Surah An Nahl – Ayah 28 & 29

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayat 28 & 29_*

*_Those whose souls the angels take [in death] when they are wronging themselves. They will offer their submission, saying: We did not do anything wrong. [It will be said to them:] Nay; verily Allah has full knowledge of what you used to do;(28)._*

*_So enter the gates of hell, to abide therein forever. Wretched indeed is the abode of the arrogant!(29)_*

These Ayat describe the conditions of the arrogant disbelievers during and after their death.‼️ When death approaches and the angels come to seize their evil souls when they are still close to earth and to all the falsehood they asserted here, and all their evil scheming. These will then offer their submission, saying: *_”We didn’t do any evi!”_* Those who used to revel in their arrogance are now submissive, unable to contend. *They offer complete submission! But at the same time they lie.* Yet the answer comes to them straightaway from Allahﷻ who knows their true reality: *_“Nay, indeed. Allah has full knowledge of all that you used to do!”_* Their false plea is rejected in view of the fact that they were offered Allah Azzawajal’s guidance through HIS revealed messages, which they deliberately scorned in their false pride and dismissed it as a “fable of ancient times.”

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that disbelieving and indulging in polytheism and rebellion against Allahﷻ people wrongs themselves, because they suppress the voice of their own conscience which only recognizes monotheism. It results in not only the stoppage of the development of their self but also in its diminution.‼️ *By their own actions they have brought about their own ruin, and now they have to suffer punishment in hell.* They have to suffer the fate of all arrogant peoples who deny the truth. The angels of death inform the idolaters and polytheists at the time of their death that on the Day of Resurrection they are to enter the Hell and to abide therein forever. *This process starts from the beginning of the border of death, i.e. in the world of Barzakh, which in the hadith has been termed as the grave.* Their souls, and their bodies will feel the heat and hot winds of their graves. When the Day of Resurrection comes, their souls will be reunited with their bodies, to abide forever in the fire of Hell, and _Wretched indeed is the abode of the arrogant.(16:29)_ and _“It will not be complete enough to kill them nor shall its torment be lightened for them.” (35:36)_ The painful punishment will never be reduced or alleviated, not even for a single day, for the Most Merciful Lord will have turned away from them and caused them to taste the grievous punishment.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us a life of total submission to HIM and give us a ending upon Imaan. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 27

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 27_*

*_Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and will say: Where are My [so-called] partners for whose sake you used to oppose [the Prophets and the believers]? Those who were given knowledge will say: Verily today disgrace and punishment will befall the disbelievers,(27)_*

The Ayah describes the fate and humiliation of the plotters on the Day of Resurrection.‼️ *Not only their plots are foiled by Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la in this world like a crashing building burying them in their own schemes, they are made to stand in shame and humiliation before the One to whom all creation and all authority belong and their scheming and arrogance will be of no value to them on the Day of Requital.* Allah Azzawajal will rebuke them, asking: _“Where are those alleged partners of Mine concerning whom you have engaged in dispute?”_ You were keen to dispute with My Messenger and his followers who acknowledged My oneness, claiming that your false deities were My partners. Where are they now❓ In their shame and humiliation, they will remain silent. On the other hand, those endowed with knowledge, angels, messengers and true believers, whom Allah Azzawajal permits to speak, will say plainly and forcefully that *_disgrace and punishment will befall the disbelievers._*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the importance of gaining the true and right knowledge that leads a person to Tauheed.‼️ *True knowledge is knowledge that leads people to faith and encourages them to do good.* _This highlights the virtue of the believers with a right knowledge, for they are the speakers of truth in this world and will be the speakers of truth on the Day of Resurrection, for their words carry weight before Allah Azzawajal and before His creation._

–To understand that Knowledge and ignorance according to the Qur’an have a broad meaning and are not limited to the meaning of knowing and not.❗ *Knowledgeable people are those whose actions and thoughts are in line with the truth, even though they do not master all knowledge. As for ignorant people, they are those whose thoughts and actions are always accompanied by falsehood even though they master various disciplines.* This Ayah mentions that knowledgeable people are those who fight against disbelief and shirk. These people have faith in Tauheed.

