English Translation of Al-Quran

[38].Surah Suad

Ayat 79. [Ibis (Satan)] said: “My Lord! Give me respite till the Day the (dead) are resurrected.”

Ayat 80. (Allah) said: “Verily! You are of those allowed respite

Ayat 81. “Till the Day of the appointed time.”

Ayat 82. [Ibis (Satan)] said: “By Your Might, then I will surely mislead them all,

Ayat 83. “Except Your chosen slaves amongst them (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism).”

Ayat 84. (Allah) said: “The Truth is, and the Truth I say,

Ayat 85. That I (Allah) will fill Hell with you [Ibis (Satan)] and those of them (mankind) that follow you, together.”

Tafseer of Surah Suad Ayat 79. (Iblis) said: “O my Lord! Give me respite till the Day the (dead) are raised.” For the significance of the respite see 15:36. Ayat 80. (Allah) said: “Respite then is granted thee- Ayat 81.”Till the Day of the Time Appointed.” It is not an indefinite respite. It is for a period definitely limited, while this our Probation lasts in this world. It is part of the test as to how we use our limited free will. After that, our whole existence will be on a different plane. The good will have been sorted out, the chain of consequences of the present world will be broken, and “a new Creation” will have taken the place of the present World. Ayat 82. (Iblis) said: “Then, by Thy Power, I will put them all in the wrong, This phrase, this oath of Satan, is a fresh point introduced in this passage, because here we are dealing with Power—the Power of Good contrasted with Evil—the spiritual Power of Allah as contrasted with the power that we see in our earthly affairs. Satan acknowledges that even his power, such as it is, has no reality except insofar as it is permitted to operate by Allah in Allah’s wise and universal Plan, and that it cannot harm the true and sincere worshippers of Allah. See 15:39. Ayat 83. “Except Thy Servants amongst them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace).” Ayat 84. (Allah) said: “Then it is just and fitting and I say what is just and fitting 15:64. Ayat 85. “That I will certainly fill Hell with you and those that follow you.” Cf. 7:18 ; 7:179, and 11:119. The punishment of defiance, and rebellion is inevitable and just, and the followers who chose to identify themselves with the disobedience must suffer as well as the leaders. Cf. 10:33

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, “When a non-believer does good deed he is made to taste its reward in this world. And for the believer is concerned, Allah (SWT) stores (the reward) of his virtues for the hereafter and provides him sustenance in accordance with his obedience to him (in this world)”.

[Muslim Book 39, Chapter 11, Hadith # 6740].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Suad Ayat 85. That I (Allah) will fill Hell with you [Ibis (Satan)] and those of them (mankind) that follow you, together” this Hadith shows the value of the Hereafter and its blessings compared to the worldly life. This Hadith also induces one to work for the life of the Hereafter, as the amenities of this world which one strives hard to attain.
