Surah An Nahl – Ayah 3

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 3_*

*_He created the heavens and the earth for a true purpose. Exalted be He far above the partners they ascribe to Him!(3)_*

The Ayah Affirms the oneness of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la through the great signs in the creation of the universe.‼️ *This fact mentioned here is to influence people into choosing the right course of submission to Allah Azzawajal and shun shirk.* This creation has been made *`in truth’.* _This is to refuse all the conjectural theories advanced by philosophers. The entire system of the earth and the heavens is a witness to the truth of the doctrine of Tauhid and to the negation of shirk.when we look around everything in the universe attests to the great Truth that it has a single Originator and Sustainer and that there is no room for false gods as proposed by the polytheists. Had there been more than one God, an ordered universe would have never come into existence, instead, chaotic fragments would have been flying about._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that that the heavens and the earth have not been created just for the fun of it.‼️ *This existence is not a theatrical play*. This world is not a child’s toy with which to amuse oneself as long as one wishes before crushing it to bits and throwing it away. *Creation is rather an act of great seriousness*. A great objective motivates it, and a wise purpose underlies it. Hence it has been created with *Haqq=True Purpose.* Therefore, after the lapse of a certain stage it is necessary for the Creator to take full account of the work that has been done and to use those results as the basis for the next stage.

–Let us not forget that the real subject of the Ayah is not the heavens and the earth, but us, to make us realise the purpose of human existence on earth..! *The Ayah is drawing our attention to the skies, the earth and objects, oh man, look, at the even mountains and stones that were created much lower than you are based on,* they were created for a purpose and the strange thing is that their purpose of existence is to make you fulfill your purpose of doing Ibadah to the one and the only one creator, so how could you fall into the worst sin of Shirk.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la make our Imaan stronger and give us firmness upon our religion. Aa’meen YaRabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 2

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 2_*

*_He sends down the angels with His revelation by His command to whomever among His slaves He wills, saying: Proclaim that there is no god but I, so fear Me.(2)_*

The Ayah declares the absolute authority of Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la as well as HIS Grace upon the mankind.‼️ The word: *رُّوْحِ Ruh= spirit* as used in this Ayah means *Wahy (revelation)*; and according to some commentators, it means *Hidayah (guidance).* Allah Azzawajal, has not left mankind to their erring beliefs and baseless concepts, but sends down from on high what gives them life and saves them. *This is Allah Azzawajal’s greatest favour and blessing.* HE SWT not only sends down water from the sky to make the earth quicken and to give physical life, but HE SWT also sends down the angels the purest of HIS creation down to HIS chosen slaves, the prophets, giving them a message to *_Warn [mankind] that there is no deity other than Me: so fear Me_*.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the Revelation of the Qur’an is itself one of the important blessing and bounty upon Mankind from Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la. It’s emphasis is totally on Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la’s oneness, which is the central point of the Islamic faith.‼️ *It breathes life into people’s souls.* _It is also the parting point between the way which gives life and the way which destroys it. A soul that does not believe in Allah’s oneness is lost, confused, pulled in all directions by diverse and contradictory concepts and beliefs. It cannot move with its whole being towards a definite goal._

–To understand that *Prophethood is a divine gift, and Allah Azzawajal blesses only those of HIS slaves with it whom HE selects for this exalted position.* In other words, prophethood is not a thing which man can attain by his efforts, it is entirely a *‘divine gift* in attaining which man’s efforts have no place. *This declares the absolute Godhead belongs to Allah Azzawajal Alone, so only HE SWT is worthy of fear.* _Therefore, there is no other anchor that might make fast and hold together human moral system than HIS Fear. For it is the fear of HIS displeasure and HIS punishment, and the Fear of the consequences of HIS disobedience which alone can act as a strong deterrent to restrain one from deviation. That is why mankind has been admonished: *”Fear Me”*._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder upon the Qur’an and develop Taqwa and stay away from HIS prohibitions. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 1

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 1_*

*_The decree of Allah is at hand, so do not seek to hasten it. Glorified and exalted be He, far above the partners they ascribe to Him!(1)_*

The disbelievers in Makkah used to ask the Prophet SAWS to hasten their punishment in this life, or to hasten the punishment Allah Azzawajal has in store for them in the life to come.‼️ *As time passed with no punishment being inflicted, they urged the Prophet SAWS more and more to hasten it, demonstrating that they could not care less.* _They thought that Muĥammad SAWS was warning them against something that would never happen. His only aim, as they imagined, was to get them to believe what he said and accept his faith_. *They could not understand Allah Azzawajal’s wisdom in giving them time. Nor could they appreciate HIS grace.* They would not reflect on the signs HE SWT has placed everywhere in the universe around them. Nor would they reflect on His revelations in the Qur’ān which address people’s minds and hearts.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that Allah Azzawajal’s laws operate in accordance with HIS will. They cannot be hurried, nor can they be postponed to satisfy people’s wishes.‼️ _This Ayah contains a threat to the disbelievers and at the same time contains a notification to them that the punishment that will befall them and their destruction is near and will definitely come._ *Their misconception is cleared* regarding the delay in punishment is not because their creed of shirk is right or HE SWT will require some one to inflict the punishment upon them nor that their deities will intervene for them or Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la will accept their intercession. For HE SWT is pure and free from all imperfections, HE SWT is Mighty and All powerful.

