Surah An Nahl – Ayah 15 & 16

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayat 15 & 16_*

*_And He has set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it shake with you; and rivers and paths so that you may find your way,(15)_*

*_And landmarks. And by the stars too people find their way.(16)_*

The Ayat highlights Allah Azzawajal’s wisdom and providence in creating a stable and navigable world so that the human life becomes sustainable on this planet.‼️ *Modern science gives us several theories which explain the formation of mountains, but it does not mention their function to which the Qur’ān refers.* The Qur’ān mentions that the mountains ensure that the earth remains well balanced and doesn’t shake but rests upon a solid foundation. In contrast with the firm mountains, our attentions are drawn to the running rivers and the roads we follow. Many a river starts at a mountain, where rain-water gathers. Rivers provide water, sustenance, and nourishment for humanity and the ecosystem. The paths and routes facilitate travel, exploration, and connection between communities. *_”so that you may find your way”_* – This phrase underscores the importance of guidance and direction in life, both physically and metaphorically. *As a sign Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la has broken the monotony of land by placing conspicuous landmarks on it to distinguish different regions from one another.* _These have many benefits and one of these is to help guide travelers and navigators to their destinations. One also realizes the importance and value of these landmarks, when one is traveling through a sandy desert where there are hardly any objects to guide on the way, and one is liable to lose the way any time. One feels the lack of landmarks much more in the sea voyage. It is in the deserts and the seas that people realize the true significance of stars by which they are directed aright to their destinations._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to realise and understand Allah Azzawajal’s care and consideration in designing a world that supports human life and well-being, with features that:

1. Provide stability and safety
2. Sustain life and growth.
3. Facilitate exploration and connection
4. Offer guidance and direction.

Let’s keep thanking Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la for all HIS favours and blessings by following the true path that ultimately leads to HIM.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and guide us upon the straight path. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 14

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 14_*

*_It is He Who has made the sea to be of service, so that you may eat from it succulent meat [fish] and bring forth from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships ploughing through the waves so that you may seek the bounty of Allah and so that you may give thanks.(14)_*

The Ayah draws our attention to one more group of Allah Azzawajal’s creation that is the Sea and it’s Marine life.‼️ *It’s water is salty and cannot be used for drinking or irrigation. Yet it includes a fantastic range of blessings that Allah Azzawajal bestows on man.* _The sea and its life forms also meet many human needs and satisfy various human desires. From it we obtain fresh fish and other species to eat. In it we find pearls and corals which we use as ornaments. Some communities continue to use shells as personal ornaments or to make artefacts from them. The reference to ships also hints at the element of beauty and its satisfaction, not merely the use of shipping for transport. *You see the ships ploughing through the waves.”*_

*_Act of thr Day is:_* to understand the fact that we should seek what Allah Azzawajal has given us of provision and bounty, and to our duty of giving thanks to HIM for having placed food, ornament and beauty for us in the salty sea.‼️ Because of the subjugation of sea for us HE SWT has made it possible for us to draw our provision through transportation of huge amount of commercial articles from one place to another in a economical way.

— To realise all these bounties and constantly thank and praise Allah Azzawajal. _To Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la be all praise and thanks, for HE SWT has given people that which is in their interests and to their benefit, more than they ask for and wish for, and HE SWT has given them some of all that they ask for._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to always remain grateful and humble for all HIS Bounties and Blessings. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 13_*

*_And [He has made to be of service to you] all that He has created on earth of different kinds of things. Verily in that there are signs for people who pay heed.(13)_*

The Ayah turns our attention to the things that are placed on the earth with huge diversity.‼️ The word *ذَرَأَ jara’a* means to make and multiply. These wonderful things include a variety of animals, minerals, inanimate objects and plants. All of these things having different shapes, colours and different functions which serve to make human life much easier. *Let’s reflect upon the blessing of Colour.* _Watching different coloured birds, insects animals and various inanimate objects brings us not only psychological soothing effect but also helps us in identification of these things and the colour of various fruits and crops helps us in determining the age type and the family it belongs to._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that these various diversities in every animate and inanimate objects point to the single power behind their creation and management.‼️ *This is a sign of Allah Azzawajal’s perfect might, immense generosity and abundant grace.* The people who bear in mind and they reflect upon that which Allah Azzawajal calls them to contemplate, so that they may pay heed to the evidence that points to HIM. *_This indicates that none should be worshipped but HIM Alone, with no partner or associate._*

