Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 30 & 31

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 30 & 31_*

*_Thereupon, the angels all fell down in prostration, (30)_*

*_Except Iblees; he refused to be among those who prostrated.(31)_*

These Ayat describe contrasting images of two different creations one is of Submission and the other is of Rebellion to the same order.‼️ When Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la commanded the Angels to prostrate to Adam عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ they instantly obeyed the order of Allah ﷻ without any delay. The word *كُلُّهُم kullhum* means all the angels. That is their nature of creation of Angels. However, something else also took place at the same time: *_“Not so Iblīs, who refused to be among those who prostrated._* For certainly, he is not, and never was, one of the angels. Iblis is a jinn and was created from the fire and the Angels were created from light.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that the act of prostration was not for worship but it was an act of obedience.‼️ We see here all the Angels obeyed the command by showing modesty and humility except Iblis who defied the order and rebelled out of arrogance.

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to always be in a state of obedience and save us from falling into the disease of arrogance and rebellion. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