Let’s strive to gain and obtain right and true to leads to perfection of our Imaan which will bring us closer to Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the right and true knowledge of Tauheed and make our hearts firm upon Islam. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 26

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 26_*

*_Those who came before them [also] plotted and planned, but Allah struck at the foundations of what they built and the roof fell down on them from above; the punishment came upon them from a direction they did not expect.(26)_*

The Ayah describes how the chain of conspirators continued to work against the word of Allah Azzawajal and HIS Messengers previously and with the continuous help of Allah Azzawajal it was foiled. It provides a stern warning to the conspirators and a form of solace to the believers.‼️ *Their entire plotting is compared metaphorically to a building with foundations, corners, ceiling and roof, which implies that it was a massive and well designed plot. But nothing can stand up to Allah Azzawajal’s might.* _HE SWT struck their edifice at its foundation, and its roof fell in upon them from above. This paints a picture of total destruction, overtaking them from beneath their feet and above their heads. The foundations supporting the building collapse, and the roof falls down burying them. “And suffering befell them from where they did not perceive.” Thus the building they very carefully constructed to provide them with shelter becomes their burial ground as they are overwhelmed from every direction. Little did they think that what they built for shelter would become the instrument of their own destruction._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that Allah Azzawajal’s message goes on along its clear way, no matter what the plotters devise.‼️ *People turn around from time to time, and they see that their highly effective plots are completely foiled by the help of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la.* The plotters think that that their scheming is too strong and elaborate to ever be foiled. *But Allah Azzawajal’s own scheming is far too weighty for them to oppose.* This scene is often repeated from time to time. The Quraysh were not the first to take this stand, nor would they be the last, such enemies of Islam continue to come along in future too. But the advocates of Islam should continue to in their path with perseverance and seeking the help of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la which is sure to come.

–To eradicate the entire mental and organisational system of the enemies, one must deal with them fundamentally and not superficially so that all of them might be vanished. Therefore the believers should seek the correct and right knowledge of Deen and put the things into practice and show Islam as a practical religion.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and grant us the ability to hold on to the Deen of Islam with perseverance. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 24 & 25

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayat 24 & 25_*

*_When they are asked: What has your Lord sent down? they say: Tales of the ancients.(24)_*

*_Hence on the Day of Resurrection they will bear the full weight of their own burdens, as well as some of the burdens of those without knowledge, whom they misled. Miserable indeed will be their burden.(25)_*

The Ayat describes the arrogant nature of the disbelievers and their misleading behaviour with regard to the Qur’an.‼️ Whenever outsiders came to visit Makkah, they would naturally make inquiries with disbelieving Quraysh about the Quran, which the Prophet (peace be upon him) declared, was being sent down to him by Allah Azzawajal. *Those arrogant Quraysh leaders with hardened, unresponsive hearts and cunning nature used to to create doubts about the Qur’an by saying . that it contained merely fairy tales of the ancients which created doubts in the minds of the inquirers.* _Their purpose was to mislead them and see that they should not take any interest in the message of the Prophet (peace be upon him). They gave this opinion and called their followers to adopt it; hence they carry their own burden and the burden of all those who follow them until the Day of Resurrection._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the Qur’ān is indeed a blessing and a cure for the diseases of the heart, it addresses the minds and souls, deals with life situations, human behaviour, social interactions as well as people’s conditions, past, present and future.‼️ *Thus these wicked arrogant defiants of the truth entirely flipped the facts and held a malicious campaign against the Qur’an.* _Indeed the arrogant among the Quraysh were not the first to deny the truth or to scheme against it. A similar campaign is organized in every generation by arrogant people who do not wish to submit to the truth despite all the evidence supporting it._

These chiefs and leaders who are misleading the people will not only be bearing their own burdens of sins undiminished but will also have to bear the burdens of sins of those whom they had misled. In a hadith, the Prophet (Sallal Lahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) has stated:

*_“And he who invited (others) towards misguidance, on him there will be the burden of sins in the same way as it will be on those who followed him, without there being any diminishing in their sins.”_* -(Muslim)

—To understand that the root cause of most deviations is ignorance and the enemy of the truth usually exploits the ignorance of the people in their propaganda. Hence it is incumbent upon every believer to struggle and strive to obtain the right and correct knowledge of the Deen.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us true understanding of the Deen and save us from getting mislead and going astray. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 22 & 23

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayat 22 & 23_*

*_Your God is One God. As for those who do not believe in the hereafter, their hearts refuse to know, and they are arrogant.(22)_*
.
*_Undoubtedly Allah knows what they conceal and what they disclose. Verily He does not love the arrogant.(23)_*