–To understand that if a person is allowed to live for long he should hasten to ask for guidance and forgiveness and not for punishment, it is only those who are stubborn and arrogant who do not understand the might of Allah Azzawajal wish for the punishment to be hastened.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and grant us the ability constantly seek guidance and forgiveness from HIM. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

A brief introduction to Surah Nahl

*_A Brief Introduction to Surah 16 An-Nahl_*

It is the Sixteenth chapter of the Qur’an. This Surah has been called *_Al-Nahl,_* that is, the *_Honey bee_* because it mentions it as a unique Divine marvel. It is named after the bee mentioned in Ayat 68 and 69. The Surah depicts Allah Azzawajal’s creative power. Everything in the universe points to Allah Azzawajal and is in perfect balance. Another name for this Surah is Surah Al-Ni`am. (Qurtubi) The word Ni’am is the plural of Ni’mah (blessing) because the great blessings of Allah Ta’ ala have been particularly mentioned in this Surah.

*_Period of Revelation:_* Makkan Period during the third stage of the Prophet Muhammad’s(SAWS ) mission when the persecution was at its peak. The persecution from the unbelievers had forced some Muslims to migrate to Habsha.

*_Central Theme_*

All the topics of the Surah revolve round different aspects of the Message, ie., refutation of shirk, proof of Tauhid, and warning of the consequences of the rejection of and opposition and antagonism to the Message.
This Surah presents very convincing proofs of Tawhid and refutation of shirk based on plain signs in the universe and in man’s own creation. It answers the objections of the disbelievers, refutes their arguments and removes their doubts. It gives warning about the consequences of persisting in false ways. It presents moral changes needed in practical human life. It told the mushrikin that the belief in Allah, which they also professed, demanded that it should not be confined merely to lip service, but be exhibited in moral and practical life. Finally, it provided guidance to the Prophet and his companions about the attitude that they should adopt in facing antagonism and persecution by the disbelievers.

*Overall Message:* Surah An-Nahl emphasizes the importance of faith, morality, and accountability, while highlighting Allah Azzawajal’s power, wisdom, and mercy.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and grant us the ability to ponder, reflect and take benefit from its Message. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 98 & 99

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 98 & 99_*

*_”So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate (to Him)”(98)_*

*_”And worship your Lord until the certainty (i.e., the death) comes to you.”(99)_*

These are the last Ayat of Surah Al-Hijr.‼️ _We should glorify our Lord with His praise, and fall in prostration before Him. And worship our Lord until the certainty comes to us. The acts of worship, such as prayer and the like, are obligatory on man as long as his mind is sound, so he should pray according to his best ability._

_That is Salat and worship of our Lord are the only means which can generate in us that power of sustenance which is required to stand resolutley against the troubles and afflictions we will inevitably encounter in the propagation of the Message of the Truth and reform of humanity._

*_Act for the Day is:_* _To read S15:A85 to 99 for complete understanding of the revelation/ruling._ _Its a reminder of the Blessing Of the the Qur’an and the Command to focus on it’s Message._

_Proclaiming the truth of this faith of Islam and making clear all of its components and requirements are a necessary part of its advocacy.‼️. Let’s understand that, though this ayah being addressed to Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) but applies to all of us. This will comfort us, fill us with courage and enable us to perform that Divine Mission on which our Prophet was sent in the times of abuse, derision and obstacles._

_We shall worship/glorify our Lord with His Praise, and fall in Prostration before Him, until the Hour – that is certain (i.e., the death) comes to us._

_This is the end of the commentary on Surah al-Hijr. All praise and thanks are for Allah Azzawajal, and may the blessings and peace of Allah Azzawajal be upon Prophet Muhammad SAWS his family, and his Companions abundantly until the Day of Judgement._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to steadfast upon Tawheed and grant us help in each and every step towards proclaiming the truth. Aameen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen_*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 96 & 97

