and joys of the enemies.”

[Al-Bukhari Book 8, Chapter 75, Hadith # 358 and Muslim]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 56 “seek refuge in Allah (from the arrogant). Verily, it is He Who is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer” The trouble of a trial which is unbearable for a person and from which he does not have the power to rid himself is called (juhd al-bala’), translated here as turmoil. Some people are of the opinion that it is synonymous with poverty combined with abundant children. But Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar is of the view that it is only one of the several kinds of “Troubles of a Trial.” “Ash-Shaqa’ is the opposite of good fortune, that is, to pray for protection from misfortune. No Decision of Allah is wrong but some of His Decisions may be harmful for certain people while others are beneficial for them. This means that their goodness or badness is related to persons. What it signifies is that one should pray to Allah to keep one safe from such decisions which are harmful for him. “Shamatat” the pleasure that one’s enemy feels in one’s trouble. In other words, it is prayed that Allah may protect one from any such trouble which is pleasing to one’s enemy, because when a person is in trouble; his enemies feel pleasure over it. In this Hadith, one sentence was added by Abu Sufyan and during his old age he did not remember which one it was. But we learn from other Hadith that it was “the pleasure of enemies”. (Ibn Allan). This Hadith also shows the honesty and integrity of the narrators of Hadith. They were honest to the extent that if a few words of supplication were added to a Hadith by its narrators, they would point it out. Some scholars have regarded these words an addition in the Hadith by its narrator, who is otherwise reliable, but it is not a problem of “addition of authority” because in that case, the addition is the saying of the Prophet (PBUH) which is mentioned by one narrator and omitted by another. But here it is quite different as the narrator of the Hadith himself is pointing out the addition made by him. Such additional words are technically called “Mudraj”.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 55 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (13 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 55. So be patient (O Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH), Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and ask forgiveness for your fault, and glorify the praises of your Lord in the Ashi (i.e. the time period after the midnoon till sunset) and in the Ibkar (i.e. the time period from early morning or sunrise till before midnoon) [it is said that, that means the five compulsory congregational Salat (prayers) or the ‘Asr and Fajr prayers].

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 55. Patiently, then, persevere: for the Promise of Allah is true: and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and celebrate the Praises of thy Lord in the evening and in the morning. The Israelites corrupted or lost their Book: they disobeyed Allah’s Law; and failed to proclaim and exemplify Allah’s Message. That is why the new Revelation came to the Prophet. If, in the beginning, it was rejected and persecuted, there was no cause for discouragement; on the contrary, there was all the greater need for patience and perseverance. Every mortal according to his nature and degree of spiritual enlightenment falls short of the perfect standard of Allah (16:61), and should therefore ask Allah for forgiveness. What is merit in an ordinary man may be a human shortcoming in one nearest to Allah: see 38:24-25. Prophets have a further responsibility for their People or their Ummah, and they ask in a representative capacity. Cf. 3:41 . Evening and morning are the best times for contemplation and spiritual effort. But the phrase “evening and morning” may mean “at all times”.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,  reported I heard : The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) saying: “By Allah, I seek Allah’s forgiveness and repent to Him more than seventy times a day.”

[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 75, Hadith # 319]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat. 55. “And ask forgiveness for your fault, and glorify the praises of your Lord” 1. It is an inducement for seeking pardon and forgiveness. The Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH), whose past and future sins were forgiven, asked Allah’s forgiveness – then how about us, who commit sins on regular basis, not to seek pardon and forgiveness from Allah?

2. Sincere and ceaseless prayer for pardon is essential so that sins committed by us unintentionally are also forgiven. The above Hadith lays great emphasis on seeking pardon..

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 53 & 54 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (12 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 53. And, indeed Allah gave Musa AS (Moses) the guidance, and caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture [i.e. the Tourat (Torah)],

Ayat 54. A guide and a reminder for men of understanding.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 53. We did aforetime give Moses the (Book of) Guidance, and We gave the book in inheritance to the Children of Israel, Moses was given a Revelation, and it was given in heritage to the Children of Israel, to preserve it, guide their conduct by, and hold aloft its Message; but they failed in all these particulars. Ayat 54. A Guide and a Message to Men of Understanding..

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Zaid bin Labidh (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW]((PBUH) mention about very dangerous thing and said, “There will be time (in future) where knowledge of Deen (Islamic Teachings) will be vanished.” Hazrat Zaid (May Allah be pleased with him) further asked, O’ Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW]((PBUH) how come the knowledge of Deen (Islamic Teachings)will be vanished we are reciting Quran and also teaching our children (descendants) and they are teaching their children (descendants), in reply The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW]((PBUH) said ” O’Zaid I think of you as most intelligent person of Madinah, you do not notice the Jews and Christian are reciting (Scripture) the Tourat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) Holy Bible (the Holy Books), but do they follow the teaching in it ? “.