The Ayat gives a clear statement of Allah Azzawajal’s oneness.‼️ *The Ayah provides a clear link between believing in Allah Azzawajal’s oneness and believing in the Day of Judgement.* _Indeed it makes the one evidence for the other, as worshipping Allah Azzawajal alone is closely associated with belief in resurrection and reward. It is in the hereafter that Allah’s wisdom and justice are clearly and fully manifested. Those who deny the oneness of Allah Azzawajal actually deny the hereafter and they are not prepared to accept that belief and as a result of false belief they consider bowing before the truth an act below their dignity._ *They have become so irresponsible, carefree and intoxicated with the life of this world, that they feel no hesitation or pang in denying any reality, and they put no value on or attach no worth to truth.* _That is why, they are not prepared to impose any moral restraint on themselves and feel no need to investigate as to whether the way, they are following is right or wrong._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the main source of disbelief is Arrogance and not Ignorance.‼️ *Anyone who sees himself as better than others will never accept the truth from them, and will even try to deny and reject it.* Even though they know very well that what the believers say and do is true and right. *They are not short of proof and evidence. The fault lies rather with them and their own hardened natures.* _Their hearts persistently deny the very signs they see. They are arrogant, unwilling to accept clear evidence, submit to Allah Azzawajal, and believe in HIS Messenger._ However, it seems that people like this do not know that *_”Allah Azzawajal does not love those who are arrogant.”_* An arrogant nature is unlikely to be convinced or to submit to the truth.

— _To clearly understand that the Belief in the Last Day makes humans feel humble, just as denial of the Last Day creates in them arrogance._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and make us humble and soften our hearts. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 20 & 21

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayat 20 & 21_*

*_Those they call upon besides Allah create nothing; they are themselves created.(20)_*

*_They are dead, lifeless; and they do not know when they will be resurrected.”(21)_*

The Ayat describes the exclusive power of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la and HIS abilities as a Creator of the entire universe.‼️ *The words employed here refute man made deities clearly indicate that these deities were deceased prophets, saints, martyrs and pious and other extraordinary beings buried in their graves.* _Here their false belief is refuted by saying that first of all they are not alive to hear your appeals for help, for they have long past left this world. As for their spirits in the world of Barzakh, they do no even know when the Day of Resurrection will occur and when they will be raised for living again. When these spirits do not know their own condition and future, how can they be able to meet your needs and come to your rescue ❓_ *For being able to meet the needs of others, first of all it is necessary to have the knowledge of the Unseen so that the condition of everyone may be known and his call for help may be heard.* _This is the *specific attribute* of Allah Azzawajal and there is no sharer or associate in this attribute._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to realise and understand that the Idols and false deities have no creative power or ability to bring anything into existence. These idols are themselves created beings, dependent on Allah Azzawajal for their existence.‼️ *Therefore it is totally futile to worship a created false deity.* They are unaware of their own existence, let alone the existence of others. They have no knowledge of the future, including the Day of Resurrection.

–Let’s recognise the distinction between Allah Azzawajal’s divine attributes and the limitations of created beings and the stark contrast between Allah Azzawajal’s living, all-knowing essence and the lifeless, ignorant nature of idols. So let’s submitt to Allah Azzawajal’s power and authority by rejecting idolatry and polytheism. Let’s pay emphasis on accountability and the afterlife.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and grant us the true understanding of the Deen. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 19

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 19_*

*_Allah knows what you conceal and what you disclose.(19)_*

The Ayah serves a very powerful reminder and highlights Allah Azzawajal’s omniscience and awareness of all things.‼️ *This Ayah authenticates the fact that HE SWT is the only creator who knows everything. HE SWT is the One who knows all the affairs of HIS creation.*
_It is not that Allah Subhanahu wa taa’l has created HIS creatures and then left them alone, but HE SWT always monitors their every move. Nothing is hidden from HIM. Especially related to humans who were created to do their work by choice and will. Allah Azzawajal knows their reasons and goals that others do not. Based on HIS absolute knowledge of all human deeds, Allah Azzawajal repays them for all the good and bad they do._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has complete knowledge of:

1. What we hide or keep secret (conceal)
2. What we reveal or make public (disclose)
– Our Thoughts and intentions
– Our Actions and deeds
– Our Spoken and unspoken words
– Our Public and private lives.

–Therefore let’s
1. Be mindful of our thoughts and actions
2. Be honest and transparent in our dealings
3. Fear Allah and strive to please HIM.

