Surah Nahl – Ayah 39 & 40

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayat 39 & 40_*

*_[They will be raised up] so that He may make clear to them that concerning which they differ, and so that those who disbelieved may realise that they were lying.(39)_*

*_When We will something, We merely say to it, ‘Be!’ and it is.(40)_*

The Ayah elaborates the purpose of resurrection.‼️The Day of Resurrection will clear the way *rationally* as *Resurrection will resolve disputes and doubts.* it will make it clear to everyone about the thing which was right or wrong as many people differed about the truth of the Books and the sending of the Messengers Alahis salam from Allah Azzawajal and *Resurrection is also a moral requirement.* _A great many people have been party to differences… Some of them were oppressors and wrong-doers while others were victims of oppression and wrong-doing. Some people made sacrifices while others subjected them to these sacrifices. In addition, everyone adopted according to his likes, a moral philosophy and attitude which affects – for good or bad – the lives of billions, even trillions of other human beings. Now, a time must come when the moral consequences of these attitudes should be visible in the form of reward or punishment. If the present world is not so constituted that the true and full moral consequences of man’s actions can become apparent, then there must be another world to ensure that this is so._ This is the obvious demand of justice and fairplay, therefore, the news about revival is not unreasonable, but it is absolutely reasonable.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that when Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la wills something, HE SWT merely commands “Be!” and the thing comes into existence. For such an Almighty Being, reviving of the mankind is not at all difficult.‼️ *The fact is that man is very narrow-minded, he measures Allah Azzawajal’s might by his own parameters, and considers only what exists as possible.* He is not prepared to accept the possibility of existence of a non-present thing, even though the intimation of its coming into existence is being given by the Creator of the Universe.

–Let’s understand and realise Allah Azzawajal’s authority and creative power and our responsibility of submitting to the Divine authority as we all will be held accountable for our deeds. Let’s make an effort to improvise and get a better score card in the hereafter.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to remain firm upon Deen and shower HIS special Mercy upon all the believers on the Day of judgement. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 38

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 38_*

*_They swear their most solemn oaths by Allah that Allah will not raise up those who die. Nay, it is a promise by which He is bound, but most people do not realise.(38)_*

The Ayah depicts one more reason of the disbelievers for rejecting the call of the Messengerﷺ.‼️ *They swore by the name of Allahﷻ with a serious attitude and they remained stubborn in not wanting to believe that the Day of Resurrection would occur after this worldly life.* _They acknowledged Allahﷻ as their creator and they were swearing with HIS name yet they were associating idols in HIS worship._ They didn’t wanted accountability of their deeds so as to let their desires get fulfilled irrespective of whether it was lawful or unlawful. *They considered such resurrection to be impossible after bodies have decomposed, organs separated and molecules are scattered everywhere.* They overlook the miraculous nature of life how it begins within womb in the first place, hence *Allahﷻ corrects their misconception with a assertion that When HEﷻ makes a promise, then that promise is fulfilled without fail even though most people do not know it.* People are rarely aware of the true nature of a promise made by Allahﷻ.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the true nature of Allahﷻ’s power and the fact that it cannot be compared with that of human beings or their abilities.‼️ *We should realise that to bring anything into existence does not trouble Allahﷻ in any way, and does not place any burden whatsoever on HIS power.* It is sufficient for HIM to decide to bring something into existence for that thing to exist.

–To understand that Allah’sﷻ purpose behind resurrection:- *The fact is that nothing reaches its fullness in this life*. People differ on truth and falsehood, right and error, good and evil, etc. Their differences and disputes cannot be settled or reach the right conclusion in this life on earth. It is a matter of Allah’sﷻ will that some of them live long, and that they are not held to account for their deeds during this life. Thus, reward and punishment are administered in the hereafter when everything reaches its fullness.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and save us from getting mislead and going astray. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 37.

