English Translation of Al-Quran

[29].Surah Al-Ankabut [The Spider]

Ayat 16. And (remember) Ibrahim (Abraham) when he said to his people: “Worship Allah (Alone), and fear Him, that is better for you if you did but know.

Ayat 17. “You worship besides Allah only idols, and you only invent falsehood. Verily, those whom you worship besides Allah have no power to give you provision, so seek your provision from Allah (Alone), and worship Him (Alone), and be grateful to Him. To Him (Alone) you will be brought back.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Ankabut (The Spider) Ayat 16 & 17. And (We also saved) Abraham: behold, he said to his people, “Serve Allah and fear Him: that will be best for you- If ye understand! The story of Abraham has been told in various phases in different passages. The ones most germane to the present passage are: 21:51-72 (his being cast into the fire and being saved from it); and 19:41 -50 (his voluntary exile from the home of his father’s). Here the story is not told but is referred to in order to stress the following points; (1) Abraham’s people only responded to his preaching by threatening to burn him (29:16-18, 24); (2) evil consorts with evil but will have a rude awakening (29:25); (3) the good adhere to the good, and are blessed (29:26-27). Note that the passage 29:19-23 is a parenthetical comment, though some Commentators treat a portion of it as part of Abraham’s speech. “For ye do worship idols besides Allah, and ye invent falsehood. The things that ye worship besides Allah have no power to give you sustenance: then seek ye Sustenance from Allah, serve Him, and be grateful to Him: to Him will be your return. Sustenance: in the symbolic as well as the literal sense. Seek from Allah all that is necessary for your upkeep and development, and for preparing you for your future Destiny. Lay all your hopes in Him and in no one else. Dedicate yourselves to His worship. He will give you all that is necessary for your growth and wellbeing, and you should show your gratitude to Him by confirming your will entirely to Him.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) was asked, “Which deed is the best?” He [SAWW](PBUH) replied, “Faith in Allah and His Messenger.” He [SAWW](PBUH) was asked, “What is next?” He (PBUH) replied, “Jihad (holy fighting) in the Cause of Allah.” Then he was asked: “What is after that (in goodness)?” He [SAWW](PBUH) replied, “Hajj Mabrur (which is accepted by Allah).”

[Al-Bukhari Book 01, Chapter 02, Hadith # 25]

Lesson: as mentioned above Hadith “Different acts have been regarded more meritorious in different Hadith. For this reason, some scholars have performed the justification that the word mun “whoever” is the keynote in such cases. That is, such and such acts come in the category of eminent acts or they have been mentioned with reference to circumstances and time or place. For instance, at certain times or at certain places or for certain persons, performing Salat in the early prescribed hours is more meritorious, or Hajj through representative or Jihad is more meritorious, etc.