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder upon HIS blessings and remain ever Grateful to HIM through our Obedience. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 12

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 12_*

*_And He has made the night and the day, and the sun and moon, to be of service to you, and the stars are also made subservient by His command. Verily in that there are signs for people of understanding.(12)_*

The Ayah recounts one more blessing of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la by making the heavenly bodies to be subservient to mankind for making their life at ease.‼️ *So by night we sleep and rest, and by day we go out to seek our livelihood and pursue our religious and worldly interests.* _From the sun and the moon there comes light which benefits the trees, crops and plants, and reduces moisture and dispels cold that may harm the land and people’s bodies, and other necessities that are connected to the existence of the sun and moon. In the sun and moon and in the stars there is adornment for the heavens, and they are used for the purpose of navigation in the dark on land and sea, for telling the time and working out dates; these are signs of varying kinds and significance._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to reflect upon these blessings and realise the benefit we derive from these arrangements which serve our various interests, to the extent that we cannot do without them at all.‼️ *The phenomenon of the succession of day and night has a profound effect on human life.* _If anyone is in doubt, let him imagine a day that is not followed by a night, or a night not followed by a day, and reflect what that would mean to the life of human beings, animals and plants on earth._ All this is, again, part of the wise and elaborate planning that includes everything in the universe. *The harmony and balance between all universal laws are appreciated by people who use their reason and contemplate what lies beyond these laws.* But the heedless who gain no benefit from seeing except like animals that have no reason.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to be grateful for all of these blessings by remaining obedient to HIS commands and stay away from HIS prohibitions. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 10 & 11

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayat 10 & 11_*

*_It is He Who sends down water from the sky; from it you drink, and from it grow the plants on which you pasture your livestock.(10)_*

*_With it He causes to grow for you grains, olives, date palms, grapes and all kinds of fruits. Verily in that there are signs for people who reflect.(11)_*

The Ayat describes one more blessing of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la upon Mankind.‼️ *Water pours down from the sky in accordance with laws that Allah Azzawajal has placed in nature and set into operation.* _It is these laws that control the running of such water and bring about its outcome in accordance with HIS will. Indeed HE SWT initiates every movement and determines every result by a special act of will. The water is mentioned here as an aspect of Allah Azzawajal’s grace. *“From it you drink.”* So it has the quality of being suitable for drinking. Its other quality follows: *“And with it grow the plants on which you pasture your cattle.”* This reference fits in well with the earlier mention of cattle. It provides harmony between the pasture and cattle. A reference is also made to plants which serve as food for man, including olives, dates and grapes, and many other types of fruit._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand and remain grateful for the blessings of Allah Azzawajal without which the life would have been remained unsuitable on this planet.‼️ *There is certainly a sign in the way Allah Azzawajal has designed the universe and set its laws so that they fit human life.* _The people *who think* are the ones who understand that there is elaborate and wise planning in the universe. They relate a natural phenomenon such as rain and its effects of initiating life and helping plants and trees to grow and yield their fruit to the higher laws of existence and the evidence pointing to the Creator who has no partners. They appreciate that everything is part of His planning and under His management. *The careless* see such phenomena every morning and every evening, winter and summer, but it stirs nothing in their minds. They do not feel any urge to try to identify the One who has designed this unique and remarkable system._ *Modern man* uses his energy in trying to find out what vitamins are found in which food and how many calories it contains, but he does not care to discover who has granted him these gifts, and what should be his attitude towards this benefactor and how should he show his gratitude. If man does not use his intelligence for this purpose, then he remains merely an animal.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to reflect and ponder upon all HIS favours and remain grateful for all HIS blessings. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 9

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 9_*

*_It is for Allah to show the straight path, and there are [other] paths which deviate from the right course. If He had so willed, He could have guided all of you.(9)_*

_This contains an argument for Prophethood along with a *proof of Tauhid and of Allah’s Compassion and Providence‼️*_ _The argument is this: There are many divergent ways of thought and action open for man to choose from. Obviously all these divergent ways cannot be straight ways, because there can be only one straight way; therefore, there can be only one right theory of life which is based on that way, and only one right way of life which is based on that right theory ._