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 37_*

*_Though you [O Prophet] may be eager for them to be guided, Allah does not guide those whom He leaves to go astray, and they will have no helpers.(37)_*

The Ayah addresses and consoles the Prophetﷺ who was more concerned and eager about the people to accept the right guidance.‼️ *As a Messenger, he was aware of the consequences of rejecting the truth and its final abode, hence he hoped that all his people would accept the truth so as to not to liable for the punishment. Heﷺ was very sad when most of the people rejected his preachings. Heﷺ had been working hard day and night, meeting them openly or secretly but still all his efforts were not bearing the fruit as he was expecting.* The word *تَحرِص* means *to desire eagerly.* So Allah ﷻ reminded the Prophet ﷺ not to worry and feel sorry for himself because many of his people do not want to believe.

As Allahﷻ says in Surah Kahf Ayah 6

*_Now, perhaps you ˹O Prophet˺ will grieve yourself to death over their denial, if they ˹continue to˺ disbelieve in this message.(18:6)_*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the limits of human efforts in convincing people to right path and divine decree in providing guidance.‼️ People’s acceptance of divine guidance is not the result of the Prophet’sﷺ deliberations and efforts. This is not his task. His mission is only to deliver the message Allahﷻ gave him. Guidance and error are subject to Allahﷻ law which never fails, bringing the same results every time. *Whoever deserves to remain in error according to Allahﷻ law shall not receive HIS guidance.* That is because of the operation of the laws HEﷻ has set in nature. This is HIS will which is always done. Hence, “they shall have none to support them.” Besides, who can help them against Allahﷻ?

–To realise and fulfil our responsibility of giving Dawah to the people and concern for their guidance. We should understand our limitations as a human and the importance of Tawakkul in the matters of Dawah as some stubborn defiants cannot be convinced so their matter should be left to Allahﷻ.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to understand our responsibility as a believer and ease the path. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 36

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 36_*

*_Indeed We sent to every nation a Messenger [saying]: Worship Allah [alone] and shun false gods. Among them were some whom Allah guided, and some for whom misguidance became inevitable. So travel through the land and see what was the fate of the deniers.(36)_*

This Ayah describes the Grace of Allahﷻ in guiding the Mankind to Tawheed.‼️Here Allahﷻ refuted the claims of the disbelievers who showed excuses in committing the sins saying that it is the will of Allahﷻ for HE SWT said _”We sent Messengers to every ummat, who told the people in plain words that they should worship Us and none else, and should not follow and obey taghut.”_

Whenever a Messenger came to a people, they were divided into two groups.

(1) Those who accepted the message (and that, too, could not have been possible except with the will of Allahﷻ).

(2) Those who rejected it and stuck to their deviation.

Neither party has broken away from HIS will for HE SWT did not compel them to follow one way or the other. Each group chose the way for itself after having been given sufficient guidance to distinguish between truth and error. Such guidance is placed within man himself and is also made available everywhere in the universe around him.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that word *طَّاغُوْتَ ۚ Taghut,* which here means *false Gods*. *The message brought by every Messenger of Allahﷻ was to shun idolatry which has been a great means of rebellion against Allahﷻ, and the dawah of every messenger had been that his followers should worship only Allahﷻ.* _The word taghut is taken from the word تغيان which means beyond the limit that is everything that violates the boundaries of a servant whether worshiped, or followed, or obeyed._

So taghut is divided into 3 types:

1. *The worshiped*. Everything that is worshiped other than Allah ﷻ.

2. *Which is followed.* Everything that is followed is contrary to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah.

3. *The obeyed.* Everything that is obeyed that violates the command of Allahﷻ and His Messenger.

So taghut is applicable to Satan and to the false gods, to the rebel human leaders and chiefs, and also to those who legislate against the divine law, and those rulers who give judgments according to their own self-made laws as against the divine laws.

