Surah Al Mumin Ayat 08 Daily Qur’an & Hadith (09 Sep 2024)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 8. (Angels who bear the Throne of Allah and those around it saying): “Our Lord! And make them (who repent and follow Your Way) enter the ‘Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens) which you have promised them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their offspring! Verily, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 8. Angel praying to Allah “And grant, our Lord! that they enter the Gardens of Eternity, which Thou hast promised to them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their posterity! For Thou art (He), the Exalted in Might, Full of Wisdom. There is nothing selfish in prayer. We pray for all who are true and sincere. But just as Evil is catching, so Goodness is catching in another sense. The associates of the Good and those near and dear to them also share in their goodness and happiness, if only they try to walk in the same Way. And the Grace of Allah is working for all, all the time.

English Translation of Hadith

Abu Saeed Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) used to seek protection against the evil of jinn and the evil eyes till Surat Al-Falaq and Surah An-Naas were revealed. After they were revealed, he took them to seek Allah’s protection and left everything besides them.

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2058].

Lesson:  Like men, jinn’s also have good and bad elements among them. Almighty Allah has endowed them with such power that if they want, they can, with the Will of Allah, harm human beings. This is the reason mischievous jinn’s harm people. Similarly, the influence of the evil eye is also true. What it means is that if a person looks at someone with greed and envy, the evil effects of his look will reach the person viewed, and because of that he has to suffer some loss or trouble or accident. For this reason, the Prophet (PBUH) would seek the protection of Allah against the jinn’s and the evil eye and pray in his own words for it, saying: “I seek Your protection against jinn and evil eyes of the people.” After the revelation of the Surah Al-Falaq and An-Naas (last two Surah of the Quran) he started reciting them because these were revealed for this purpose. These Surah are also called “Al-Mu`awwidhatain” which mean two Surah which provide protection. It is, therefore, very useful to seek the protection of Allah by reciting them.
