Surah Al-Ankabut Ayat 20 & 21 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (25 June 2023)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[29].Surah Al-Ankabut [The Spider]

Ayat 20. “Travel in the land and see how (Allah) originated creation, and then Allah will bring forth (resurrect) the creation of the Hereafter (i.e. resurrection after death). Verily, Allah is Able to do all things.”

Ayat 21. He punishes whom He will, and shows mercy to whom He will, and to Him you will be returned.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Ankabut (The Spider) Ayat 20 & 21. Say: “Travel through the earth and see how Allah did originate creation; so will Allah produce a later creation: for Allah has power over all things. Travel through the earth: again, literally as well as symbolically. If we actually go through this wide earth, we shall see the wonderful things in His Creation—the Grand Canyon and the Niagara’s in North America, beautiful harbors like that at Sydney in Australia, mountains like Fujiyama, the Himalayas, and Elburz in Asia, the Nile with its wonderful cataracts in Africa, the Fjords of Norway, the Geysers of Iceland, the city of the midnight sun in Tromso, and innumerable wonders everywhere. But wonders upon wonders are disclosed in the constitution of matter itself, the atom, and the forces of energy, as also in the instincts of animals, and the minds and capacities of man. And there is no limit to these things. Worlds upon worlds are created and transformed every moment, within and presumably beyond man’s vision. From what we know we can judge the unknown. He punishes whom He pleases, and He grants Mercy to whom He pleases, and towards Him are ye turned. I think ilayhi tuqlabun is better translated “towards Him are ye turned” than “towards Him will be your return”, as it implies not only the return of man to Allah in the Hereafter (turja’un in verse 17 above) but also the fact explained in verse 22 that man’s needs are always to be obtained from Allah: man cannot frustrate Allah’s designs, and can have no help or protection except from Allah: man has always to face Allah, whether man obeys Allah or tries to ignore Allah. Man will never be able to defeat Allah’s Plan. According to His wise Will and Plan, He will grant His grace or withhold it from man.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “There is no day on which Allah sets free more slaves from Hell than He does on the Day of `Arafah (The day of Hajj 9th day of Dhu Al Hijjah).”

[Muslim Book 07, Chapter 77, Hadith # 3126].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Hadith Almighty Allah emancipates most of His slaves, both men and women from the Hell-fire on this great day. Millions of pilgrims, who by virtue of their sincere repentance, try to seek the Pleasure of Allah certainly stand to earn Allah’s Pardon for their sins and thereby emancipation from the Hell-fire. May Allah grant us this grace of His.