_Thus it is clear that the choice of the right way of life is man’s most important and basic need, for its wrong choice would inevitably lead to his ruin. Here a question arises: *”Why didn’t Allah will to guide all the people aright inherently when He had taken upon Himself to show the Right Way?”* It is true that Allah could have imbued Man, like other creatures, with the inborn instinct and enabled him to choose the Right Way without conscious thought, experience or teaching. But this would have been against His will which was to create a being, having will and power and freedom to follow the Right Way or the wrong way, whichever he chose for himself. This is why he has been endowed with different means of knowledge and powers of conscious thought, deliberation and will, and has been empowered with the authority to make use of all powers in him and all things around him._

*_Act for the Day is:_* to understand clearly that Apart from tawheed or monotheism, which is the path of Islam, no other path is straight, but that all other paths are tortuous, and they do not lead up to Allah Azzawajal.‼️ _HE SWT has placed in a human and all around him such factors as might lead him to guidance or deviation. All these things would have become meaningless, had he been created righteous by birth, and he could never have attained the heights of progress, which can be achieved only by the right use of freedom. *That is why Allah Azzawajal has chosen Prophethood for Man’s guidance, and left him free to follow or reject a Prophet. This is a test by means of which Allah judges whether Man accepts the guidance that is presented to him.*_
_*Finally, it is important to understand that Allah Azzawajal could have forced all to the true Way, but in HIS Will and Plan is the training of man’s will, and that is done by the signs in nature and Revelation.*_

_So let’s try our best to READ both the books everyday, one – the open book, which is the Nature around us! And the closed book – Which is Al Qur’an, the revelation and find the right path for ourselves._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect upon the clean fitrah and us upon the straight path. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayat 7 & 8_*

*_And they carry your heavy loads to lands that you could not [otherwise] reach without great hardship. Verily your Lord is indeed Compassionate, Most Merciful.(7)_*

*_And [He has created] horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and use for show, and He will yet create things of which [today] you have no knowledge.(8)_*

These Ayat highlights the blessings of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la bestowed upon Mankind to make their life comfortable upon this planet.‼️ One of the benefit of the livestock is that they help us carry loads from one area of land to another without which it would have been much difficult. The other livestock such as those mentioned are Horses, Mules and donkeys are used for riding and travelling as well as a means of adornment while riding them. HE SWT will continue to bestow the things upon the mankind by creating the things or make the ease of inventions which we as humans do not have knowledge. Thus, under this very statement, included there are all newly invented transport facilities which did not exist in the past, nor was there any precise idea of what they shall be. For instance, there are railroads, automobiles and aeroplanes. Apart from these means of transport which have been invented to date, included here are all other ways and means which will be invented and used in the future.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to remain always grateful to Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la for making our lives easier and free from hardships.‼️ HE SWT is *Rauf رَءوفٌ* and *Raheem رَحيمٌ* . The meaning of رَءوفٌ is someone who knows what we are going through. Allah ﷻ knows what our needs and our hardships are, so Allah ﷻ gives us ease. Allah ﷻ gives that facility because Allah ﷻ is also رَحيمٌ – very loving towards us as His creatures.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to always remain grateful for HIS blessings by using them to gain HIS pleasure. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayat 5 & 6_*

*_And He created the livestock animals for you; they are a source of warm clothing [and blankets] and other benefits, and of their [meat] you eat.(5)_*

*_You find beauty in them when you bring them home in the evening and when you drive them out to pasture [in the morning].(6)_*

As this Surah is also called with another name Ni’am meaning blessings. The Ayah highlights how these blessing make the human life easier to sustain on this planet.‼️ This Ayah highlights the benefits and uses of livestock animals, which Allah Azzawajal has created for human beings:

1. Warm clothing and blankets: Livestock provide wool, fur, and hair, which can be used to make warm clothing and blankets.
2. Other benefits: This includes milk, labor, and transportation, among other advantages.
3. Meat: Livestock are a source of food, providing nourishment and sustenance for humans.

