Surah An Nahl – Ayah 35

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 35_*

*_Those who ascribe partners to Allah say: If Allah had so willed, we would not have worshipped anything besides Him – neither we nor our fathers – and we would not have declared anything forbidden without His sanction. Likewise did those who came before them. Is the duty of the Messengers anything other than conveying the message in the clearest way?(35)_*

The Ayah describes the flawed logic of those who ascribe partners to Allahﷻ , blaming Allahﷻ for their own choices.‼️ They lay on Allah’sﷻ will the blame for all their own and their forefathers deviant beliefs, their worship of false deities, as also for their misguided concepts leading them to prohibit what Allahﷻ had made lawful without any clear authority from HIM. They allege that none of them would have done anything of the sort, had Allahﷻ willed to prevent it. *These are mere excuses for avoiding the responsibility of accepting the truth.* Such excuses and such arguments were also proffered by some nations in the past. The shifting of responsibility of their own waywardness and wrong-doing on to Allahﷻ is the work of those who are not at all serious or sober. So their basing their justification on the divine will and decree was utter falsehood. Moreover, everyone realises, on the basis of his common sense, that man is able to do whatever he wants, without anyone stopping him. *So they combined disbelief in Allahﷻ and HIS Messengers with rejection of the conclusion that was based on rational thinking and common sense.*

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that Allahﷻ, the Creator, the Wise, has willed that human beings should have an equal propensity either to follow HIS guidance or to go astray, and that their choice of which way to follow should be completely free.‼️ *HE SWT has also given them reason and intellect in order to be able to determine which way to choose.* HE SWT has placed in the universe numerous pointers to guidance, and these signs are there for them to see, hear, sense and feel wherever they turn at any moment of the night or day, leading their minds to the right conclusion. Out of HIS grace, which He gives in abundance, Allahﷻ has not left HIS servants to make their choice only on the basis of their reasoning. He has given in His laws, which were outlined by His messengers, a clear and constant standard for people to follow when they need guidance.

— To understand
1. The dangers of shirk (polytheism) and its flawed justifications.
2. The significance of free will and personal responsibility.
3. Personal accountability for one’s beliefs and actions.
4. The importance of clear guidance and revelation.
5. The Messengers’ role in conveying truth, not imposing faith.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the true understanding of the Deen and save us from falling into shirk and deviations. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
