Surah An Nahl – Ayah 36

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 36_*

*_Indeed We sent to every nation a Messenger [saying]: Worship Allah [alone] and shun false gods. Among them were some whom Allah guided, and some for whom misguidance became inevitable. So travel through the land and see what was the fate of the deniers.(36)_*

This Ayah describes the Grace of Allahﷻ in guiding the Mankind to Tawheed.‼️Here Allahﷻ refuted the claims of the disbelievers who showed excuses in committing the sins saying that it is the will of Allahﷻ for HE SWT said _”We sent Messengers to every ummat, who told the people in plain words that they should worship Us and none else, and should not follow and obey taghut.”_

Whenever a Messenger came to a people, they were divided into two groups.

(1) Those who accepted the message (and that, too, could not have been possible except with the will of Allahﷻ).

(2) Those who rejected it and stuck to their deviation.

Neither party has broken away from HIS will for HE SWT did not compel them to follow one way or the other. Each group chose the way for itself after having been given sufficient guidance to distinguish between truth and error. Such guidance is placed within man himself and is also made available everywhere in the universe around him.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that word *طَّاغُوْتَ ۚ Taghut,* which here means *false Gods*. *The message brought by every Messenger of Allahﷻ was to shun idolatry which has been a great means of rebellion against Allahﷻ, and the dawah of every messenger had been that his followers should worship only Allahﷻ.* _The word taghut is taken from the word تغيان which means beyond the limit that is everything that violates the boundaries of a servant whether worshiped, or followed, or obeyed._

So taghut is divided into 3 types:

1. *The worshiped*. Everything that is worshiped other than Allah ﷻ.

2. *Which is followed.* Everything that is followed is contrary to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah.

3. *The obeyed.* Everything that is obeyed that violates the command of Allahﷻ and His Messenger.

So taghut is applicable to Satan and to the false gods, to the rebel human leaders and chiefs, and also to those who legislate against the divine law, and those rulers who give judgments according to their own self-made laws as against the divine laws.

Let’s reflect upon the historical records by turning pages to see the fate of the deniers, who rejected the message for they incurred the scourge of Allahﷻ like Pharaoh and his followers , while Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) received the blessings of Allahﷻ.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la strengthen our Imaan and save us from following and shunning all forms of Taghut. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