[Ibn Majah].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 54. “A guide and a reminder for men of understanding” also mentioned in Surah Al-Maidah Ayat 66. And if only they had acted according to the Tourat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), and what has (now) been sent down to them from their Lord (the Qur’an), they would surely have gotten provision from above them and from underneath their feet. This Hadith serves a stern warning for those who do not follow the Divine injunctions and do not discharge their duty towards Allah. such follower of Islam who just recite Quran but do not intent to follow its message and teaching, it is regrettable indeed that present-day Muslims do not follow this the Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) and instead observe the baseless practices, also ‘Ulama’, preachers and reformers of the Ummah whose own conduct is contrary to the sermons they give from the pulpit. This Hadith confirms that all Prophets of Allah were men and thus refutes those who attribute divinity to them and exclude them from the category of men or regard them a part of Allah, as Christians believes Prophet Isa (AS) (Jesus to be Christ) by regarding him Allah or His son, or the Jews do Prophet `Uzair (AS) by venerating him as son of Allah.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 51 & 52 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (11 Oct 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 51. Verily, we will indeed make victorious Our Messengers and those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) in this world’s life and on the Day when the witnesses will stand forth, (i.e. Day of Resurrection),

Ayat 52. The Day when their excuses will be of no profit to Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah). Theirs will be the curse, and theirs will be the evil abode (i.e. painful torment in Hell-fire).

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 51. We will, without doubt, help our messengers and those who believe, (both) in this world´s life and on the Day when the Witnesses will stand forth, The Day of Judgment is described as “the Day when Witnesses will stand forth”. This description implies two things: (1) that their man will be judged justly; his past actions and his faculties and opportunities will be witnesses as to the use he made of them (24:24); intact he will himself be a witness against himself (6:130); and the prophets and just men will bear witness to the fact that they preached and warned men (39:69; 2:133). Ayat 52. The Day when no profit will be to Wrong-doers to present their excuses, but they will (only) have the Curse and the Home of Misery. After the testimony mentioned in the last note, there will be no room for excuses, and if any were made, they could serve no purpose, unlike the state of matters in this world, where there is much make-believe, and Falsehood often masquerades as Truth and is accepted as such even by those who should know better.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I can still recall as if I am seeing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) resembling one of the Prophets whose people scourged him and shed his blood, while he wiped blood from his face, he said: “O Allah! Forgive my people, because they certainly do not know”.

[Al-Bukhari 09, Chapter 84, Hadith # 63].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 52. The Day when their excuses will be of no profit to Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers” It mentions the refined character and compassion of the Prophets which has an important lesson for those who preach righteousness. They should be always prepared to face hardships involved in inviting people to the right path and, instead of retaliation, forgive their audience and pray for their guidance. These noble qualities are extremely important for those who are devoted to preaching religion.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 49 & 50 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (10 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 49. And those in the Fire will say to the keepers (angels) of Hell: “Call upon your Lord to lighten for us the torment for a day!”

Ayat 50. They will say: “Did they not come to you, your Messengers with (clear) evidence and signs? They will say: “Yes.” They will reply: “Then call (as you like)! And the invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but an error!”

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 49. Those in the Fire will say to the Keepers of Hell: “Pray to your Lord to lighten us the Penalty for a day (at least)!” Cf. 39:71. The poor misguided ones will turn to the angels who are their Keepers, asking them to pray and intercede for them. But the angels are set there to watch over them, not to intercede for them. In their innocence they ask, ‘Did you have no warnings from messengers, men like yourselves, in your past life?’ Ayat 50. They will say: “Did they not come to you, your messengers with Clear Signs?” They will say, “Yes”. They will reply, “Then pray (as ye like)! But the prayer of those without Faith is nothing but (futile wandering) in (mazes of) error!” The answer being in the affirmative, they will have to tell the dreadful truth: ‘This is neither the time nor the place for prayer, for mercy! And in any case, Prayer without Faith is Delusion, and must miss its mark.’ Cf. 13:14.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Among the people of Hell are there those who will be immersed in fire to their ankles, some to their knees, some to their waists, and some to their throats”.

[Muslim Book 040, Chapter 12, Hadith # 6815].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 49. “And those in the Fire will say to the keepers (angels) of Hell” This Hadith tells us that the inhabitants of Jannah will be classified into different categories and enjoy different kinds of luxuries according to their merits. A similar classification will also be made in the inhabitants of Hell and they will suffer torments according to their misdeeds.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 47 & 48 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (09 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 47. And, when they will dispute in the Fire, the weak will say to those who were arrogant; “Verily! We followed you, can you then take from us some portion of the Fire?”

Ayat 48. Those who were arrogant will say: “We are all (together) in this (Fire)! Verily Allah has judged between (His) slaves!”

