Surah An Nahl – Ayah 65

*_Today’s Thought for the day is from Surah An-Nahl Ayah 65_*

*_Allah sends down from the sky water whereby He gives life to an earth that is dead. Verily in that is a sign for people who listen [attentively].(65)_*

اور خدا ہی نے آسمان سے پانی برسایا پھر اس سے زمین کو اس کے مرنے کے بعد زندہ کیا۔ بےشک اس میں سننے والوں کے لیے نشانی ہے.(65)

The Ayah calls for reflection upon the natural phenomenon and listen to what Allahﷻ and HIS Messengers call to.‼️ After mentioning the revelation of the Qur’an which gives life to the human soul ,now the Ayah calls to reflect upon sending down rain which is one more Grace from HIM. These are the signs for the people who listen to the exhortation and admonishment of Allahﷻ, and understand from that that HEﷻ alone is deserving of worship and no worship should be devoted to any but HIM Alone, for HEﷻ is the One Who bestows blessing by sending down rain and bringing forth all kinds of plants. HEﷻ is able to do all things, and the One Who gives life to the earth after it was dead is able to give life to the dead. The One Who bestows all these favours is the Possessor of abundant mercy and immense generosity.

*_Act of the Day is:_* to understand and remain grateful for the Grace of Allahﷻ. Water is indeed the source of life for every living thing. This Ayah makes it the source of life for the whole earth, implying that this includes all that exists on earth. The One who transforms death into life is indeed the One who deserves to be God and to whom worship should be addressed.‼️ *Man witnesses an instructive spectacle every year.* He observes that during the course of each year a time comes when the earth turns altogether barren, becoming bereft of every sign of life and fertility. One does not even see a blade of grass, nor plants nor leaves, nor vines nor flowers, nor even insects. Then suddenly the rainy season sets in. The very first shower causes life to well up from the depths of the earth. Innumerable roots that lay crushed under layer upon layer of earth are suddenly revived, causing the plants which had appeared on the surface a year ago and had then withered away, to make their appearance once again. Likewise, innumerable insects, every trace of which had been destroyed by the heat of summer, make their reappearance. Men observe this spectacle year after year – that life is followed by death and death by life.

Allah ﷻ mentions in Zumar:
*_And indeed We have explained from this Qur’an to all people once, from various examples of comparison hopefully they take admonition.(39:27)_*

“Despite all this, when the Prophet (peace be on him) tells that Allahﷻ will restore people to life after death, they are struck with surprise. This reaction clearly indicates that their observation of the phenomenon of life following death is one akin to the observation of irrational brutes who can hardly make any intelligent sense of what they see.”

*_May Allah Subhanahu wa taa’la grant us the ability to ponder and reflect upon and take heed. Aa’meen Ya’Rabbul Aa’lameen._*