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 96 & 97_*

*_Those who set up another god beside Allah; but they will come to know.(96)_*

*_We know you are distressed by what they say.(97)_*

This Ayah 96 warns those who associate partners with Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la (polytheists) that they will eventually come to realise the truth and face the consequences of their actions soon.‼️ _Allah Azzawajal explained that just as they offended His Messenger SAWS they also offended Allah Azzawajal by setting up beside Him another god when HE SWT alone is their Lord, Creator and Controller. They think that they have the authority to appoint a god by giving an attribute or perfection that belongs to Allah Azzawajal to an object, a person, or anything abstract or concrete other than Allah Azzawajal, and they are not aware of this. They will soon understand the ugly thing of attributing a partner to Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la._

The Prophet SAWS is a human being who cannot help but be distressed when he hears people ascribing divinity to beings other than Allah Azzawajal, or deriding his message. He is eager to defend the truth and his message, and is upset at all the falsehood and idolatry around him. Therefore he is encouraged by Allah Azzawajal to focus upon his mission and HIS remembrance. As Allah Azzawajal says in Surah Al-An’am
*_We certainly know that what they say grieves you ˹O Prophet˺. It is not your honesty they question—it is Allah’s signs that the wrongdoers deny.(6:33)_*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that a Da’ee who tries to call society to follow the path of truth must not be afraid of the sneers, insults and ridicule of opponents of the truth.‼️Those who insist on continuing their wrong attitude will one day realise the error of their attitude, but regret will no longer be useful.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to remain patient and to stick upon our mission with perseverance. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 94 & 95

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 94 & 95_*

*_Therefore proclaim what you are commanded to, and turn away from those who ascribe partners to Allah.(94)_*

*_Verily, We will suffice you against those who ridicule you,(95)_*

The Ayat addresses and encourages the Prophet SAWS to continue with spreading the Message of Tawheed and not to get bothered by the opponents and the idolators.‼️ Before the revelation of the Ayah 94 the Noble Prophet SAWS and his noble companions(RA) used to make Salah and recite Qur’an secretly lest they are seen and harmed. The process of passing on the religious message to others and the mission of teaching and training was also kept secret being limited to a counted few. The reason was that doing so openly would have given the disbelievers the opportunity to bring harm to them. The word *إصدع Isda* which means to reveal, obey, scatter. All the meaning of إصدع is related to da’wah because the da’wah needs to reveal the truth, obey the instructions of Allah ‎ﷻ to convey to people and scatter all over the earth to convey da’wah. It also means to take a solid stand.

The next instruction is not to get feel weak or saddened by unbelief of an idolater or the ridicule of those who deride his message. Allah ﷻ will protect him against these. Allah ﷻ Himself takes the responsibility of seeing that they stay safe against those who deride their faith and bring harm to them. And HE SWT did indeed do that, for no one openly ridiculed the Messenger of Allah(SAWS) and the message he brought but Allah SWT destroyed him and caused him to die in the worst manner. Therefore, from that time onwards, the mission was pursued openly and publicly in all its aspects, recitation of the Qur’an, acts of worship, the call, the propagation, everything.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that however polytheistic and idolatrous the environment may be, the men of faith should not hesitate in presenting the dawah of religion and its teachings, and they should not at all pay any heed to them, however distasteful it would be to the polytheists and the infidels.‼️ *This event provides a guideline in matters of Tabligh and Da’wah.* _In places and under circumstances where a worker in the way of Allahﷻ sees no good coming out of saying what is true and right openly, rather apprehends harm coming to him in doing so, then, under such conditions, doing so secretly is also correct and permissible. However, when there is the option and ability to proclaim things openly, then, no delay should be made in taking a public stance._

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to remain adhered to Tawheed and help us in spreading the Message of Tawheed. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 92 & 93

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 92 & 93_*

*_So, by your Lord, We will surely question them all(92)._*

*_About what they used to do.(93)_*

These Ayat describe the certainty of accountability of each and every human being.‼️ Abu Jafar reported from Ar-Rabi that Abu Al-Aliyah said, *“All the people will be asked about two things on the Day of Resurrection: what they used to worship, and what their response was to the Messengers.”* (At-Tabari 17:150) Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that Ibn Abbas said, _“So, by your Lord, We shall certainly call all of them to account. For all that they used to do.” then he said: “So on that Day no question will be asked of man or Jinn as to his sin” (55:39). He said, “They will not be asked, ‘Did you do such and such?’ Because Allah Azzawajal knows better than they do about that. But HE will say, *Why did you do such and such?”* (At-Tabari 17:150)_

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the seriousness of the Day of reckoning as Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la takes an oath by HIMSELF, which depicts the greatness and sanctity of the Day of judgement.‼️ _Let nobody think that since they claim to believe in Allah Azzawajal and HIS Book and will find a escape rather every one of us will be asked about fulfillment of the word_ *_La Ilaaha Illallah (the word of Tawheed)_* because this is the most important word. Have we fulfilled it with reason, conversation and also practice.? This is because as far as mentioning it, even the Hypocrites also mention it, but do they fulfill the obligation on the word? Lest we should reason are we falling into that category.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to perform always the good and nothing but the good and make us die upon Islam. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen_*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 90 & 91