Let’s reflect upon the historical records by turning pages to see the fate of the deniers, who rejected the message for they incurred the scourge of Allahﷻ like Pharaoh and his followers , while Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) received the blessings of Allahﷻ.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and save us from following and shunning all forms of Taghut. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 35

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 35_*

*_Those who ascribe partners to Allah say: If Allah had so willed, we would not have worshipped anything besides Him – neither we nor our fathers – and we would not have declared anything forbidden without His sanction. Likewise did those who came before them. Is the duty of the Messengers anything other than conveying the message in the clearest way?(35)_*

The Ayah describes the flawed logic of those who ascribe partners to Allahﷻ , blaming Allahﷻ for their own choices.‼️ They lay on Allah’sﷻ will the blame for all their own and their forefathers deviant beliefs, their worship of false deities, as also for their misguided concepts leading them to prohibit what Allahﷻ had made lawful without any clear authority from HIM. They allege that none of them would have done anything of the sort, had Allahﷻ willed to prevent it. *These are mere excuses for avoiding the responsibility of accepting the truth.* Such excuses and such arguments were also proffered by some nations in the past. The shifting of responsibility of their own waywardness and wrong-doing on to Allahﷻ is the work of those who are not at all serious or sober. So their basing their justification on the divine will and decree was utter falsehood. Moreover, everyone realises, on the basis of his common sense, that man is able to do whatever he wants, without anyone stopping him. *So they combined disbelief in Allahﷻ and HIS Messengers with rejection of the conclusion that was based on rational thinking and common sense.*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that Allahﷻ, the Creator, the Wise, has willed that human beings should have an equal propensity either to follow HIS guidance or to go astray, and that their choice of which way to follow should be completely free.‼️ *HE SWT has also given them reason and intellect in order to be able to determine which way to choose.* HE SWT has placed in the universe numerous pointers to guidance, and these signs are there for them to see, hear, sense and feel wherever they turn at any moment of the night or day, leading their minds to the right conclusion. Out of HIS grace, which He gives in abundance, Allahﷻ has not left HIS servants to make their choice only on the basis of their reasoning. He has given in His laws, which were outlined by His messengers, a clear and constant standard for people to follow when they need guidance.

— To understand
1. The dangers of shirk (polytheism) and its flawed justifications.
2. The significance of free will and personal responsibility.
3. Personal accountability for one’s beliefs and actions.
4. The importance of clear guidance and revelation.
5. The Messengers’ role in conveying truth, not imposing faith.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the true understanding of the Deen and save us from falling into shirk and deviations. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 34

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 34_*

*_The evil consequences of their deeds overtook them, and the very thing [punishment] they used to ridicule overwhelmed them.(34)_*

This Ayah is a sobering reminder of the consequences of one’s actions.‼️ *It highlights the ultimate fate of those who mocked and rejected the truth.* The sins they committed before while in the world will be repaid to them. Now the sin is not visible, but in the afterlife, it will be a creature that will attack the perpetrator.

They cannot blame anyone because what will be imposed on them is the result of their own hands (deeds). This is as Allah ﷻ has told in Shura: 30

*_And whatever befalls you from a hardship (or calamity), then it is because of what you do (from wrong and sinful actions);_*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that Evil deeds lead to evil outcomes.‼️ *People are not punished with anything other than the natural consequences of their own actions.* _These are the very things which sink them to a degree lower than that of human beings. Hence they are punished with something lower than what is fitting for humans. They endure a humiliating abode and painful suffering. *In the life of this world they did not believe in the punishment that was threatened to them.* They said “where is the punishment?” In the afterlife, the punishment they mocked before will surround and fall upon them. They can’t run anywhere anymore. When they were alive in this world , they did not believe in punishment and the guardian angels, staying in hell, the Zaqqum tree, the river of pus, and so on,all these just became the fruit of their mockery. Now they are in Jahannam, all around to the left, to the right looking at nothing but the hell._