–Let’s remember and always keep in Mind
1. Allah’s omniscience and knowledge.
2. Accountability for one’s actions.
3. The importance of living a righteous and virtuous life.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to develop Taqwa in all our dealings of life. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 18

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 18_*

*_”And if you should count the Favors of Allah you cannot enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful”.(18)_*

_Though Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la goes on showering countless blessings upon people, they behave in an ungrateful, faithless and rebellious manner towards HIM.‼️ *HE SWT does not punish them immediately, but gives them respite, for HE SWT is Forgiving and Compassionate.* (This is true of both individuals and communities)._

_There are people, who deny even the existence of God, yet HE SWT goes on bestowing HIS favours on them for years till their end. There are others who set up partners with HIM in HIS Attributes, Powers and Rights, and show their gratitude to others than Him for His blessings, yet HE SWT does not withhold HIS favours from them; there are still others who profess to acknowledge HIM as their Creator and Benefactor, yet rebel against HIM and are disobedient to HIM, but in spite of all this HE SWT continues to shower HIS countless blessings on them as long as they live._

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To understand that of all Allah Azzawajal’s favours innumerable, HIS Mercy and Forgiveness in the spiritual plane are the greatest, and of eternal value to us in our future lives.‼️_
*If people are unable even to compute Allah Azzawajal’s blessings, they are much less likely to be able to thank HIM enough for them.* We only notice the importance of a blessing that we take for granted when it is withdrawn. Nevertheless, Allah Azzawajal’s forgiveness ensures that man’s shortcomings and lack of gratitude are overlooked: *_“Allah is indeed Much Forgiving, Merciful.”_* These are HIS beautiful attributes. Allah Azzawajal is a great Forgiver, therefore, HE SWT is inviting us to appreciate HIS favors and turn towards HIS forgiveness, and HE SWT is Most Merciful, therefore, HE SWT wants that we should join the band of HIS slaves and come under the blissful shadow of HIS mercy.

_Hence, let’s learn to seek His Forgiveness by forgiving others in our lives and always keep doing Tawbah and Astaghfar and receive HIS Mercy Continuously._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to always remain grateful to HIM through our Obedience and seek HIS forgiveness for our shortcomings. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 17_*

*_Is then He Who creates like one who cannot create? Will you not then pay heed?(17)_*

The Ayah poses a poses a rhetorical question _“Is HE, then, who creates like one that cannot create?”_ that highlights the contrast between Allah Azzawajal’s creative power and human limitations.‼️ *The Ayah calls to recognise and acknowledge Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la’s unique power and authority.* _It focuses on the vast difference between Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la, the Creator, and human beings or idols that are incapable of creation. It invites us to reflect, ponder, and ultimately submit to Allah Azzawajal’s majesty and wisdom. *“Will you not, then, think or pay heed?*_

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that *To place the Creator and the created one on par is most unreasonable and unjustifiable.*‼️ _The real waywardness of the polytheists is that they do not distinguish between the Creator and the created, and they associate the created ones with the Creator in HIS attributes, rights and authority. It may either be idolatry or hero-worship, all are the result of this false belief and practice._

—Let’s Ponder and reflect upon

1. The uniqueness of Allah Azzawajal’s creative power.
2. The limitations and weaknesses of human beings and idols
3. The importance of acknowledging and submitting to Allah’s authority.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and grant us the ability to adhere to Tauheed till the last breath of our life. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_And He has set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it shake with you; and rivers and paths so that you may find your way,(15)_*

*_And landmarks. And by the stars too people find their way.(16)_*

The Ayat highlights Allah Azzawajal’s wisdom and providence in creating a stable and navigable world so that the human life becomes sustainable on this planet.‼️ *Modern science gives us several theories which explain the formation of mountains, but it does not mention their function to which the Qur’ān refers.* The Qur’ān mentions that the mountains ensure that the earth remains well balanced and doesn’t shake but rests upon a solid foundation. In contrast with the firm mountains, our attentions are drawn to the running rivers and the roads we follow. Many a river starts at a mountain, where rain-water gathers. Rivers provide water, sustenance, and nourishment for humanity and the ecosystem. The paths and routes facilitate travel, exploration, and connection between communities. *_”so that you may find your way”_* – This phrase underscores the importance of guidance and direction in life, both physically and metaphorically. *As a sign Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has broken the monotony of land by placing conspicuous landmarks on it to distinguish different regions from one another.* _These have many benefits and one of these is to help guide travelers and navigators to their destinations. One also realizes the importance and value of these landmarks, when one is traveling through a sandy desert where there are hardly any objects to guide on the way, and one is liable to lose the way any time. One feels the lack of landmarks much more in the sea voyage. It is in the deserts and the seas that people realize the true significance of stars by which they are directed aright to their destinations._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to realise and understand Allah Azzawajal’s care and consideration in designing a world that supports human life and well-being, with features that:

1. Provide stability and safety
2. Sustain life and growth.
3. Facilitate exploration and connection
4. Offer guidance and direction.

Let’s keep thanking Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la for all HIS favours and blessings by following the true path that ultimately leads to HIM.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and guide us upon the straight path. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

JazaK Allâhu khair!