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 47. Behold, they will dispute with each other in the Fire! The weak ones (who followed) will say to those who had been arrogant, “We but followed you: Can ye then take (on yourselves) from us some share of the Fire? Just as Unity, Harmony, and Peace are symbols of Truth, Bliss, and Salvation, so Reproaches, Disputes, and Disorders are symbols of Hell. Ayat 48. Those who had been arrogant will say: “We are all in this (Fire)! Truly, Allah has judged between (his) Servants!” Note the evasion and cynicism of the answer, befitting the character of spiritual misleaders! ‘What! are we not suffering with you in the same Fire! Pray to Allah if you like! He has pronounced His Judgment!’ Cf. 14:21-22..

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Usamah bin Zaid (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and will be cast into Hell, and his intestines will pour forth and he will go round them as a donkey goes round a millstone. The inmates of Hell will gather round him and say: `What has happened to you, O so-and-so? Were you not enjoining us to do good and forbidding us to do evil?’ He will reply: `I was enjoining you to do good, but was not doing it myself; and I was forbidding you to do evil, but was doing it myself”.

[Al-Bukhari Book 04, Chapter 54, Hadith # 489].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat. 48. Those who were arrogant will say: “We are all (together) in this (Fire)! Verily Allah has judged between (His) slaves!” This Hadith serves a stern warning for such `Ulama’, preachers so called scholars and reformers of the Ummah whose own conduct is contrary to the sermons they give from the pulpit.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 46 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (08 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 46. The Fire; they are exposed to it, morning and afternoon, and on the Day when the Hour will be established (it will be said to the angels): “Cause Firaun’s (Pharaoh) people to enter the severest torment!”

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 46. In front of the Fire will they be brought, morning and evening in their graves: And (the sentence will be) on the Day that Judgment will be established: “Cast ye the People of Pharaoh into the severest Penalty in graves!” When the Judgement really comes, it is not like an ordinary physical disaster. The Fire of Punishment is ever present-morning and evening-i.e., at all times. The sentence becomes final and there is no mitigation.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) used to supplicate: “Allahumma inni A’udhu bika minal-ajzi wal-kasali, wal-jubni wal-harami, wal-bukhli, WA A’udhu bika min `adhabil-qabri, wa A’udhu bika min fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat [O Allah! I seek refuge in You from helplessness (to do good), indolence, cowardice, senility, and miserliness; and I seek Your Protection against the torment of the grave and the trials of life and death].” Another narration adds: “wa dala`id-daini wa ghalabatir-rijal (And from the burden of indebtedness and the tyranny of men).”

[Muslim Book 35, Chapter 14, Hadith # 6536]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 46. The Fire; they are exposed to it, morning and afternoon, and on the Day when the Hour will be established, This prayer is also very comprehensive. It is this mischief against which Allah’s Protection has been sought through this prayer.

Surah Al Mumin Ayat 45 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (07 Oct, 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 45. So, Allah saved him (A believing man of Firaun’s (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith) from the evils that they plotted (against him), while an evil torment encompassed Firaun’s (Pharaoh) people.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 45. Then Allah saved him from (every) ill that they plotted (against him), but the brunt of the Penalty encompassed on all sides the People of Pharaoh. The Pharaoh of the time of Moses, and his people, suffered many calamities in this world: 7:130-136. But those were nothing to the spiritual Penalties mentioned in the next verse.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said,  “Allah, the Exalted, has said: `I will declare war against him who treats with hostility a pious worshipper of Mine. And the most beloved thing with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (voluntary prayers or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) until I love him, (so much so that) I become his hearing with which he hears, and his sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me something, I will surely give him, and if he seeks My Protection (refuge), I will surely protect him”.

[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 76, Hadith # 509].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 45. So, Allah saved him (A believing man of Firaun’s (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith) from the evils that they plotted” This Hadith tell us the status and distinctive signs of the favored men of Allah (‘Auliya’ Allah) The Noble Qur’an has defined them as: “Those who believed (in the Oneness of Allah) and used to fear Allah much (by abstaining from evil deeds and sins and by doing righteous deeds)”. (10:63). According to this definition, every believer who really fears Allah is a favored of Allah. It means that except for Faith and piety, those favored by Allah are neither people of the special kind nor have they any special distinctive signs, as is generally thought by some people. In this respect, the ignorance of the general public is shocking because they regard even such persons as favored of Allah who not only neglect the religious obligations and the practice of the Prophet (PBUH), but also woefully lack cleanliness. Sometimes they call even mad or half-mad persons as favorites of Allah, whereas a Wali in the true sense is one who is meticulous about observing the obligations and is fearful of Allah. This Hadith brings about the following points: Firstly, the loves of those whom Allah loves entail the love of Allah, and hating them entails the hatred of Allah. Secondly, when a true Muslim acquires nearness and love of Allah by means of performing religious obligations, supererogatory and voluntary prayers, Allah then becomes his special helper and protects his limbs and organs and does not let them work for His disobedience.