Let’s remind ourselves the

1. The importance of accountability and responsibility.
2. The dangers of mockery and rejection of truth.
3. Allah’s justice and the law of retribution.
4. The importance of humility and openness to guidance.
5. The ultimate triumph of truth and justice.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect to take measures to avoid from getting HIS displeasure and wrath. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 33

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 33_*

*_Are they [the disbelievers] waiting for the angels to come to them, or for the decree of your Lord to come to pass? Likewise did those who came before them. It is not Allah Who wronged them, but it was they who wronged themselves.(33)_*

This Ayah addresses the disbelievers, highlighting their impending reckoning.‼️ *It admonishes the disbelievers as to Why are they still hesitating to accept the message which is very simple and clear*❓ _We have tried every method to present each aspect of the truth clearly with arguments and brought witnesses thereof from the whole system of the universe, and have left no room for any man of understanding to stick to shirk. Now what are they waiting for is nothing more than this that the angel of death should come before them and then they will accept the message at the last moment of their lives. Or, do they wait for the scourge of Allah Azzawajal to overtake them and make them accept the Message?_

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the entire mankind was created to worship Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la, so that they might attain HIS pleasure and admittance to paradise.‼️ *But it is they wronged themselves and abandoned the purpose for which they were created, and exposed themselves to permanent humiliation and eternal misery.* _The attitude of human beings is amazing. They see what happened to people of earlier generations who followed the same course they follow. But they do not take heed. They do not believe that what happened to earlier communities can happen to them. They do not realize that the laws of nature operate in accordance with a well defined pattern, and that premises lead to their natural conclusions, actions receive their just reward, and Allah Azzawajal’s law will not be suspended to appease anyone._

–To understand that it is not Allah Azzawajal who wronged them, but it was they who wronged themselves.❗ Allahﷻ has given the entire Mankind the freedom of thought and choice. HE SWT has sent the guidance to the mankind through HIS Messengers and HIS Books from time to time and HE SWT has shown us all HIS signs placed in the universe around us and within our own souls, warning us against the consequences of our actions. HE SWT then left us to choose and to bear the consequences of our own doings in accordance with HIS laws. Thus HE SWT has not wronged us in any way. Their fate is a case of action rebounding on the perpetrator.

_Let’s remind ourselves that; *when we shut out the truth of Allah Azzawajal, we wrong our own souls,  and by so doing, we cause our own loss.*_

May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la continue to bestow us with guidance and save us from going astray. Aameen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen.

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 32

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 32_*

*_Those whose souls the angels take [in death] in a state of purity, saying [to them]: Peace be upon you; enter paradise as a reward for your deeds.(32)_*

The Ayah paints a serene picture of the souls who are welcomed by the angels in death.‼️ *These souls are pure and free of any shortcomings or impurity that could reach them and undermine their faith.* _Their hearts are content with knowing and loving Allah, their tongues constantly remember and praise Him, and their physical faculties are constantly focused on acts of obedience and turning to HIM._ When the angels of death reach them, they greet such pious souls with salutations of “Peace be upon you”, a sign of respect, welcome and security from worries. And inform them of the reward which is nothing short of entry into Jannah, a result of their good deeds.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand the word *tayyib* which means those who are clean from all kinds of dirt and pollution or ‘spiritual impurity’ and are decorated with virtues and positive attributes.‼️ _The word *Tatawaff ahum meaning that ‘they will receive their soul’,* signifies the fact that death does not mean ‘mortality’ and nothingness or the end of every thing. On the contrary, it is only a transit or a passing stage which paves the way for climbing up the ladder and going up to another stage._

Let’s remind ourselves

1. The afterlife and the soul’s journey.
2. The significance of living a virtuous life.
3. The mercy and compassion of Allah Azzawajal towards the righteous.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us a life and also our ending upon Imaan. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 31

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 31_*

*_Gardens of perpetual abode, which they will enter, through which rivers flow. There they will have all that they wish for. Thus does Allah reward those who fear Him,(31)_*

