Surah Al Hijr – Ayah 59 & 60

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah Al-Hijr Ayat 59 & 60_*

*_except the household of Loot; we will save them all,(59)_*

*_except his wife. We decreed that she should be one of those who stayed behind.(60)_*

Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la had sent these Angels for a mission to destroy the people of Lut(AS), hence they conveyed the orders of Allah Azzawajal to Prophet Ibrahim(AS) that they are proceeding towards them.‼️ *The people of Prophet Lut(AS) didn’t mend their ways and neither obeyed their Messenger and were destined to be destroyed.* Among the people who were to be destroyed was Lut’s(AS) own wife. While those who followed Lut(AS) will be saved from the punishment.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand that each and every person is responsible for their own deeds.‼️ Hence Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la says in Surah Al-An’am

*_No one will reap except what they sow. No soul burdened with sin will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you of your differences.(6:164)_*

Being the wife of a Prophet Lut(AS) didn’t provide any immunity from the punishment of Allah Azzawajal. She herself chose to go astray from the straight path and it is the sunnah of Allah Azzawajal that HE SWT doesn’t guide the one who himself wants to go astray.

Allah Azzawajal says in Surah Tahrim
*_Allah sets forth an example for the disbelievers: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lut. Each was married to one of Our righteous servants, yet betrayed them. So their husbands were of no benefit to them against Allah whatsoever. Both were told, “Enter the Fire, along with the others!”.(65:10)_*

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la guide us upon the straight path and grant us the ability to take measures from incurring HIS displeasure and wrath. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