The next Ayah describes the psychological benefits of watching the livestock and taking care of another of Allah Azzawajal’s creation. And, in the beauty of the scene is the evidence of Allah’s existence. One can somehow explain away the creation, but can he ignore the beauty noticeable in every creation? Who is the creator of this beauty? Only those can appreciate this verse who have seen in the natural surroundings the beauty of a flock driven back by the evening or being taken out into the fields in the morning.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand and reflect how the life has been made easy and sustainable by Allah Azzawajal for us on this planet earth.‼️ Let’s appreciate and show gratitude for

1. Allah Azzawajal’s wisdom and foresight in creation.
2. The interconnectedness of human life and the natural world.
3. Gratitude and appreciation for Allah Azzawajal’s blessings and provisions.
4. Appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.
5. The importance of caring for and nurturing other creation.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability remain grateful for all the blessings through our Obedience. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Nahl – Ayah 4

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 4_*

*_”He created man from a minute quantity of semen, then behold he is clear opponent.”(4)_*

_Man’s physical origin is lowly. Yet do men go back to material things, and neglect or dispute about the highest things in Life._

_This has two meanings and both are meant here;_
_1) Though Allah created man from ‘Nutfah’ (an insignificant mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge), he is capable of arguing and giving reasons in support of his claim._
_(2) Man who has such an insignificant origin, has become so vain that he does not hesitate to dispute even with his Creator._

Allah Azzawajal mentions how man was created from nothing but a microscopic sperm, which is not even visible, and yet he grows into a creature who argues about the very being that created Him from this miniscule little drop of fluid – *he disputes about Allah SWT, HIS attributes, or any other aspect of Islam, to avoid submitting to Him* – the Creator who not just created him, but also gave him provision since day one to make him grow, acquire a physical form, then be blessed with sight, hearing, and intellect.

*_“Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him. So We gave him Hearing and Sight.” [76:2]_*

_Everything in Creation proclaims the glory of Allah Azzawajal. To man is given dominion over Nature, that man may recognise Allah’s Unity and Allah’s Truth, (Refer S16:A1-25)._

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To ponder upon our Origin, Birth and Status.‼️ It is meant to warn us that we should not forget the insignificant origin of our existence while engaged in our rebellious arguments against our Creator._
_If we remembered the different stages of our humiliating birth and growth, we would consider many times before we assumed a haughty and rebellious attitude towards our Creator._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to remain humble and Guide all of us to the Right Path._*

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 3_*

*_He created the heavens and the earth for a true purpose. Exalted be He far above the partners they ascribe to Him!(3)_*

The Ayah Affirms the oneness of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la through the great signs in the creation of the universe.‼️ *This fact mentioned here is to influence people into choosing the right course of submission to Allah Azzawajal and shun shirk.* This creation has been made *`in truth’.* _This is to refuse all the conjectural theories advanced by philosophers. The entire system of the earth and the heavens is a witness to the truth of the doctrine of Tauhid and to the negation of shirk.when we look around everything in the universe attests to the great Truth that it has a single Originator and Sustainer and that there is no room for false gods as proposed by the polytheists. Had there been more than one God, an ordered universe would have never come into existence, instead, chaotic fragments would have been flying about._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that that the heavens and the earth have not been created just for the fun of it.‼️ *This existence is not a theatrical play*. This world is not a child’s toy with which to amuse oneself as long as one wishes before crushing it to bits and throwing it away. *Creation is rather an act of great seriousness*. A great objective motivates it, and a wise purpose underlies it. Hence it has been created with *Haqq=True Purpose.* Therefore, after the lapse of a certain stage it is necessary for the Creator to take full account of the work that has been done and to use those results as the basis for the next stage.

–Let us not forget that the real subject of the Ayah is not the heavens and the earth, but us, to make us realise the purpose of human existence on earth..! *The Ayah is drawing our attention to the skies, the earth and objects, oh man, look, at the even mountains and stones that were created much lower than you are based on,* they were created for a purpose and the strange thing is that their purpose of existence is to make you fulfill your purpose of doing Ibadah to the one and the only one creator, so how could you fall into the worst sin of Shirk.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la make our Imaan stronger and give us firmness upon our religion. Aa’meen YaRabbul Aa’lameen._*