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 90 & 91_*

*_Like [the punishment] that We sent down upon the discriminators,(90)_*

*_Those who break the Qur’an into different parts.(91)_*

The Ayah warns the disbelievers among the Quraysh who kept on opposing the teachings of the Qur’an by calling it with various names such as poetry, magic, folk tales of ancient times, dictated by Muhammad(SAWS), and so on.‼️ The commentators have different opinions about what is meant by the word *“Al-muqtasimin” (the one who divides).* The first opinion interprets Al-muqtasimin as the disbelievers who have sworn that Allah will not raise the dead.
*_They swear by Allah their most solemn oaths that Allah will never raise the dead to life. Yes ˹He will˺! It is a true promise binding on Him, but most people do not know.(16:38)_*
The second opinion is that _”those who divide” the book of Allah SWT, that is, reduce, exchange, and add to the content of the book of Allah SWT that has been revealed to His messengers._
*_Do you believe in part of the Book (Torah) and disbelieve in part?… (Al-Baqarah/2: 85)_*

The third opinion is of those who call the Qur’an with different names such as those of the disbelievers in Quraysh.
*_Then he said, “This (Al-Qur’an) is only magic learned (from the ancients). (Al-Muddatstsir/74: 24)._*

The word *عِضينَ* means to divide into parts, separate parts, fragments, lies, slander. The Jews had made the Torah into pieces” means that they believed in certain parts of it and rejected other parts and detracted some things from it and added others to it. *They had also had split their religion into many parts and caused division in it.* Thus they had been divided into many sectarian groups, which were opposed to one another.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the sign of a True believer is that he accepts whole of the Qur’an as a command from HIS Lord and enters the religion completely and practices it whole heartedly.‼️ Paying attention to some verses of the Qur’an and ignoring others is an attitude that is scorned by the Allah Azzawajal and hence the warning *_Do you feel safe by this attitude of discrimination?_*

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to enter into Islam in toto and save us from HIS anger and punishments. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 88 & 89

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 88 & 89_*

*_”Do not extend your eyes towards what We have bestowed to (certain) categories of them, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers”.(88)_*

*_”And say, Indeed, I am a clear Warner.”(89)_*

The Ayat describes the immense blessings of Surah Fatiha bestowed upon the believers which is the guidance to the right path and it cannot be compared and valued with any amount of worldly wealth.‼️ *Therefore, Allah SWT warns believers not to feel discouraged and sad about the worldly pleasures that HE SWT has given to the unbelievers.* It is not fitting for a person to divert his attention from something noble and of high value to something of lesser value, especially if the worldly pleasures are obtained in a way that is not permitted by Allah Azzawajal.

All these are temporary pleasures, then they will be put into the blazing fire of hell. As Allah Azzawajal says in Surah Taha

*_Do not let your eyes crave what We have allowed some of the disbelievers to enjoy; the ˹fleeting˺ splendour of this worldly life, which We test them with. But your Lord’s provision ˹in the Hereafter˺ is far better and more lasting.(20:131)_*

Allah SWT forbade Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him not to grieve over the infidels who did not heed his call. This prohibition of Allah Azzawajal is because the Prophet SAWS hoped that all people would believe and hoped that the unbelievers would not suffer the punishment of Allah Azzawajal in the afterlife.

Allah Azzawajal’s prohibition also reminded the Prophet SAWS that his task was only to convey HIS religion and warn the people of consequences and not to force people to believe.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the Great Value of the Qur’an which has been bestowed by Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la.‼️ Let us understand the importance of this spiritual blessings as compared to the worldly pleasures. Let’s try to give the Qur’an it’s due it deserves and get benefitted by the guidance it provides and get healing from our imperfections.

–The famous hadith of the Prophet SAWS which appears in Sahih works including a part of it in Bukhari as chapter-heading:

*ليس منا من لم يتغنى بالقرآن*

In this Hadīth, the Prophet SAWS urged us to recite the Qur’an with a melodious voice. The Arabic word *”yataghanna”*, as mentioned in the Hadith, has two possible meanings:
1). The one who does not make his *voice melodious* when reciting the Qur’an is not someone following our path and guidance.
2.) *The one who does not suffice with the Qur’an, seeking guidance elsewhere, is not one of us*. _Without a doubt, whoever seeks guidance in anything other than the Qur’an, Allah will lead him astray; We seek refuge with Allah Azzawajal. *Hence, the Hadīth shows that a Muslim should recite the Qur’an with a melodious voice and find sufficiency in it from anything else.*

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to remain focused upon the Deen and save us from all form of worldly distractions. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