This Ayah describes the Jannah and it’s limitless bounties which the pious will be bestowed with.‼️The meaning of *عَدنٍ Eden* is *eternal* It is a *permanent place* of residence and with huge resources they will have comforts and luxuries in abundance. _They will not be able to ask for any kind of joy that would bring them delight and immense pleasure, but it will be granted to them. Hence Allahﷻ will give the people of paradise all that they wish for, to the extent that HE SWT will even prompt them to ask for some kinds of joy that never crossed their minds._ Allah ﷻ always mentions the river when talking about heaven. Every one of us usually loves to have his residence near some river , sea or pool. It is a delight to have a abode near water sources.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to realise the eternal and limitless reward for Obedience to HIS commands and refraining from HIS prohibitions.‼️ The dweller will get there whatever he will desire and wish and there will be nothing at all to offend him. *This is the blessing that has never been attained even by the richest and the most powerful people in this world.*

—To understand that the real suffering of man is that what he wants he does not always get, and it is impossible in this world that man may always get everything that he wants; not even the greatest king in this world could get his every wish fulfilled.❗ *If it were so, this world would become Paradise. But Allahﷻ has not created this world for this purpose, and therefore, it would be absolutely wrong for any person to expect the fulfillment of his every wish.* _For this purpose, HE SWT has created Paradise in the next world, the very definition of which is that every wish of the entrants therein will be fulfilled and their every want will be met. It is the last word for the most desirable and the most desired thing._ Thus does Allahﷻ reward those who fear HIM and fear HIS wrath and punishment by fulfilling what HE SWT has enjoined upon them of obligatory beliefs, actions and words having to do with HIS rights and the rights of HIS slaves, and by refraining from that which HE SWT has prohibited to them.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us ability to fulfill HIS commands by enjoining all that is Good and refraining from HIS prohibitions and grant us Jannah in the Hereafter. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*

Surah An Nahl – Ayah 30

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 30_*

*_But when it is said to those who fear Allah: What has your Lord sent down? they say: All that is good. For those who do good, there is good [reward] in this world, and the abode of the hereafter is better, and how excellent is the abode of those who fear Allah,(30)_*

The Ayah describes the response of the pious to the enquiries made by the visitors of Makkah regarding the Prophet SAWS and the Qur’an.‼️ In contrast to the disbelievers who described the Qur’an as a *”ancient tales”(16:24)* the righteous believers spoke highly of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and of the teachings of the Quran. Unlike the former they did not delude the people nor created misunderstandings in the minds. The *Muttaqun* realise that the very essence of the divine message and all that Allah Azzawajal has revealed of directives, commandments and laws is good and perfect. Hence they sum it up in a word: *_“All that is good.”_* _These pious accepted and welcomed that blessing of the Qur’an and its teachings, they submitted to Allah Azzawajal and gave thanks to HIM for it, then they learned it and acted in accordance with it. For them Allah SWT rewards them with abundance in this world with lot of provisions, satisfaction , peace of mind , security and khair in all of their affairs. Moreover, it emphasises the fact that: *their abode in Hereafter is even better than their worldly life.* What a nice place it is the residence of those who are pious._

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the whole of the Qur’an is a call to do Good and nothing but the Good.‼️ *Hence those who follow the teachings of Qur’an will get only Good.* The Qur’an encourages the believers to reach the stage of becoming *Muhsin* by the performance of *Ihsan*. Such are those they always do Good with the injunctions of their Lord and show goodness to their fellow beings.
From Shuhaib(RA), he said, Rasulullah ﷺ said,

“Strange is the affair of the believer! Indeed, his affair, entirely, is good. And
that is not for anyone except the believer. If something good happens to him, he is grateful, and there is good for him; but if something bad happens to him, he is patient, and there is good for him.”
(Sahih Muslim No. 2999)

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder upon the Ayat of the Qur’an and doers of the Good. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
